A local developer says he had offers indirectly from the same area and it was a bit like spam.
Then someone commenting, effectively says, pot, kettle, black, didn't you do those leaky homes....

This little gem of information was buried in one of the early Dom Post reports on our friend Ali Ahsan Syed but apparently WGA are a major sponsor of the Bahrain national team!

Like everything in WGA world, however, things are a little weird.

Check out this gallery from the WGA website which clearly shows photos of the Bahrain team with WGA on their shirts plus WGA advertising around the field at their 4 Jan 2011 friendly against Korea DPR in Manama.

I've had a look at the Bahrain Football Association website though, and no sign of any WGA sponsorship (it's all in Arabic though so it's a bit hard to tell).

At the next NZ game John Key needs to sit in a corporate box with a tissue box that has the NZ flag on the outside.

maybe Ali found out that the it was Terry (becoz of the Nix) that helped the All Whites win the qualifier against Bahrain, so will not loan Terry the money.

Funny one would say that, I thought about this a while back didn't think much of it. Still don't but then again this world we live in is pretty damn stupid.

So in the latest article on the Phoenix's long term survival Terry is absolutely positive that $100m deal is "over the line", I wonder what is going on. Could the deal really be happening? Does he already have the money? Azevo2011-03-20 11:15:32

But even if the deal falls through, that article says that NZF will step in to keep the Phoenix running. Sounds like we are safe.

Matt Muppet getting desperate for something to right about in the online NBR. He gave Terry's number to Crafar and told him to give him a call. Not surprisingly Terry wasnt too happy about it.
Crafar said he had respect for Terry, but said
I personally don't like soccer, any fool can kick a round ball. They call it the beautiful game because dumb people can play it

Serepisos says no sale

Celia Williams

31 Mar 2011

Confusion surrounds the status of the proposed mortgagee auction of the palatial Queenstown Hill pad owned by embattled property tycoon Terry Serepisos.
The owner of football franchise Wellington Phoenix is denying his luxury holiday home at 31 Belfast Terrace is up for forced sale despite a local real estate agent saying as far as he is aware its still going ahead.
Valued at $1.6 million, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom house has been advertised as going under the hammer at the Locations Queenstown office next Thursday.
The Apprentice reality TV show host says its no longer on the market and that hes repaid the debt to TSB Bank, which instructed the mortgagee sale.
Theres no mortgagee auction, its been settled. Im not going into it there wont be any mortgagee sale,
Serepisos tells
Mountain Scene yesterday morning.
Locations agent Steven Kirk says he spoke to TSB yesterday and as far as he is aware the sale still stands.
Its status quo. [TSB] said, We cant comment but as far as were concerned its going to auction.
No doubt hes trying to stop it. The banks dont tell us much really. But I havent received any instructions differently.
Kirk adds he hasnt been able to contact Serepisos but understands he was staying at his holiday retreat last weekend.
I think he took [the for-sale signs] down.
When contacted again yesterday afternoon, Serepisos says: I dont know how they got that because I spoke to the main [TSB] guy after I spoke to you and he said everything is being sorted out. Its something obviously in the channel.
You will not see my house being on mortgagee sale next week. Youre just going to have to take my word for it.
Im going to get to the bottom of this. Youll find out Im a liar if it goes next week to mortgagee sale. Till then, Im telling you its not.
He denies taking the signs down: I havent been down there.
As for Kirk not being able to contact him: How can a guy like that tell me hes trying to get hold of me and he cant get hold of me? What a load of rubbish. Youve rung me twice and managed to get hold of me.
TSB lending and credit manager Phil Gerrard refuses to comment.
A regular at Queenstowns Winter Festival ball, Serepisos says he doesnt make it down to his holiday retreat much.
I love to get down there but Im so busy in Wellington.
Serepisos is reportedly relying on a promised $135m loan from Western Gulf Advisory to restructure his debts.
The High Court has given him till April 18 to repay a $3.58m tax bill to Inland Revenue, and prevent the liquidation of five of his Century City companies including the company that owns the Phoenix.
Last December, five apartments in his Wellington Century City block owned by Serepisos company New Millennium Design went up for mortgagee sale after Canterbury Mortgage Trust went to recover $5.97m of outstanding payments.
Serepisos reportedly sold them the day before they went under the hammer.

Story on Ali Ahsan Syed and Racing Santander from the Wall Street Journal...

Fears behind the Racing cheers

For fans of Racing Santander, the lowly Spanish soccer team, there hasn't been much to cheer about in the past few years.

This tiny club from the north of the country was playing in the second division a decade ago, has achieved a top-10 finish in Spain's top professional league just three times in the past 50 years, and hasn't won a major trophy in its entire 98-year history.

But when Ahsan Ali Syed bought a controlling stake in the team in January, things finally seemed to be looking up. The Indian entrepreneur, who says his fortune is worth more than $12 billion, promised to transform the perennial struggler by paying off the club's 20 million ($28.1 million) debts and assembling a roster capable of competing against the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Another Serepisos creditor files claim

'However, he says that all his debts will be paid within two weeks.'' - Just in time...

'The original loan of $1,081,987.50 was made to refinance ASB and Hanover Finance mortgages. It was made for a 30-year term, originally at 10.94 per cent interest..' - No wonder you would look anywhere possible to get a better rate.

He's working for Terry.

He was at Phoenix prizegiving less than a month ago and his car was parked at Century City Apartments during the week.

Why would that be any different?

How's my driving? - Whine here

Poor guy, 6 figure salaried (I assume) job, car, apartment. Feel real bad for him.

Its all bad news from one week to the next at present.

I am starting to think it will be a miracle if Terry gets out of this unscathed.

He seems to be getting hammered on multiple fronts..some with money and strength to stick it out a lot longer than Terry can.

Good luck Terry..I still admire you for what you have done for the Nix.

Terry's been plenty scathed already, which was the point of the exercise from Burgess, Nippert etc. Now I want to see if he gets out of this in one piece.

Assuming Terry gets out of this..... whats the chance of the media saying sorry and running at least as many positives stories as they have negative stories...

Say sorry for what?

Exactly. We may not like what they are printing, but it's basically the truth.

The thing that bugs me most is the way they are going after Terry, but that's the nature of the press I suppose.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Looks like the NBR only just picked up on the Queenstown holiday home story which was reported in Mountain News and posted here nearly a week ago:

Matt Nippert might be a douche but at least he's up to date. Still, his parental leave will be over soon so we can expect a flood of new scoops from NZ's finest purveyor of journalistic smack.

WGA is most probably a fraud and a scam but Terry has plan B worked out. How long Plan B will hold water for is another question entirely, but I will put money that we will have at least one more season of Terry owning the Nix.

I'd buy it, put 10mil aside to account of the ongoing losses, and BBG.
