Phoenix vs Clogs - Match Fred

They look as though they'll play an attacking game, especially with the Brazilian back to join the new Dutchie up front with Charlie Miller; and with Craig Moore and Andrew Packer sitting down, it can only help our cause...

Hopefully we'll see some goals - with us getting most of them... 4-2 would be good, as would 2-1, 3-1, 8-5, 3-0, 4-3, 1-0... awww hell, who cares as long as we win!

Thoughts?

3-1 to the Nix.  Daniel, Smeltz and McKain to get a dirty header in there too for good measure...

The match could provide extra spice given the possibility of two brothers coming up against each other Phoenix enforcer Karl Dodd set to face younger brother Dave, a midfielder for the Roar.

Dodd the elder said he was relishing the possibility.

Daves getting in tonight and hell give me a call then, so Ill be able to find out if hell be playing or not.  If he does play then Im sure Ill let him know that Im out there therell be no love lost. I might put a strong challenge on him or give him a bit of a nudge as I go past.

With their mother in the stand at Westpac Stadium on Sunday, big brother had no doubt about which sibling would get the family backing.

Daves a mummys boy, so Im sure hell have mums support.

2-1.

Daniel, Smeltz scoring for us. Late winner I'm thinking

Things I'd like to see:

1) A win - Don't care how it happens but I think it would be a good message to send out, both to the other sides in the competition and also to the NZ public that we mean business. The more convincing the better. A draw wouldn't be a bad result, although that depends on the manner of the draw. If they score in the last minute to make it 2 - 2 that would be bad.

2) Smeltz getting a goal - I'm worried he's a little down on confidence so it'd be nice to see him start the new season in a positive fashion. Be nice if Leo could get an early confidence boosting goal as well.

3) A clean sheet - Our defense looks fantastic, and to do well in the league we need clean sheets at home, might as well start with one on Sunday.

sounds like some good objectives KTBW, I hope Smeltzy gets one too.

I'm thinking a 2-1 with Kwasi to score one of our goals

To get 'screwed" wouldn't you have to bend over?
Don't blame the ref, just bloody well score goals but 1-0  will do
Be watching from QLD, might try their club rooms

These are my hopes for the team on Sunday

1) we win
2) we score more than the opposition
3) the opposition score less than us

basically, i want a win. I dont care if the goal comes in the 3rd minute of injury time with a plodder/old like blunder on the roars behalf. 3 points, thats it!

A similar performance to our opening game of last season (against Melbourne) would be fantastic.

Hopefully we will have another last minute shot off the post, but this time it will burst the back of the net to secure a famous 3-2 triumph!

See ya at the Backbencher for a couple of bevies ...

Short version of a discussion last night: How many people will get arrested or trespassed for drunken behaviour this coming season?

ONE sleep to go!!
dairyflat2008-08-16 09:12:42
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

living here in enemy territory, I've seen a fair bit of our first-up opponents and they look pretty ordinary. Haven't bought much talent, and their star signing is a never-was from Scotland who's been plying his trade in Norway of late, and now looks like a forty year-old sunday park footballer.

And the roar are sponsored by a kebab shop, which will be doing wonders for their fitness. Re-signing reinaldo is also an obvious hint that they won't be playing a fast-paced game either.

I see yet again Ben Williams gets the nix home game.

A poor ref who is openly biased against us.

We are starting a goal and half down when he is the ref.  Is he the only one who will come to NZ??

The no penalty for a clear hand ball then the penalty against Old next game and then booking hime for telling the truth, and the non booking of Talay for a blatant second caution offence stick in the mind. There are many others.

The refs in the league are poor in general but Williams is just a cheat, it's as if his sole purpose is to show the fans whose the boss.

I hope I am proved wrong.

GO THE NIX 6 Points to open the season.
