---------------------Moss----------------------
Siggy--------Durante-----McKain-----Muscat
--------------------Johnson---------------------
--------------------Ferrante--------------------
Bertos------------------------------------Daniel
---------------------Gao-------------------------
-------------------Smeltz--------------------------

Big fan of Dodd as a stopper but doesnt have the same providing skills as Johnson from what ive seen........Like to see Gao off for Hearfield with 25mins to go to see how he and Smeltzy work together...

If lochy returns, then obviously he goes into left back and give Manny a chance at right back.

what game is that based on? He's played bugger all. Only game I can remember is Perth away where he set up Daniel for the goal. I dont think he is in the picture at the moment anyway

Tim is fit and in consideration, along with just about every other player except Lia.
After reading this it seems all is healthy. The team has some good players to pick from and some good ones may be left on the bench (Kwasnik), maybe left out altogether (Coveny). When Durante comes back and Dodd moves forward, which I believe is a certainty, then it means Johnson may get knocked back to the bench. Ferrante has to start, it's just whether Daniel starts or comes on as an impact player again.
Anyone know if Muscat can play on the right? If he can and presuming Lochead is back, they could both play. If he can't play on the right then stick Hearfield there.
I like Johnson, just can't drop anyone. Bertos needs to have a good game as Hearfield might be pushing for his place.

For me

                                Moss

Muscat/Hearfield   Durante  McKain   Lochead

      The wall of Dodddddddddddddddddd

Bertos          Ferrante           Gao        Daniel

                              Smeltz

Bench
Kwasnik
Brown
Johnson
Paston

I'll probably change my mind on a couple before next week, it's that close for some spots

im sorry but im just not convinced with dodd playing in the midfield behind the likes of daniel, gao, hearfield, bertos etc, i see him as an excellent central defender and i see ferrante, johnson and Brown as better DM options but hey, i could be wrong.

i once again raise the point that the bench sizes in the a league are just to small, how are we meant to develop younger, up and coming stars if thay are kept of even making the bench by possible game breakers - apart from the youth league they pretty much just have to hope for an injury.

And Port Vale won - the world seems a better place this morning . .

Seems like Boro have decided no to take up the chance to sign Tony (This is from my flatmate who is his cousin). He should be back in the next day or so if he is not already, so should hopefully be raring to go for the weekend!

If this is true all good for the nix, BUT I hope it hasn't dented his confidence too much.

Heard that R.Nelsen has texted Tony the team he'd like to see line up on Sunday at the ROF, seeing as he's buggered off then his team mates must be able to also I presume... (Yeah.Right):

                      Moss
Sigmund  Christie   Mulligan   Lochhead
                     Brown
Bertos          Coveny         Barbarouses
                Draper
                            Smeltz

Subs:   Paston
            TBA*

*four to be added pending acceptance of contracts post Olympics
(Herbert & O'Sullivan on standby).

I wonder how Dodd would go if partnered with Richard Johnson as twin DMs? In a 4-2-3-1 formation?? Gao/Daniel on left, Bertos on right, Kwasnick/Ferante behind Smeltz??

One thing is for sure, with a much improved squad this year and players whom can play in several positions, it makes the possible permutations so many more for Ricki. And it'll keep our opposition coaches guessing!!

Bit of a worry on the periphary of this game is that if Saturday goes like it could do at the Olympics in terms of Rowing and Valerie and then the All Blacks win in Africa overnight the Nix game may well get absolutely buried.

I think in a 4-2-3-1 you really need someone who can distribute in the 2 or it can be a bit dire and defensive.  Like Milan have always done with Pirlo and Gattuso, the destroyer and the creator, or United with Hargreaves and Carrick, or Liverpool with Mascherano and Alonso.  Thats why I like seeing Ferrante in there, keeps things ticking

Indeed! Moving Ferrante into a more deep lying role was a fantastic move on Ricki's part. If you remember he started last season as either a right midfielder or as an advanced CM playmaker. His lack of ability in front of goal got curely exposed and he got less time on the ball (due to being closer to opposition defenders and defensive midfielders). By moving him into a more deep lying position Ferrante can put his engine to good use, hustling the opposition off the ball and once he does recieve it he generally has more time to play those long, raking passes that get our attacks down the wing going.
