Icing on the cake this afternoon..... and I wonder how those Scum "supporters" who wanted their team to lose to Roar so we wouldn't win the Plate feel now. roflmao

My guess still trying to tune their banjos up there in the land of shaved heads and no teeth otherwise know as Deliverance country....

Vid taken just of Hunter Street [i.e. main street in Newcastle] today...

Agreed.

However, I think this loss goes on Dura, 2 poor touches - ruthlessly punished - led directly to goals - just like the 3rd goal (a poor touch by Lia)  we conceded against the Victory.

Thing is, it is easier to forgive Durante as he is usually very solid. He was at fault for both goals though.

Not trying to be too harsh, he is usually very solid and it was his 100th game.  9 times out of 10 goals would not have resulted, but CCM were too clinical.  It's just that needless giving away of possession and the consequent pressure that is so frustrating.

No more pav, please.
Ward was probably man of match.
Everyone was average and brown and lia are no midfield.
Ugh
Oh well finals Friday!!! Sydney needs thrashing.

Well done lads for a 4th place finish.

Also well done for giving it a go today. The intent was certainly there. You could see they were trying. So top marks for the effort.

However the truth is there for everyone to see. Some of these guys are passed their use by date. Sad when the mind is willing but the body is no longer good enough. Others in the squad are just not good enough. We are short of creativity, we are short of pace and we need players other than Ifill who can threaten the goal.

CCM area class side....they have got good balance accross the team and they work well as a unit. You had the feeling they were just cruising along and could have stepped it up a few gears if needed.

Wasn't Weemac class?....so happy he is an AW. Some of his runs were astonishing and he was great on the ball as well.

I won't slag off the team because they tried and they got us to 4th. Don't hold out huge hopes for the playoffs beyond next week. Hopefully we will see a bit of a cleanout in the off season.

Sutton is rubbish, even Pav would do a good job at marking him. Need to watch Ibini though, he is their most potent attacking threat, his pace could catch us out.

Lets hope your comment does not come back to haunt you on the weekend.

I hope I am correct about Sutton and wrong about Ibini.

If it does not work out for Keat this season at Galaxy (meaning does not grab a first team spot) then I would not mind seeing him here. Add something different

Well done the lads on a fine season to date. We are in the top four, have a home final against the bling, which out of all the teams in the final 6 would be my choice for us to play. I also have a feeling that the Heart may tip up Perth and do us a big favour.

Yes our squad has limitations, is aging and has at least one absolute clueless Donkey (Pav), but realistically I think Rickis recruitment options have been severly limited not just for this season but probably last season as well. But given all of that and the uncertainty at the start of this season, we have done f**king magnificently, and in one off situations, who knows?

Realistically the title is beyond us barring miracles as clearly the Roar and Mariners are a class above everyone else in the competition. But I will be there as long as possible shouting my lungs out. Unfortunately if we end up playing Perf in Perf, I will not be able to get there, but should we make a preliminary final in either Brissy or Gosford, will be there with bells on.

As for todays game, two mistakes from Captain fantastic probably cost us the Game (would love to know how many goals we have given away in the final 5 minutes of a half!) but aside from that we were probably a pass mark.. just, we did create three or four reasonable chances and on a different day we may have snatched something from that. Truth is however, we are not as good as CCM or the Roar on a week in week out basis although on ocassion we may snatch something from them as we have done this year.

Agree with virtually all of this. Nicky Ward seems to be repaying my faith in him from day one- he is starting to fire, and showing a lot of talent. Pav MAY still do the same IMO, but how much longer do we give him? Lia and Brown are consistent.....rubbish. Leo has improved in the last few games, and poor Dura won't remember his century for the right reasons.
Just to give it a bit of perspective though, remember where we were at the start of the season. Look at the table and finals line-up now. I know, you'll say I predicted this before the season started (I really did), but few others would have.
Remember, we are the Mighty Phoenix, we can beat Anyone!
On a side note, I sort of hope Ricki gets a not too gentle kick up the ass for saying to the press that we could rest players for this game- I'm sure that this encouraged the part-timers and virgins to stay away in droves. Not smart, Ricki.
I reckon we had an off day, but our season is not over yet.
P.S. who were the twats that started booing at the final whistle? Memo to them: You are twats

You should get your eye prescription updated yearly at your age Grandadi, suspect it's been a while based on this.

No need, my spectacles are in fine fettle thank you. Does Nicky Ward owe you money or did he look at your sister funny, or something?

The fact that Sutton has played proffessional football in the UK, it was a pretty dumb to say that he was'rubbish'

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

The REALLY depressing thing about conceding that goal just before half time was doing so in the knowledge that I would have to listen to Dane f**king Rumble and be a goal down. That depressing even made the halftime beer taste worse than export33 already does

I thought Dane Rumble was excellent (at making me want to kill myself).

You'll never beat The Salmon!

I'm not a Dane Rumble fan myself but I applaud the owners for trying something different.   There were lots of kids in the mosh pit listening to the music and enjoying themselves.  I can't understand the angst about Dane Rumble, there ain't going to be a band that everyone approves of.

Least Leo and Pasty are up for goal and save of the round.
