There's an ACL spot up for grabs this weekend. Melbourne, Adelaide and Queensland all want it.

There will be no reason for Adelaide to not go for broke against CCM on Sunday after the Friday and Saturday results. If Queensland beats Perth by 2 or more at home (as they are expected to), it means Adelaide will have to win to claim the minor premiership.

Melbourne of course will want to spank us to get themselves in the hunt.

Melbourne weren't great against CCM and were lucky to win 3-0. We're gonna have to show a lot more than we have in away games (we've lost our past three away).

If we can't win, I'd still rather have a draw and mean that we WILL finish 5th and most likely cost those Tards the automatic ACL berth.

Well done Wellington, you just gave Melbourne the premiership. Now everyone hates you! Besides Melbourne. By the way, could you not put Moss in goals because he's like.. going to Melbourne next season?? All Moss has to do is let 3 or 4 goals in on purpose and he will be off to the ACL next year.
So please, Australia is relying on you to beat Melbourne.

Thanks, on behalf of Australia excluding Melbourne.

Also, if you beat the tards, we will repay you by beating CCM. Wellington is my 2nd favorite A-League team.
So i hope you do well in the finals, but i would rather beat Melbourne in the grand final than Wellington. Thanks.

I think that comes back to the fact that teams run at us through the middle where as we tend to play a wide crossing game which seems slower.

I can remember Charlie Miller in the game against us were he slotted 2 and him steaming down the middle of the pitch with the ball at his feet thinking 'he's quite quick' then I had to slap myself as I realised he is actually a fat bastard with no pace at all.

It was seriously stupid

Good luck to your lads next week - I don't want Queensland to win the Premiership, and next week's fixture means I don't want Melbourne to win either!

Mckain has to start. doesnt matter if he gets a card, atleast he will be crucial in the time before he sees red.

It is humourous from United123 but if Melbourne were to win then Moss would get to play in Asia next year.........
Back on track - he's not that stupid!
Is he?

Brown has done us a disservice by getting the cards, so McKain will have to play like he did yesterday.
Daniel's only got 45 minutes in him so I'll be interested if it's at the start or end. I'm picking the end. Costa to get another crack.

He may be fat, but can he play? Any Nix player played at the standard he has.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Can't wait for this game.  Basically McKain has to be brutal and has to cripple there midfield (I'm not speaking in metaphors).  It's inevitible he'll get a redcard so he has to take a couple of them out with him   Yes, he'll be suspended next week, but we'll have Brown back who can do the same and then for the game after that we'll have McKain back again (and it keeps going like that).

Moss has everything to play for. He isn't gauranteed the keeper spot at Melbin next year if Theo is still around so he has to impress against his new team

smae team with Plodder in for Brown, suits me......we can play 4 - 4 - 2 and attack get an early lead and secure it with another goal in the 46th

Queenslander 3x a year.

Don't mean to rehash old ground but losing Brown is a crucial blow. He was definitely the player we needed against a side like Melbourne. just because some dickhead referee screwd up we losea vital player(the first yellow was no contact therefore no yellow)

anyway end of rave about refs. I thought melbourne were outplayed in there last game even thought they won 3-0. Just shows whata good side they are. It will be a tough one. But the Phoenix are a tough side to beat as well.....will be an absorbing match.

That was a late and dangerous tackle - imo, the referees are well within their rights to discourage that sort of play, even if no contact is made. A more experienced ref may have just told Brown to calm it down rather than issuing a yellow, but that's a moot point. Once on a yellow, Brown should have known better.

Agree first challenge was reckless and having got the first yellow he was always going to be gone for the second foul and was just plain dumb if he thought different.

Agree that the first card was harsh, but the second yellow was clear as day.

On another note, IIRC Durante was great against Melbourne when we won 2-1.

It may not happen but.......

                  Moss

Durante     Siggy      Dodd      Muscat

 Kwasnik   McKain   Ferrante  Bertos

         Costa           Smeltz

Daniel  (cos he only goes 45 and I'd want that at the end, not at the start and have him walk for 10)
Plodder
Johnson (unless Covs wants another game and we want to have an extra striker)
Paston

Flick Lochhead for being average and play Manny on the left, but bring Dura back in. That means Dodd and Siggy keep their well earned spots.

Melbourne were average last week until the 10 minute spree where they killed the game. If we do the same and hold them up for most of the game, we can hopefully bring Daniel on with 30 to go and attack them instead.

I need a lie down

Herbert wont drop Lochhead for the most important game of the year.

Also Manny is great on the right, why change that. I think if Durrante is to come back to the starting X1 then Dodd will be the one to drop the bench.

I expect the below, or maybe Christie for Daniel.

                  Moss

Muscat   Siggy      Durrante  Lochhead

 Bertos    McKain     Ferrante  Daniel

         Costa           Smeltz

Christie
Ferrante
Dodd
Kwasnik
Paston

Wait how many can be on the bench... anyways something like this..

As long as Herbert makes a forceful and tactical substitution if we are a goal up with 10mins to play (ie screw defence and search for the killer blow with at least 3 up front.) He needs to grow some nuts and give us what we want!!!
