Good goal by Danning, he was well played in by Brosque. Smeltzy looked largely uninterested until the last 2 minutes. Hearfields sending off was a poor decision in my opinion, Brosque should have been red carded at the same time at least... Daniel looked average off the bench too.

What would you red card him for?

Once upon a time it would have been said we would never have beaten Sydney FC 5 out of 6 games, but it happens

Brosque is the biggest t**ser of a player god ever put breath into!!

That was the softess bullshiite sending off i have ever seen...definetly a yellow but not a red. the lads were doing OK up to that point...losing Durante didn't help either.
TBH Sydney was crap.....a decent attacking side would have been up 3-0 by half time. Lets face it, the thing that has been our weakness all season finally let us down when we needed it most...that is our inability to create clear goal scoring chances in front of goal. Even at the end we passed it back and forth 30 metres out and no one looked like they new how to carve out an opening.
To that idiot who said that they wer'nt trying go slam your head in a door.....the problem was they probably let the tension get to them.....if anything they were trying too hard. We had 17 balls into the box first half...and one shot on goal...tells the story!!!!

Well the upside is that I thought Daniel made some really nice moves in this game!! :D

But yes. Pretty depressing. Let's hope our next game will be better!!! <33

Hearfield was dumb and cost us it.

It may have been a "headpush" rather than a "headbutt" , but he was dumb to get involved at all.

We had little chance after that sending off Im afraid.

Was it not Brosque who caused the incident with Hearfield?

I'm not usually one to do this, but I completely blame Heartfield for this loss. He didn't need to do what he did, he should have just walked away, and we wouldn't be a man down. After he was sent off Sydney ran us all over the pitch and just made us look like amateurs.

Well, I guess there's only one game left worth watching (and I doubt we'll do well in that). Can't be bothered watching us play Melbourne as we've got no chance and our playoff chances are finished.

I thought that ben Williams had a very poor game......seemend to completely ignore the fact that Flynn was blatantly handballing all game. Brosque(I never did like him was ) was bitching like a girl after the incident with hearfield even though he had managed to sucker hearfield in with the evntual sending off. i thought that lockhead and Mc Cain had very poor games today and to be honest I thought the game might peter out into a draw...alas not
neverthless rgardless of the result and my bitch about it the phoenix are my team and I will continue to take my seat with the yellowfever and hope that we can bring in a bit of fresh blood for next seasons campaign...PHOENIX PHOENIX

Hearfield will get a long ban I can see the Head-push and that incident in the box that brought Brosque down.

It was a game that summed up our season really. A couple of things here, a couple of things there. Some good stuff, some not so good stuff and a decent goal against us that was relatively simple in creation (1-2), but one we couldn't create ourselves

We have tried hard some games and others just no even shown up. i thought we at least competed in this game compared to some others.
I'll still carry a flame for the last 2 games but we realistically need 6 points because if CCM even get 1 win, we are gone on goal difference. Against Melbourne and Adelaide thats nigh improbable but not impossible.

Hopefully next year we sign a big dominating CM as we do need a feild marshall and a couple of quality strikers. The first step to that is getting FFA to extend the license so we can sign 3 year deals. That and clean some wood out, Coveny, Johnson definitely, the rest well....

Lets cheer then for the last home game of the season. If they possibly needed the points before the Sydney game, well they are non negotiable now.

well said jose...we just arent good enough..no pace..no vision...and seemingly no plan...any reason why our young guys arent getting a run..no chance for draper all season in a team that cant score goals..as for dodd great stopper..damn shame he forgets who he is playing for when he passes..all in all a good solid season but we desperately need some players with a bit of spark to fire up the journeymen we possess specially with smeltz gone next year...as for the sending off well i think itll be a good learning experience for hearfield..

Dude that was a blatant cheap shot forearm to the head. Not cool regardless how you spin it. We are better than that and shouldn't lower our standards. Hearfield will be a marked man if not careful

not serious mate..brosque the w**ker obviously steps into him and hearfield just jumps out of the road..no blatant forearm..

Pull your tongue out of your mates ass already. Man up and admit what your friend did was foolish REGARDLESS of being goaded or not.

As for the forearm? Seriously, I bet you though Terry McFlynns goal was legit too right?

So you also think that we didn't 'try'? That is just stupid. Ricki obviously went out to not lose first and foremost - it's not completely the players fault he didn't show any adventure.

So we like to make it hard for ourselves. Leaving it down to winning our last two games that just happen to be the top two teams. Good move, will have the lads playing their hearts out and getting ready for the playoffs.

2 Games 6 point = playoffs!

Just do it!!
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Shouldn't McFlynn have been booked for deliberate handball when he punched it into the goal?  If a defender had done that to save one we know what the outcome would be...

Blaming Hearfield is like England blaming Beckham for losing to Argentina in 1998. Complete and utter crap! THE WHOLE TEAM LOST NOT JUST HEARFIELD!!!

The Mythbusters would only be able to rate that myth as plausible but inconclusive!

Roddie Vargas last weeks was worse = yellow.

That was a garden variety yellow pal, anyway you spin it and Mayze, if some guy did that to your missus (the headbutt) what would you do??
