Disagree.

The main reason for us being in the league from there point of view is that we supposedly give them 4 million more people to sell to there sponsors.

However I would dear say that there are very few people in Christchurch who actually give a rats arse about the 'nix (I'm constantly asked why I support a Wellington team when I'm wearing 'nix gear). But I believe there is the market here for an A-league side which people would follow and that would double the amount of people who actually watch the games.

there's one guy on there who keeps arguing that it's up to FIFA whether we stay in the league or not.  That's wrong, it's still up to the FFA.  They might take comfort from FIFA's comments, but ultimately FIFA doen't make the decision

Personally I just don't think the market is there for 2 A-League teams, especially when you consider the number of kiwis good enough to play in the league.  There's not enough quality to have 2 teams with a good amount of kiwis, and that's going to be important for any NZ team.

Normo's coming home

I would guess some team from Chile would be...

Club de Deportes Puerto Montt is further south, but not by much

Could be others but the questions is answered so I can't be bothered looking

Just seeing I recently watched the most northern team I was was actually wondering if the only two games I had been too were the most northern and most southern but oh well i'm pretty close

perhaps when Tony and the marketing boys & girls decide we need to play a home game on Stewart Island we could claim the 'title'

Just for the heck of it... (not sure if I'm about to make a completely stupid suggestion, but I guess I'll soon find out).

How about a second team based in Dunedin? Worse climate than Wellington, but... it will soon have a great - covered - stadium and superb facilities to go with it.

What's local support like for football in the deep south? (I played for Roslyn Wakari when I was a kid.)

Even tho there is some good support for footbal down here I dont think thats ever going to happen. From a students point of view, say 15000 students go home in november thats alot of support lost. Dunedin is like a ghost town after the students leave

Forgot about the Dunedin student exodus in November till late Jan.

Shame the money - or forethought - hadn't been there to put a roof on the ROF, even if it meant a smaller venue. Imagine watching the Nix in an all-weather venue?

An upside: YF fans would be less at risk of hyperthermia when they got their shirts off.
A downside: they may not stop at shirts.

We've played in Q'town and Christchurch which are further south. The difference between Wellington and Puerto Nott is less than a degree.

Heck, with the regular season match we have to play in Chch the 'title' is ours
