Exactly.  I'd be talking up the opposition if I were them.  Saying stuff like that just blows up in your face.  And we will look foolish.

I hope so much we can beat them, I don't care how our goals come, a Vukovic howler, or an own goal.  I'll take it if we go through to the next stage.

He might not make it on the field to back up his words depending on extent of groin niggle.  Who else could take..oops I mean keep.. Smeltz out...

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

I just had a thought, I have quite a few kiwi friends in Perth who seam to go to a fair amount of sport events over there that involve kiwi teams. Given the fact it will be tough for most people here to make the trip I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to create a Facebook page/event where all Nix fans could invite/suggest to their Perth mates (and their Perth mates) to spread the word and get some numbers in that away fans zone. Thoughts?

It's a great idea. I've got an uncle and his family who moved there from here ten years ago.

If there is someone who has experience promoting events and/or using Facebook for something like this that might be better suited to kick it off, I'd get behind it. If not I could give it a crack but I'm not that flash on the bookface thing.

Well I've started spreading the word on my own facebook, the first mate I talked to said he's going to get as many there as possible, he and his mates there have been going to all the kiwi team's games and were already planning on going. He's keen to make a bigger effort for this one though because it's a final, gonna get a big crew and wear as much yellow as possible.

That is far too simplistic. That's like saying we are a one man team with Ifill.

I'm not saying it's the only thing we need to do to win the game, I'm saying it will go a long way in helping to win.

Leo saying this - "We've had some great results against Central Coast, Brisbane and Perth this season, so why can't we go all the way?" Bertos said on Wednesday."

Really Leo, we lost all our games to CCM, we only beat Brisbane and Perth once this season.  Our
Leo isn't the brightest is he.

Thanks Junior82, It's great to know that the effort I go to 3 or 4 times a season is appreciated by a small few!

Was there a reason given for why the acclimatising in Sydney and not Perth?

I think it is so that they become accustomed to the time difference gradually (a 2 hour change and then another 2 hour change), rather than all 4 hours at once.patrick4782012-04-05 11:55:20

At this stage a few of my mates have mustered up a dozen or so kiwi's who will be there and they're still working on getting more to go along. Have told them to purchase away team supporters tickets.

For those not on Twitter, Piney tweets from today:

"Ben SigmUnd running freely. No sign of the niggle that limited his involvement yesterday"

"Beaut day in Sydney as #wgtnphoenix have final training session before flying to Perth. Spirits appear high, nice buzz amongst players"

Encouraging.

Date: Saturday 7 April, 2012
Kick-off: 7.30pm AEST, 5.30pm local
Venue: nib Stadium

Head-to-head
Played: 16 Wins: Perth 6, Wellington 7, Draws: 3

Previous encounter
Perth 1, Wellington 0, 8 January 2012

History:
They might be over 5000km apart, but there's not a great deal separating these two sides in terms of their results, with the Phoenix laying claim to only a slender advantage in the head-to-head stakes.

However, it's the Glory who have had the upper hand this season with two wins from their three fixtures - one at nib Stadium, the other at the Ring of Fire in Wellington. On top of that the Phoenix have only won twice in seven attempts in Western Australia.

Form:
Past five matches:
Perth: WWLWW
Wellington: WDLLW

Did you vote in the survey at the bottom?

I looked for the "F***in hope not" option, but couldn't see it.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Nice answer, and I suppose training in Perth would be hard after the one long flight
but I wonder if training there would have been better preparation than in Sydney

No, I was actually looking for the "I don't care" option
