We gave it to them

Sat back, played negatively, paid the price. How many times have we done that this season?

Sorry, but Ricki should be blamed

Why? He put on a 2nd striker early. This is all the on field players fault when we have dominated 80% of this game not the coach

+1.  Its not like he brought in the defensive bus bringing McKain on early - he put on a second striker!

Sick of this sack Ricki bullsh*t every time the players screw up.  Assuming we hold on we have just equalled the home game unbeaten record.

The mentality this season when we go 1-0 in front is to sit back from 60-70 mins on. Has cost us 3-4 wins this season at least.

So the fact we put on a 2nd striker and kept attacking for long than normal (by your 60-70min guide) is all Rickis fault. f**k off.

We drew this because the team has no bottle. No other reason. Ricki subbed early, put on a 2nd striker (which everyone whinges that he never does) Costa lived offside in the 2nd spell and we never shut down Thompson once, he looked dangerous the entire game.

I find it simply hilarious that the coach gets blamed for this

I blamed him in the heat of the moment and I agree it's (mostly) the players fault. I just find it weird that we ALWAYS have the same mentality in that situation and it's getting f**king annoying giving away 1-0 leads in the last 10 mins. It's so inevitably going to happen, every time.

We played most of the match with an extra man and held the lead for half an hour. Why the f**k would you be happy with a point? At home no less!!

We have to start killing teams off,  I think we have lost 10-12 points this year now cause we arent doing the business when we are on top.

I'm far from happy as the slightly rearranged furniture at home here can attest, but to be honest I thought with Tards on a roll and our changed lineup they might get the better of us tonight, therefore if I was offered a point beforehand I probably would've said righto.

Just disappointing we cracked so badly under pressure. If we were playing for the 1-0 win then surely possesseion should've been the key, but we kept booting it away.

I'd look at team leadership and I'd be asking of my captain, 'How are you standing up and helping settle the ship in those last minutes?' Same stuff with Steve Price at the Warriors...

FFS 2 points lost. Our corners were f@$king sh*t all game, what can anyone do with a looply ball against muscat, vargas leijer etc.

Why did we go defencsive at f@%king home when it looked like Mel were going to score at any moment???

Costa was rubbish. Get rid of Chen and find another striker..

Siggy will get in trouble for the punch, wtf were you thinking???

Sack Ricki.

Positives
14 games undefeated at home but apart from that....
Edit:Lochead and Hearfield played well

We're really not a team that knows how to keep possession - probably a bit of a problem when we go up. It's either all out attack or sitting back deep..

For the positives I thought Hearfield was brilliant until he got injured and Lochhead had his best game in a long time.

and at least we can focus on the All Whites for the rest of the weekend to get our mind off it..

You were obviously watching the wrong game because for the previous 80, we dominated them 80>10 thus your statement is bollocks

Or not, we had sweet F@#k clear cut chances to put them away, and every half chance turned to custard.

Now I have calmed down a bit,  MV have an excellent away record we are one of only two teams to get points off them at our home ground.  however still feels like 2 points lost

I do think there are alot of positives to be taken from the first half. however I was a little surprised that Hearfield stayed on for the rest of the match, he never looked comfortable after his injury. He was fantastic up to that point though. Lochy was fantastic up the left. Just the same ol defensive lapse in the last ten that we are all oh so used to. Bugger, but as had been said, if offered the one before the game, I wouldn't have been offended

this is why pple arent turnin up to the games. this is why crowd numbers drop then rise alittle. there isnt many games left before the play offs and this kind of performance is not acceptable. I dont care if we are unbeaten 14 games at home.

Its quality that matters. I'd rather lose and play with guts, heart and determination for 90+ minutes then play a good 60 to 70 minutes then crap for the rest! and to make it worse i hope siggy doesnt get pulled up for his fisty punch.

Didn't really have a replacement for Hearfield sitting on the bench. Maybe we could've put Costa wide and Leo there but wouldn't of worked too well.

the best defence is a good offense.  when you have one extra man attack them man, god.

Yep.
Another two points thrown away.
Another to add to the 'wot if' end of season review.
You would expect we could put a 10-man team away (still they are the leaders)

And yes, we equalled the best un-beaten run in in the A-League - but surley we have the record for most points sqaundered in a season

foamy - I agree,  if we had pushed for a second it would have put all the pressure on MV but we sat back,  team needs to look at themselves,  we should/could be much higher up the table if we hadnt taken advantage of teams when we have the opportunity.

You would have to wonder when you consider we ditch Mulligan and Chen very quickly.

How many points have we thrown away now this year. Must be close a dozen.

Sam Malcolmson said we can win this? I'd believe him if we showed a bit more steel in the last 10, yet again.

I think the tactic was probably to draw Melb out knowing they had to chase the game - and to be fair we mounted some very nice counterattacks - but the plan turned to custard in that vital last 10.

Chen is here on loan from chinise club so not sure how long he will be here for. Mulligan while training for AW's still cant get a game for nics. Cant work that out. I'd love to know what he's getting paid.

Maybe Riki thought that Costa would be able to run the 'tired' Victory players ragged. Trouble was he is quicker than his brain at the moment (Costa that is) . Even so, it;s a mystery why he brought  Caceres off....
