If Paston doesn't dive enough, maybe we should think about getting Jeronimo as our goalkeeper.
I wasn't happy last year when Paston watched some balls in from 30 yards but I don't get the angst about him this season

yeah `i agree, I think it's a weird habit he's gotten into but that was just a good shot into the corner yesterday
Normo's coming home
not sure if he could have got to the ball at all, but how can a keeper be so flat footed when you know a shot is about to come your way?
Surely the basic principle of goalkeeping would tell you to stay on your toes at all times and be ready to dive.
I havent seen him dive at full stretch since the Italy game
Paston - has lead feet.
Although, siggy left Dura and Bertos in a stink position - again - he's done it a number of times this season. Bombed up the pitch and been in the mids when a goal is scored by the man he should be marking.

Is it a deliberate tactic for Ifill to play right back this season?
It was noticable a few times in the game that he dropped back or stayed back when Bertos and Siggy were having a run up field. I am not sure if it's a tactic to save him some running, but I'd rather see him bombing forward with the ball than him play right back in place of Bertos.
Also noticed him in the second half after he clutched at his leg was walking a fair amount - would have been a great time to sub him off, but he stayed on the field until near the end.
I really don't know what is expected to happen with Ifill if this is how the season is going to continue.

yeh it was- I was glad it wasn't harnwell cos I didn't think he was that much of a tool

Not sure if it is to do with Leo?
But initially when we were playing a "4132" formation, our wide players needed to be a lot more defensive. But when we shift to a 433 then Ifill has to be further forward but he is still sitiing a lot deeper. For me he needs to be a striker or wide player with ZERO defensive duties

To be fair his comments were otherwise OK. Was quite complimentary of the Nix and many of our players, especially Siggy. Good to hear Mike Cockerill doing the commentary too. At least he's not biased like the usual Perth guy or that Adelaide twit with his ridiculous "Jeronimoooooooo" cry.

for mine siggy has been doing it too often this season, he's been well advanced when we've conceded at least 3 times. not saying it's directly his fault but he's paid to be a defender first not a midifiedler - he should be ficcussed on those duties, especially when he has an RB learning the role beside him.

With us playing three in the middle away from home, why isn't Lindsey getting called up as cover. He's the obvious replacement for a more central role.
Having three out and out attackers seems a little all my eggs in one basket for my liking.
You have to ask what is Lindsey not doing at training?

Two potential surprise packages here. Maybe 3 if Benjamin Totori gets going. Leo at right back is doing way better than he's being given credit for (and that includes me). And Alex Smith shows real potential being pushed forward. He is a striker after all, and has scored one or 2 class goals. Support Herbert's desire to add pace, but man, seeing what Ange did last week when a man down early, just shows how flexible you have to be with subs. Herbert seemingly cannot make any change until after 65 mins, ort when we've just gone 2 down.

Smith, who has played for various lower league Australian clubs and been a member of FC Dallas in the MLS, said playing centre midfield was ideal for him.
"Everybody always wants to be in the thick of things and that's the place where you can do a lot of defensive work and get forward as well. So it's certainly my preferred position. But I'm happy to play wherever the gaffer wants me to play.

Obviously Tim Brown still has the Herbert photo's that he had. He should have passed them on.
