After watching that game last night i've decided we should flag this season and prepare for the future.  I'd be more than happy to watch this team lose a few games as I truely believe that firstly they would try, secondly they would play attacking football and thirdly will improve over time.

                            Paston

Sigmund     Dodd        Durante      Lochead

                  Ferrante   McKain

I like this one:

                      Moss

Sigmund   Dodd   Durante    Lochhead

Bertos      Ferrante       McKain      Barbarouses

                 Draper       Smeltz

Bench:

Paston
Brown
Daniel
Muscat

Paston was not to blame for the first goal but he coulda done more to stop it.  No chance on second.

I say another attacker instead of brown, give hearfield another go and least he tried to shoot at goal. Erm, hmm maybe not. Not easy this selection business.

I say we play either all Kiwi's or all Australians, then at least they will all talk to each other.

All I ask is for the team to put in a 100% effort and go for 95 minutes if necessary, not just the last 5 minutes. Come on lads (players), show everyone you mean business.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

We need to be dismantling for this season.

so we just give up and use the" preparing for next season" statement which covers all the bases
O for awesome
we'll never win a farking thing in this league
it's just giving all the knockers more ammo

Will they send more players over keeping in mind the team are not coming home before Sydney or are we stuck with the players we've got? I wouldn't be disappointed if Plodder and or Mully got a run in midfield as well as seeing Hearfield get another shot. Something has to be done about morale though, they do not look like a happy team that want to play for each other

Paston was dreadful last night and I've only put him on the bench because there has to be a keeper there.  Christie's a good player, everybody has hassled him but I can only think of one bad mistake by him (vs CCM last year at home), and he definitely deserves a chance.  After the way we've been playing it is offensive to the youth players not to play them as it suggests they aren't as good, so they have to play.  Coveny, Gao, and Daniel can retire.

Also should mention that Gao saying he's only using us as a stepping stone to Europe is basically just rude even if it is his intentions.  I should also mention he'll be lucky to make the Romanian 3rd division with a work ethic on par with Daniel.

And all the talk about superior fitness to basically every other team in the league was rubbish.

I dont get it - we used to always say how great moss was and Paston is letting in easy goals so why are we still playing Paston instead of moss?

When has Paston let in an easy goal ?  He could possibly have got his hand to Ruka's first shot, but the truth is our defence stood back and kept waving him through.

Go back and watch Moss against Melbourne and tell me one occassion this season where Paston has looked half as bad.

Goal keeper is the least of our problems right now.

Don't know why everyone is leaving Brown what has he done?? Hearfield was good for us and is fast but Barbarouses is lacking that ball control that Hearfield has so goes to the bench for me.

I think he scored a goal, and had 2 or 3 shots on target, so obviously a problem with the team philosophy there...

Brownie was dreadful last night.  On the occassion where as Vice Captain he should have been frothing at the mouth (Dura is never going to do it) he had a shocker.

Still, one game doesn't make you rubbish and if we dropped every player after one bad game we'd only see Dodd and Siggy remain each week.

Pastons positioning is no where near as good as Moss's (got caught out twice against Perth with one being a goal) and other than the error against Melbourne I think Moss has been gold for the nix, him and smeltz have been our best players.

TBH im sick of Ricks selection justification of stick with a winning team (not that we are winning anymore)...  What happened to best players play?

I think Id start daniel on a wing and bring gao off the bench or start them both..... we have to score therefore our most creative players should play

1) Would be harsh dropping Paston when he hasn't really done anything wrong.
2) I don't think Brown can be dropped. He is one of the few players who  plays with his heart on his sleeve and shows what the shirt means to him (others being Siggy, Dodd, Plodder).
3) I have Ferante in an attacking midfield position at the moment... not sure if this is particularly the best position for him, but I feel his passing game is invaluable to our chances of pulling off a result
4) Coveny on the plane home, he hasn't done anything for me this season, time to give Draper a chance off the bench. At least he has scored goals in warm-up games, and therefor must have shot at goal. Costa also on the bench.
5) Christie looked good to me when he came on against Sydney, similar to Brown he shows what the shirt means to him. Time for another chance.

I quite like this although Hearfield needs to be given a chance he impressed when he did.

It's a tough one... it came down to PLodder or Hearfield for me, and I thought of Plodder marginally before I thought of Hearfield, so he got the nod. Either way I don't think we should stick with last night's team just because they're already over there

How bout go for something new:
                                Paston
    Sigmund      Durante       Dodd      Lochead
    Mulligan       Ferrnate     Brown     Bertos
                       Smeltz      Draper

Johnson
Christie
Daniel

Say were in the lead we can bring on Johnson for Ferrante or if were not then we can bring in Christie or Daniel. Mulligan should get chance in midfield, played there for AWs and scored 3 goals. Keep same back four but Muscat could be given a go (can't take off sigmund so dont know were he'd go)

Anyone know - is there a " local"  in Sydney where Nix fans meet up before wandering along to the game ?
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

sorry shouldn't be sarky. He had a bad game, after previously having good games. Though he did put in a nice ball for Siggie who was playing up front at the time!

Quite like it, although I am tending towards Muscat at left back and giving Lochy the sword as he is a shadow of the player he was.

I caught Ross Aloisi on the radio on Saturday and interestingly he was talking Ferrante in behind Smeltz if playing two defensive midfielders.
