Yeah, its because people can buy them off the internet, print them off, then scan through without their ticket being checked. Same could be done with season tickets too worryingly.

Apparently in the UK,you cannot buy concession tickets online and just print them off. You have to either go buy them straight from the shop,or buy online and pick them (on matchday). Either way there is an ID check. But 2 problems with this method i guess are....

a) you could just get a child/student to go pick up the ticket, then give it to you to use.

b) It would put people off because of the inconvenience factor.

The only other solution is to check EVERYONEs tickets as they enter the gate. This also has obvious problems of...

a) would cause a big logjam as people are traditionally good at arriving at the very last minute, and would take forever for 8-10k tickets to be checked.

b) the cost of the extra security that would have to be on to check all these tickets may outweigh the benefit of the cost saved from those who partake in this ripping the club off practice.

In the UK though EVERY ticket IS checked - every ticket is handed over and a section ripped off. Yes, there are queues, but people know there will be queues and get there on time, or if you are me, miss the first 10 minutes of nearly every match

Well for my 2 cents worth, I feel proud when I swipe my $220 season ticket thru the machine and it says "please enter" I'm doing my bit for the club. Plus all the merchandise I have bought over the last 2 years (My wife has been surprisingly tolerant). Two more fleecy blankets today (Still $30 a pair).

It is only fair we pay our way. I am disappointed that some may be buying youth tickets despite being older. You might think it's clever but you are screwing the club. The very club which is more important than any individual.

I was pleased to see the club trying to show some initiatives in the last few games to increase crowds and am very disappointed that the neutral sport lovers of Wellington teams did not take advantage to support another Wellington team.

I was even more disappointed at some of my work colleagues and their feeble excuses for not attending. What makes an atmosphere? People showing up, not shouting at their TV - unless it's an "away" game.

We all have to bring someone along as many of the YF seniors have been promoting. It's not just a case of sitting in the feverzone either, but sitting anywhere in the ground and shouting your lungs out. Getting behind the team and when things are not working out, getting behind them even more.

I just wish the people who were thinking about coming but dont, finally show up. The "I was going to but" excuse is no longer valid. The Nix finished with a decent home record and some of the footie was good. Some crap too but hey, these things happen.

So long as the stadium remove that sh*t loud crap music from before, during and after the game please. The only music played should be as the teams come out onto the feild and for christs sake drop the volume. People at the Overseas terminal could hear it. but I digress.

Next season I will be there and next season I hope to bring someone new to each home game. My season ticket money is here unless I get a rather large bill for something.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!
