Fantastic second half defensive team performance - created enough on the break too - hopefully still have enough petrol in the tank for CCM Friday. ozespri2010-02-07 23:06:38

GET. IN. THERE.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I just think that was absolutely excellent.  Really excellent.  Good point made above that the Phoenix could possibly be back there on March 6....and would certainly back themselves.

Of course the Nix have a hoodoo against GCU - we are the only side who know how to counter Smeltzy.

I'm coming down from Auckland for Friday's game. :)

You can say what you like about Miron, but at least the Post Match interviews are interesting when he's involved

Small point here...no yellow for Tim Brown tonight, meaning he can afford to get one next week and still not miss any playoff games.

Stout fella.

We've got the measure of GCU, but Tards have the measure of us.  If we have a bit of luck we could upset Old bling but not likely.

Smeltzy, what's the score?

I'm pretty chuffed Judas and his mob could score against us in three games.

That was the best  defensive effort of the season (being away from home and at such a vital time of the season) . Durrante and McKain were relentless, never backed down and beat  back attack after attack. Combined with Lia and Brown camped in front thats got to be an insurers wet dream.

Full of confidence now that we have the defensive mettle to push for the title. Hoping we can secure 4th and would prefer Newcastle over Perth.

You know what really amazes me? Looking at the 442 comments boxes and seeing that Australian football fans respect the Nix now. They respect us, and they fear the Cake Tin. Making Aussies respect Kiwis? That's amazing.

A thought for Terry S - how happy must he so deservedly be ?

I so hope we can do the business on Friday and give something back to T S.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

In his defence m'lud he does appear to be afflicted with severe Aucklandism.

Woohoo!!! that's the stuff!  Overall well done Wellington Phoenix.
You have put yourselves in the box seat for fourth (and seriously dented the GCU intent of a 1st place finish. How sad.)
 Top shelf effort.
Maintained the GCU bogey team status also.
GCU and Shane Smeltz have never scored against us.  1 draw, 2 wins...WF 7   GCU 0   so far.

Solid defence... Dura and McKain were outstanding,Lochy and Hearfield good efforts overall. Lia hassled the hell out of Charlie Miller and Culina to a lesser extent. Brown some good moments.Muscat torid time of it too.good move to sub him by Ricki when he did.
Ifill was great ...loving his penalties...but noticeably more passes from him going astray this week and in recent weeks. Certainly a case of very close marking on him shutting down his options way faster. Greenacre just keeps running. What a ticker he's got. Shame he skied his shot on goal. Caceras not as convincing as recent games, but good effort.Leo great touches and pressure at the end.
I've gone off Dadi since the Perth debacle, he held up well a couple of times but for
a man of his size seemed largely ineffectual when challenged.Still, every bit helps.
Reddy, what a master in goal. Hope he finds Wellington a more attractive option next season.
