To get up the rankings you've gotta work, work, work. At first
you're all keen, bright-eyed and eager to please, then after a
while you settle down, become comfortable and confident, think that
what you write really matters, which then leads on to you being
slightly smug, condescending and prone to indignant
speeches. Given enough time you will naturally end up
tired, cynical and crotchety, a true faded veteran.
At which point you are ready to become a moderator.
