Quit the sour grapes, Perth won and they have a chance against either of the other 2. That's why they play the games.

They were shaded by Perth, but gave it their all, that is for sure, and cant ask for more.

Didnt think they would get this far, so it has been a great ride, thank you team.

Not bad at all for a season where we were completely written off before a ball had been kicked in anger.

Pity we lost Seamoster, can't help but think he would have stopped at least one of those two goals.

We MUST put together a title winning team next season

A title winning team would mean at least 5 new players.
Not going to happen.

Gutted, the game changed when Siggy went off and McGarry came on for the Glory. We played some nice football in parts, onwards and upwards for next season.

Thanks for a great season guys.If anybody had said at the start of the season this is where you would have taken us we probably would have had them committed. Can only have them off season dreams about what will happen next season with an incident free build up and hopefully some decent signings and please a couple with some pace.

The only person happy in this house is the Mrs she seems to think the money put aside to travel to Gosford is going to be spent elsewhere. It will be on a couple of away trips next season.

Would think there would probably be at least that many given those who wont be there next season. Its not about the number anyway but the quality.

Not quite certain of that, another 2 or 3 might be enough if: a] they are quality and b] Ricki uses them properly

But I don't agree with this one. We're getting a new reserve team for next season and with Ricki's scouting in Europe and South america.. we'll have more than 5 new ones.

It shows that in the end true grit can take you so far but it's the depth in your squad that makes a huge difference. Perth's subs gave them a big lift at a vital time and fashioned the winning goal. Unfortunately our subs made almost no impact.

That said, like nearly everyone else I never imagined we'd fly so high. An amazing achievement.

When they equalised, we should have put Ward on for Bertos to try and regain the momentum. But you are right, they won this game from the subs bench.

Not so, we already have one new player on the books, a guy called Pantelis still to play for us so that makes 4.  No more Brown, possibly no more Daniel, bye bye 2 other squad players/youth players.

Very possible.

Tend to agree^^

The difference- loss of SigmUnd + subs that didn't make enough of a difference..thats pretty much it.
Good game though, Good Season all up.
All the best Tim Brown, you're a gentleman and (soon to be again) a scholar..looking forward to your stint at running NZ Football in the future.
Farewell and thanks to those players leaving,

Siggy getting injured really cost us.
Still great showing by the guys, just didn't have the legs for the last 10+extra.
Can't wait till next season. We get to keep our solid defensive base and build on our midfield and striker stocks.
Thanks for a great season, next one cannot come soon enough.

Great season guys. Thanks to new owners for the rescue. Great run with the most appalling off season in  A League "short history".  So much guts. No question, with the right signings we will reach the Grand Final next season. Not rocket science. Young fast technically good and fast players to add to this squad who've spent so much time together, will make us the team to beat.
Re tonight .. SigmUnd leaving the field was such a blow. Not criticising Ricky after what he's had to put up with pre season, but expected Pav's fresh legs and speed to be thrown on early tonight, but Ferguson won that round with a master stroke.

Message to the new owners. Signing a name (that wants to be here for the right reasons) shouldn't be ruled out. Half of Wellington (public service) is being made redundant right now, with more to come, so the X factor is critical.  Last friday night, 10 thousand Nix fans turned up while the swingers decided to stay in the pubs or at home with the their kids (kickoff was 8pm) to watch Super Footy and the Breakers playoff. I was surprised we had 10,000 there.

PS Paul Ifill (along with RH and the squad that have stayed here) deserve to have the speedy technicians sign on to win this damn thing. How could a side whose players couldn't count on their money coming thru the ATM stick it out here, let alone make this elimination final, and give it such a shakeup.

I disagree, I think we are 3 players away from a title winning team.

Replace Sanchez, Greenacre & Brown from tonights starting line up with quality imports, and we wouldnt be too far off.

3 simple reasons we lost last night - for mine it was a very winnable game
1) siggy got injured and the best CB combo was broken
2) 2 soft goals, see above
3) once again Ifill is brought down in the box, no penalty. 2-1 becomes 3 - 1 and Perth have got nothing

the lads can be proud of where they've finished but I'd expect dissappointed at hopw they lost that match.

I reckon we keep this squad together with 3/4 changes and it's a winning team. Bertos to go, Pav to go, Warner to go, Brown replaced with a dirstributing midfielder.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/6709774/Penalty-should-have-been-called-Herbert

^^

But no point crying over spilt milk. I thought the penalty should have been given but it wasn't as blatant as some that have been not called this year.

Still a cracking game of football and a great year for the Nix! Thanks to the team and Ricki and Uncle Gareth and co and the bus driver for an epic season.

A few key signings and maybe a bit of aura and we can win it next year!

+1 Greenie was the best player on the park. Was great last week too.
shows how effective his work up front is if the rest of the team actually supports him. Pitty he isn't a few years younger.

Still feeling a bit glum today.  Incredibly proud though.  The key moment was def Siggy coming off.  Otherwise I reckon we would have held on.

Looking forward to next season and having Mossy back!
