What we need was accurate nip crossing, more wall passes, spreading of the defence and the need to knock the shooting with some impact. The harder the shot, the more accurate it becomes.AllWhitebelievr2008-11-23 20:02:24

I'm not so sure. We were playing pretty well and had the better of the game until JG was shafted. It's just the tactics which were poor when we had the extra man/men.

2 - 0

Agree with that. Something for TonyP to work on for next year.

Sunday nights are for the family, a sunday roast, church even.  Not (constantly) for f**king Nix football.

I take it that's another way of saying 'until JG was rightfully sent off for being a complete dickhead, losing the plot for no reason whatsover and lashing out at a player with his boot long after the ball was gone'

I agree, JG totally lost it there,  he could be spending a few weeks off for that one

Anyone else think Dodd was lucky not to join JGBP for retaliation?

Perhaps everyone waited fro Fred to deliver everything and they forgot to play themselves and make things happen and  to give him more room..and time.

Quite possibly Dodd could have gone as well, but I'd like to have seen what he did from another camera angle.

Nothing spectacular. Little glimpses here and there of what he can do. Take a couple of games to see the best of him I reckon

El**ch what a t**ser. Ran away from the ball straight into Karl Dodd and went over. Breeze does a consolation leveller decision.

And then he goes in on Paston with a spikes up challenge.

Paston got a bit of luck, but will take some confidence from his improving form at the end of the game.

Thought we dominated the game, good to get a clean sheet and a 2 goal win. Top 4 here we come!

We left it to late though to win the game.. With only 9 players on the field we should of been hoping for a bigger victory but this is our first game that we have won by 2 or more goals in quite some time so a good victory for us overall.

That was probably one of the most frustrating Phoenix games I have seen... until we scored twice! Good to see our goals werent scored by smeltz and they werent penalties

Very frustrating game to be at- until the 79th. Thank god we scored a couple. Think it is difficult to comment on particular players as pretty much anyone will look decent against 9 men. Biggest thing for me... I don't understand why you get a guest player, and still persist with the wide ball crap, particularly after Lochy would have had 10 crosses saved by Covic. If it doesn't work, try a different tactic, ie. playing it to Fred (through the middle). When he did have the ball I was very impressed by what he did with it, there were a couple of times where he just showed pure class and creativity.

Surprised that a couple of people put Leo down, thought he was pretty decent out there today. Also well done to Mickey for taking some freaking initiative and having A COUPLE OF SHOTS.

Biggest thing to take from it is that if the wide play isn't working, change tactics and play through the middle. Should have punished them 5-0+, frustrating, however, any win is a good win, so well done lads.

Great result tonight. Lots to improve but the passing was a lot better, particularly before the send-offs. Pity we couldn't score more against nine men, but that win puts us right back in the mix for a top four position at the end of the season.

I hate the stupid and useless long passes, looked better when the ball was played along the ground.

Smeltz scored, as did Hearfield.

Agreed. Leo had a great game. He always comes out full tilt and seems to fade a bit at the end... but he was one of the standouts tonight.

Billboard was already up in my bus stop when I left for the game, good dedication from the Billboard putter-uppers.

Can't complain about a win however I'd like to see us have a go a bit more. Take more shots and look for more through balls in the middle. There's nothing more frustrating than watching 79 minutes of excellent build-up play only for nothing to come from it. Fred certainly has the potential to win games for us and I really hope he starts to have the odd shot.

First half was great, some good linking play with Fred, Leo and Ferrante but never really threatened. Our shots lacked power. Intensity dropped in the second. Delivery was shocking,
Lochead had a 'mare, he didnt deliver one decent ball.
Hearfield needs to start but probably not room with Fred in the mix.
Muscat had a cracker and he deserves to retain his position
Dodd was average.
Whats with giving away neeedless fouls to a team down to 9 men!

Despite the score we were not our best.
Maybe start Fred and Daniel but doubt RH will do that.

But thank christ we won!!!!!

He is a great creative force within the team and I thought he really performed tonight. Maybe a few of his crosses were a bit lacking early on but overall he was pretty good.

Probably already all been covered, but just got back from game

didn't feel like a comprehensive win. not entertaining at all, Fred and Bertos showed good touches but apart from that is seemed very stilted.

That was some pretty good football from us tonight, gotta give the Newcastle defenders some credit they did really well to keep us out for as long as they did,we sure did it tough in the zone tonight but happy to come away with three points, were on a run now lets see how long it can last

Good to get three points, but it wasn't as convincing as it probably should have been.

Too many players that were just average again. What is it with playing with passion and commitment away from home then cominng home and playing like that? Smeltz was invisible all game, Lochhead was poor and we had little in the way of creative play again.
I want to know why the hell didn't Daniel play with Fred?
and why wasn't Smeltz subbed? is it because he's the star? I think anyone playing below their best should be pulled if it's for the best. I forgave him for scoring a goal that few others would have won, but the other 89 mins?
On the bright side, Bertos is giving it everything. Moss can't save penalties so glad Paston was there and the Ref was magnificent!!!!

What's happened to our crowds?

According to the TV, there was 5500 there. I went up from Ch-Ch last year to a Perth game and there was 9200 there, which was one of the lowest of the season.

Sunday 6pm - is not the ideal time for a game?

Will Friday evening bring another 4k in the gate? Can't see it... unfortunately

Moss saved a penalty against Sydney last year.
