These are the difficult days being a Nix fan. Awful viewing this, like a replay of last week's game.

The respect our defence earned through the season is fading fast.
summed it up in one sir.

Chotey: "The Phoenix defense/midfield had to introduce themselves to Hernandez after the victory game, because they certainly didn't see him during the game.  Same here with Abini and McGlinchey".

Piney almost started crying after Pav's efforts there.

Did 6 of them offer to swap shirts with him?

No cause it will be a purple patch. He has had 2 seasons and about 30 odd games? If he had talent, it would have shone through by now.

Please that was not a shot... it was a cross that the keeper stuffed up terribly!!

if anything it showed how woeful he is at set pieces... it literally went no where near where he intended it... and through luck and nothing else ended up in the net.

still crap... and for the record he's always been one of my favourite nz players in the past.

Can I just say that Nick Ward is the only player on the same wave length as Pavlovic...

Poor defending, butchered chances, frustrating viewing. I think I've got a nasty case of Phoenix fatigue!

Still, they showed some character in the last 20 which they will need in full next Friday.

It was pretty plain that Iffy was still getting over the flu. Still, I am glad that those moaners who said that Boring Defensive Ricki was going to park the bus were wrong.

Now: to start praying that Heart don't come fifth.

So annoying that we often leave playing till the final 15 minutes of the game.

With finals next week will we see some big calls made from Ricki to try and change the current team form.... my guess is no.

Bring on the Olympics.

We created enough chances to win 5-2 but as we have all season severely lacked on the finishing. I hope WelNix can see this and make sure we have some top quality strike power next season.

Congratulations to the Mariners on winning the minor premiership - an all the more remarkable achievement considering their own off field dramas through the course of the season and the rigorous playing schedule they have had over the last few weeks.

Within the painfully obvious limitations of our squad (sh*t we need some major squad surgery in the off season) I thought we played well in the first half - helped by Brown actually playing as a DM and doing some work and Greeny playing further forward. Most significantly we played with real intent to go forward.

I think the Mariners played a smart game and, knowing their tanks were probably on low, absorbed the pressure in the first half and then stepped it up a gear in the second.

I'm glad we finished with a positive last 10 minutes and have that positive to take in to preparation for Friday.

I think we'll line-up on Friday as we lined up tonight with the probable exception that Ward will come in for Sanchez who is all but disappearing without trace as the season reaches its conclusion.

P.S. Hoping for the Jets on Friday and the Heart away to Perth. On our night I can see us winning the former and the Heart the later giving us a second home play-off game.

I think we can pretty all agree Sanchez is probably better in a central role however it seems Ricki wants to try to fit too many players on for him to play that role and he ends up out right. The flip side is that he probably has played his way out of a contract because for an import, I want someone that stands out every game. If we have 4 imports, I expect them to be the best four players on the pitch consistently. He is not. That being said, I did not think he was worth it preaseason and when he kicked into gear after 10 games, I was happy to be wrong. Now I'm left feeling I actually was right and he was nothing to get hyped about.

Squad surgery is needed but will it happen? 50-50 based on who is signed thus far...
