Just spotted Bridges and a couple of others wandering down Featherston Street.  Might have been Rooney with him.

Did you give them a wave?

We contemplated popping out of the pub to insult them, but getting up seemed like too much effort.

I haven't been following the Jets closely, but I thought that Lubo has been out injured in recent weeks. Is he back in the squad? If so will it be either Ange/Hyphen/Lubo as the CB pairing. Hope its the two former.

Think they've been playing Hyphen and Kantarovski with ConAnge playing in front of them.

Only reason I'd want to see Ferrante back in the team is for a repeat of last years mo.

Woooooooo!

Forcast is for rain after lunch and then gale force NW.....our boys will be well used to that. Looking forward to seeing the Phoenix extend their unbeaten run. Newcastle are an average, crap team...if we can't beat them at home then we might as well give up!

If its true that Daniel has had 5 stitches in his bonce to go with the dislocated shoulder then he will be a very sore boy. I had a shoulder pop like that and it was bloody sore 2 days later. Big raps on the guy for playing on last weekend. Would not be surprised if he sat this one out....opportunity for Hearfield or Caceras.

Ferrante's mo last year was savage and, in my opinion, probably means he deserves a few starts.  He's been mediocre but better than some, no doubt.

I'm happy to see Fabio Vignaroli out, may his calf bother him for years to come!

Ljubo Milicevic?  He the one who mentioned watching a heap of porn in his break from football?  Never remember which player it is but I know it's a Jets player and I chuckled to myself.

Ljubo is back in the squad for this week, as is Jason Hoffman who scored two in the opening round 3-2 loss over in Newcastle.

Hoffman is awful.  His scoring two against us should be one of the great Phoenix shames.

Lame, of the couple of games I have seen Ljubo has stood out as one of their best players.

If the talk of last week is true and we will rest some guys this week seems strange to be doing it against Perth, they are the better side of the two we are to face and if we want to climb the ladder they are the kind of teams we need to beat. Seems pretty clear from watching him on tele and at the ground that Leo could do with a break, wonder what is going on there.

I wonder if the loss at the weekend changed things in Rickis mind.

If we rest players because there's an All Whites game coming up I'll be seriously annoyed.

Maybe he will be on the bench with Costa getting a start?

Don't think this'll be an easy game for us at all.

Haliti's a really good player, as is Song.

Not to mention Bridges, who has shown a lot of class since arriving at the Jets. Make no mistake, they are dangerous on attack. I don't have a good feeling about this game at all.

Could be quite a few goals I reckon. Hopefully we come out on the right side of the ledger.

I think Newcastle are better than their results may indicate. Hopefully we can play well and get the result. Quietly confident, but I think some fans are regarding Newcastle to be easier than they are.

Jets without Vignaroli, that's good news for us I think.

Not so sure about the Jets defence, their attack has been improving though.

Paston needs to be 100% to start, but I think I'd still prefer him starting with an injury than watch Crowther againArd Righ2009-11-03 19:29:18

Rather leave Paston out anyway and have Gould on the bench .

also their goalie has the worst haircut in the A-League so I'm picking we'll score 4 and their keeper won't see any of them as his hair will be blowing all over his face

Agreed. Aussies should probably add that to their list of reasons for wanting us out of the comp as because of those 2 goals Hoffman got an extended run in their U20 team at the WC.

Vignaroli has been good also so it evens out a bit.

I've been very, very impressed with Bridges. Stands out for me. Haliti has been suprisingly good since coming back to the league also and Song is always dangerous. Elrich seems to play well against us all the time as well so it wont be an easy game.

yep Bridges/Haliti looked like a dangerous combo up front...and Ljubo has experience...all the teams have quality- it's just what mood they show up in...

edit:
"We'd probably go with Costa up front with Greenie (Chris Greenacre) and keep Paul (Ifill) wide -- I think he's causing lots of problems out there when he gets into those areas."

sounds promising...if Costa is moving around and Greenacre crumbing...let's hope they can live up to it. Come on Phoenix!

You reckon there will be any fireworks at the stadium on Wednesday (Real ones i mean). The day before gyforks and that.

Convinced a few newbies to come along to this one. Hope they get hooked.

yeah its gonna be a tough one boys. But very winnable. We've got the right balanced formation at the moment I feel, and it just depends on the mentality of the players, which is usually quite positive at home. Their attack forces are quite good, but if we can focus Lia and Brown into targeting their central offence like they did against Gold Coast, then we are always a good chance.

Gutted I cant get to this one with work tomorrow night.

3-0 to the nix. Ifill early on, then late goals from Greenacre and Lia.

get an e-ticket online, then you can get in on a childs ticket like whooooo does.

But nah i reckon 15-20mins before the game should be ok (especially tomorrow).By the time you then get in,food/drinks etc,you got a few minutes to settle in before teams are named.
