Just remember the IRD and ACC want to screw him for 3.4 million, yet the same Govt is happy to wipe off 43 Million on TV 3 & 4 and some radio stations despite them being privately owned and in competition with their very own TVNZ. Go figure. Oh and give a Million to Lybia ?
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Sorry LG but that's complete rubbish. Some of the money that's owed isn't even Terry's, it's the players personal kiwisaver contributions. Terry has had plenty of time and has been given all the necessary opportunities to pay up. And are you seriously arguing that you'd like to see TV3 go out of business?
No-one is trying to screw him, he's just being asked to pay his taxes on time, which if something that we all do every pay cheque. He's given the privilege of waiting until the ensd of the year and doesn't, I don't have a great deal of sympathy if you ignore the plight of the club to which we're all emotionally bound

I'd happily argue that TV3 is not worth a cent of taxpayer money. (Mind you i feel the same way about TVNZ).
We could do with a proper public broadcaster, not simply re-transmiter of vacous american output.
However, Terry should pay his bills.

So where'd this other $10million come from then? Heard it on Rock Sport this morning.
I think it has always been there, it's just that people have been focusing on other amounts which are more immediately owing. I think also those amounts are in dispute and there are no immediate judgements pending.
Also, those amount are owed by him personally not the club which means it's quite a different picture.

As I've said elsewhere, Terry can end up destitute and standing on a street corner holding a sign saying WILL DROP PANTS FOR FOOD for all I care, as long as the Nix are safe.

Are you suggesting there are some edible things in Mr Serepisos' strides?

I'm pretty sure the TV3 money is not a handout. It's a loan at a high interest rate.
Edit: What I'm concerned about is that next season will once again be on a tight budget. Need more crowd support and to get that I think extra exposure through advertising is needed.rjmiller2011-04-19 09:11:46

However, on the other hand.
Better the owner you have than an imaginary and potentially non-existent one in October.
That's the risk, innit. But a year down the line, a new owner for a less viable looking business might be harder to find.
If this 4m is self-funded through an asset sale, i'm more worried not less.
Heard a strong rumour that the $4m was stumped up by none other than one Ryan Nelsen in exchange for a part share in the club and an Assistant Manager/Player role for next season...

No complaints from me if that is the case.

Dreams are free, but that is a very wet one.

Well, given EPL salaries, the Admiral does throw something like $4 million at a dog if he doesn't have a stone. I wouldn't say it's impossible that he might decide to "invest in the NZ game", although the whole player/manager thing is clearly nonsense.
(Heh. Almost typed "ELP salaries", and certainly Keith Emerson was pretty rich back in the day.)

I must admit....though I will never repeat it...I actually know SFA about football!!!!
However I do know about business....its what I have been doing internationally for the last 20 years or so. In my humble opinion and in the opinion of my colleagues who I work with and value their opinions highly.....that Serepisos Inc is in the last stages of termination.
We have all seen plenty of examples of what Terry's business's are going through and I am afraid that unless someone steps in with a huge cash injection that it is all over. It is not just about paying off the IRD today....its about the ability to keep the business's running commercially in the future.
In some ways it might be better to clear the air now. Either there are people out there ready to take over and run the club or not. Its better to find out now than have the club stumble along and eventually fall to pieces in a very ugly and public way. At least if there is a change now it gives any potential owners the time before next season to get things like recruitment done in a proper way.
The club has only 12 players on its books...and a skeleton back room staff. Its not fair on players or fans to draw this out. I would rather see if there are new new owners out there and get this over with. IMO there is a higher probability that there are potential new owners than Terry having the finances to run a proper viable football club.
