Bertos, and after what we gave him last night I'm sure he's already told Riki where he wants to be in a years time.

Mulligan would be great too and the programme last night said Chris James is unattached....

Leo Bertos. Great game last night. But... is he available? How long has his contract got to run with Perth Glory?

Mulligan would be nice, but despite a recent short loan to Grimsby - third from the bottom of League Two - Sc**thorpe is mid-table in the Championship League.

So... the 'Nix probably couldn't afford him, but if things turn to custard for him in the English game, let's find a big spoon to scoop him up.

Yeah, top idea to get more All Whites in the squad. That way when they AW's play we might just have a starting XI. Having said that, after last nights performance, I'd ditch Christie in a second. Hasn't even been that good for the 'Nix.

Its no longer a problem.

I'm not convinced with Mulligan. Before he scored the first goal he was absolutely pitiful. Giving the ball away in bad positions every time.

Bertos
Lee Wilkie
Life-time contact for Felipe!

An ex-Dundee player will be good as they are used to last-minute hearbreaks.

Vicelich is off contract at the end of the year along with Bertos so those two have to be targets.

Mulligans attitude has let him down in the past when things haven't gone his way in England, would hate to see that happen to him at the nix and afffect his A.W. role.

I think Jarrod Smith will be a target, he looked quite good night, quick strong, generally athletic.

Otherwis an out an out striker with top level experience. Give us TEDDY SHERINGHAM.

AT  my suggestion to get Teddy?????

He is still fit as hell, great in the air and can pick out a pass second to none, and i hate West Ham.

He could still do a job.

If its about Jarrod, well he's our number three striker at the mo for the All whites, so Ricki must rate him a little.

Yes at your suggestion to get Teddy, hence the bold around his name.

He may still be fit, but how fit can a 63 year old possibly be...?

from what i gathered at the start of the season when players where still being signed was that bertos was interested but the glory asked him to stay for 1 more year and he accepted? so keen to see him play with smeltz week in week out.. those 2 were absolutely mint together, they played like they'd been together for years.

mulligan needs to sort his midfield play, but hell, hide him on the side till we get a freekick, that kid can strike a ball

Plus Teddy is slow as and not getting any faster, thought we needed some extra pace up front?!

Leo Bertos for sure, hopefully he felt empowered by the YF zone at the AWs game and realises he should return home to Welly next season.

We cant have Shearer if we are going to get Bellamy. (Opps, sorry Ricki, didnt mean to leak that)

Seriously though, last night, my thoughts of Bertos linking up with Felipe and Daniel brought a smile to the ol muggin.

Memories of the Hungarian team of the late 60's here in Wgtn. Once they got a few up, they would play one touch in and around the opposing area, then when they reached 20 they would give it to the keeper. (That was before nutmegs had been invented).

He never had a problem scoring against them when he was at Blackburn.

After this morning's game between England and Croatia, is there anyone you would "borrow" for the squad?

Bertos has to be included in next years squad, he'd team up beautifully with elrich and daniel in the Midfield.

hmm bro i don't think he'd be in the midfield after yesterday.. surely he must be smeltz permanent strike partner, with Cov's as backup and starting every few games. our midfields congested enough with decent players

The only trouble is that he is about as prolific in front of goal as Michael Ferrante.  Assists and what he can create are superb, but finishing ?

hmm really? ah well, he didnt look half that bad at shooting yesterday.. was unlucky at the first goal not to have his shot go in.. would still have him there, with the midfield we have already if felipe and elrich stay, pushing him up would probably be the best palce perhaps?

He's out with a broken leg right now. Think before that he was in first team plans at Ajax as he'd only just been signed, but considering how many youth players come in to the first team there someones probably been and replaced him while he's been out. Could actually be worth a look when he comes back from injury if thats the case, hes going on 35 now? Then again Cocu looked like he turned down an A-league chance.

Juan Sebastian Veron would be top of my wish-list for players. 32 now, and still the player he was as his game was never about pace, just his incredible footballing brain. Hes on the books of Estudiantes in Argentina but I think its non-contractual terms. D.C United were going in for him but he wanted to stay in Argentina for the mean time. Its not really going to happen (if it did it wouldn't be for another year or two!) but imagine the passing moves!

Kluivert signed a contract with Lille in France at the start of this season so he might be a few seasons away yet.

How about Ray Parlour? He got released by Hull end of last season and hasn't got a club yet. 34 but might have a season left in him. Could do the job on right side of midfield?

What's with this crazy dreaming about people like nightclub Kluivert and people who have just been released by Hull? I would far rather see young and vibrant signings from South America, Asia and Australasia.

Ricki has already proved (in signing Daniel and Felipe) that he has an eye for talent in obscure places, why waste time signing up old players who would view a move here as an opportunity to play less demanding football and a chance to make easy money. These old 'wishlist' signings would never be worth it, even Juninho has hardly set the league on fire. He has been decent, but not dramatically superior to the likes of Daniel or Felipe. And then of course there is Jardel....

I'd love to see Bertos and Sigmund sign, but the most important thing has to be finding a quality  right back. Brazil have a fine tradition of producing attacking fullbacks, and I'm sure there are some decent Ozzies out there as well.

Well he might have an eye for talent in those places, but I suspect the majority of  people on this board are unable to look for talent like that in those obscure places due to the lack of televised coverage and general news in these places. So we're left to speculate among those who we've seen in the prominent leagues, albeit perhaps a few years back, or players of which we've heard about merely from word of mouth.

Though certainly when I go to Japan in January and watch a few J-League matches I might look out for some players as the J-League contains some very good Brazilian and Japanese players that are still in their 20's. Has anyone heard of any J-league players migrating to the A-League??
