Daniel by a mile! He played awesome :D

Coveny was impressive as well, quite a bit of pace still left in those legs

Its' really really really hard to say, I mean when you see a game like this, who the hell is to be named name of the match?
I would say Captain Aloisi, Smeltz, Coveny or Lockhead for having found the net
I would say Daniel or Felipe cause they are from another planet and enlightened the pitch with their touches
I would say Mossy cause he made two or three extremely important saves during the game
I would say Dodd cause he did not less anyone pass..

I think with a game like this, it's almost impossible to name a player of the match.

You know, I know it's all about being positive about the better player rather than highlighting somebody else's shortcomings, but.... what am I missing about Smeltz?

I have yet to see him apply the awareness of a decent striker since the season started, yet he seems to get a decent set of votes each MOTM vote.

Somebody please clear this up for me as he frustrates me each game.

well he does do an excellent job of holding the ball up, he's strong , and he finds the back of the net pretty regularly..also good in the air

but what did the romans ever do for us....

Funny, because I don't see it. I see someone who's pretty slow and gets caught offside way too often. Not to mention his crossing is pretty poor. Also for someone who's job it is to score goals, he seems to be a bit shy when given a shooting chance...

Ask yourself - how many goals has he scored so far? 3? A goal every 2nd game. Not a bad return.  He does seem to go invisible for large parts of the game but pops up out of nowhere and scores important goals.

sorry, don't mean to take this personally, although I am from Rome, but let's see what we invented, developed or made accessible:
1) the modern calendar
2) blocks of flats and villas
3) running water
4) the modern alphabet
5) lots and lots of literature and history
6) we invented the idea of Western Society, at least before the Americans cocked it up
7) colosea and stadia (plural of coloseum and stadium)
8) the newspaper
9) Europe, although the Empire extended well over Armenia, Egypt and, of course, Britain
10) coins
11) the Fire Brigade
12) Carnival, Mardi Gras and Christmas and the habit of having parties for one's birthday (these were all Roman festivals)

Oh dear. Have you found the quote yet and realised that Danny was (indirectly) paying you a compliment?

PS:

6) we invented the idea of Western Society, at least before the Americans cocked it up

Huh? At the risk of raising the spectre of Pavlos, Greece, dear boy. Most of what you named came from Greece. You missed the electric battery though - that would have been a good and valid claim. And fascism, but let's not go there.

According to Virgil, who I assume you know, Rome was formed by the Trojans after the sacking of Troy. Read Virgil's Aeneid.

I think these thread may now be due for closure.

Coveny was great and I was amazed at how fast he is for his age. Daniel was doing what we all knew he could if he stayed up on his feet and put his mind to it.

But Lochhead gets my vote. Just a superb partnership there on the left with Daniel.

What'll be interesting against against Queensland is how Felipe plays without Daniel.  If you watch Felipe closely, he seems happiest when linking up with Daniel - I don't know if they have become good friends, or if it's just a Brasilian thing.  I'd be interested in seeing what happens if Ricki brings George in and plays him wide on the left (he's played plenty on the right and he's skilled footed enough to play on the left and cut inside to shoot/cross).
