Really hoping we can take this one out and play the game for the full 90.  Victory game was heartbreaking.

Hopefully we can take in the same team to this one, but add Greenacre (somehow keeping a lot of attacking midfielders).  Sigmund could well be cited for his punch on Leijer.  We really need him in the squad and if he doesn't get suspended then he's a lucky guy.  Such stupidity, especially after Muscat's brainsnap.

Hopefully Hearfield and Lochhead have great games this week.  With both wingbacks pushing forward it really shows how dangerous we can be.  We could be far more dangerous as well if we could get a few more of our crosses on target.

My squad:
                     Paston
         Sigmund     Durante
Hearfield                       Lochhead
             Lia      Brown
                 Caceres
    Bertos                    Ifill
                Greenacre

Subs:
Crowther
McKain (straight swap for Siggy should he be banned for his stupidity)
Daniel (don't care if all his family are watching)
Barbarouses (very reluctant to put him on the bench)

Mostly agree, but would put Caceres on the left, and maybe Ifill into the middle

My ideal team would be:

    ----------------- Paston ------------------

Disco Troy---Siggy------Durante-----Lochy

    Leo--------Brown---Lia-------Daniel

                Costa/Greenie---Ifill

Subs:
McKain
Caceres
Costa/Greenie?
Crowther

Ifill is so much better out wide, he gets the chance to run at players

I vote back to 442. This:

                  Paston
Hearfield McKain Durante Lochhead
               Lia       Brown
Bertos                             Daniel
           Greencare  Ifill

Crowther
Mulligan
Caceres
Barbarouses

Thats assuming Siggy gets sited. That'll mean we need Mulligan as defensive cover (scary thought)
Then Caceres I'm dropping because he hasn't seemed to play as well as he did off the bench and Daniel at last has a better understanding of Lochhead's movement.

before this thread gets too far, please note the following:

Chen & Mulligan are AWFUL. Don't include them in the squad, they're rubbish.

That is all.

                    Paston
Hearfield McKain Durante Lochhead
               Lia       Brown
Bertos                             Caceres
           Greenacre  Ifill

Bench:
The Crow
Daniel
Barbarouses
Diego

Have assumed Sigmund will be banned.

Would rather have no defensive cover than have mulligan wasting space on the bench, so Diego gets in.

Hope Greenacre is back, guess Mckain can cover if Siggy is banned.

Please don't play Ifill alone up front. And Costa was sh*t last night.

You can't drop Daniel....last few games he has put players through on goal with great passes on quite a few occasions. plus he has got a wicked cross on him.
To me Caceras is an impact player who can do his tricky wing sh*t late in the game when the defenders are tired.

Id like to see lochead up front to save our goal scoring problems. Hes certainly got the ability to be able to get away with playing in any position at this lowly level by his standards.

Did YF sell all the Santa Hats last night? If not is there any chance of getting 4 before next week's Palmy match?

Well I have heard that Santa is a Geordie:

And things haven't been too flash for a while now up Tyneside and he still seems to deliver things down here (e.g. AWs qualifying, Paul Ifill, Mark Paston).Junior822009-12-06 00:04:39

Bit off topic but i can't see why Mulligan is included in the AWs if he cant get a game with the Phoenix, especially with the suspensions/injuries? Seems kind of sad.

I agree!! there are alot of young talent knocking on the door. If mulligan play a single game this season for Phoenix then he should not be in the AW's.

If i remember correctly he played up front for Doncaster Rovers. Then i think Doncaster trained him to be a right back cause they had too much good strikers and not enough wing backs.

Apparently Mulligan will be getting a bigger slice of the WC players payout than Nelsen, Fallon, Wood because its based on number of games played including qualifiers and mully played in all the Vanuatu, Fiji, New Cal games.....funny old world isn't it!!!!

Well Mulligan was our one of our best against Vanuatu, saving us from a dissapointing draw.
