That will get us nowhere.

How about, now to score a couple more and put these posers away.
Hope Richie doesn't think like you, no offence

We'll take it, Gold Coast get the karma from being mega bling c**ts. We had a good 10-25 mins hopefully we can replicate that 2nd half.

Caceres is showing why he's such a frustrating player for fans of his long list of clubs. Bertos instead please.

Muscat's gonna get sent. Someone is anyway.

Massive tackle by Brownie to stop Smeltz.

Right ankle. Stupid tackle. Clear penalty.

We just played it back in slow mo from all the angles they played. Consensus in the house was ball got played and no penalty. Still, we'll take it!

Stupid tackle to attempt, given the ball and Brown were going away from goal. Did you see how Miller came over and said to him "what did you do that for" or something similar?

Fair enough then. Ive only seen it twice. Once in real time, once i replay, and both times thought it to be a penalty. But will bow to your more superior replays
Looking at it again,Brown even looked surprised at the decision.

Allegedly

Weird game but technically i actually think Breeze has got it right tonight and dishing out the cards properly.

Agree again. Maybe if refs start handing out cards like this on a regular basis, some of the hacking, shirt pulling, diving and other cynical fouls will fall off.

This.
I saw a comment by Jason Edwards?? of Wigan a few years back on cards for simulation, saying something like " What if the ref gets it wrong and gives a yellow against a striker for diving, or sends him off (2nd yellow) when he should have awarded a penalty? It could change the outcome of a game"

I remember posting a comment on the BBC replying to his column along the lines of "Doesn't it change the game when defenders get sent off and concede a penalty when the striker dives?"

Refs will make mistakes, but if they're punishing diving and the other stuff, then the cheats will think twice before trying it on.

Greenacre superb so far.  Sticking every first touch and finding players with every pass.  And tireless running as per usual.

Ifill terrific, Lia right up there too. Caceres anonymous.

he may have got the ball but came through the back of Brown to get it. Foul. Foul inside the box = pen.

Yes it was, Ifill took it and we're 1-0 up

We've had bad decisions go against us, lets just relish one going for us

Worried about Manny. Will surely be sent if he keeps playing like he is.

We're up 1-0. Thats all I care about.

If it went the other way we'd all be having tanty's and throwing wobblies.

I'll take it. Gratefully.

Had a look on MySky a few times and to me he goes through Browns ankles prior to getting the ball. Really he (and Miller!) should be questioning why the hell he chose to go off his feet in that situation - for that exact reason. There was no threat with Brown back to goal on the corner of the box like that.

Fairly even half - we dominated minutes 5-25 and they extremely dominated 25-40.

come on guys. yeah maybe it wasn't 100% a penalty but it's not like Van Der Brink sneezed and Brown fell over (like Brosque would do!), it was a dangerous tackle in a risky place. Tough decision on the referee.

I love Manny but I want him subbed off. I'd rather break the Durante-McKain CB partnership than playing with 10 men for 35'!!! Siggy will kick Smeltz out of the game.

I would have thought that this was the clearly defining moment. Player wasn't looking for it. Had he been taken, Brown would have been up in arms

What is it they say about karma? We haven't had many bad decisions against us this year in comparison to years gone by so we'll take it to balance the ledger of previous years

on first view, i thought was clear penalty, seeing it in full speed again thought same thing, when slowed down maybe not, but the ref cant slow down time or see replays. i think if we all just seen at full speed would of called it.

Have a look on the scoreboard - i know it was a penalty

We've had plenty of poor calls cost us games, don't mind taking one

Defenders shouldn't take those sort of risks if they don't want penalties.  Tough.

Handy thing MySky. Instant rewind is great.

Ref is on a hiding to nothing trying to call that, whichever way he goes. Overall, he seems to be having a decent game though. And well done to the linesman who's given all the offsides and has been shown to be getting them right, even the one where Porter screamed at him to open his eyes!

Agreed on Greenie. One of the best games i've seen him play (so far, 45 to go..). The job of the front man in a 4-3-3 isn't to make the awesome scything runs, it's to hold it up and play in the likes of Caceres and Ifill which he has been doing brilliantly - sometimes against 3 defenders. valeo2010-02-07 22:06:00

Yes but not from Breezes angle and to back that up, Miller was going mental. Not at the ref but at the player who has a history of doing stupid tackles from behind in the penalty area.

Now we need to score a quick double in the second half to kill this off. Agree with the earlier post, Siggy on for Manny and Leo on for Caceres. McCain to DM and Siggy into the back line.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

something I forgot: great feed from the GCU changing rooms. Fair enough, the game has been quite even so they have the right to be pissed off. But once they start attacking each other, that can really bring them down. Let's hope Miller stirs up some trouble with his own team mate.

Reckon Miller will be off soon. He was pretty angry in dressing room (probably coz he hadn't had a pie for 45 minutes)

Would like to see Leo in the 2nd half. He ripped GC a new one last time at Skilled.

Have seen next to nothing of him since about the 20th minute. Mind you, that's about the point we stopped playing that nice passing buildup game and started hoofing it from the back.
