What's with this crazy dreaming about people like nightclub
Kluivert and people who have just been released by Hull? I would
far rather see young and vibrant signings from South America, Asia
and Australasia.
Ricki has already proved (in signing Daniel and Felipe) that he has
an eye for talent in obscure places, why waste time signing up old
players who would view a move here as an opportunity to play less
demanding football and a chance to make easy money. These old
'wishlist' signings would never be worth it, even Juninho has
hardly set the league on fire. He has been decent, but not
dramatically superior to the likes of Daniel or Felipe. And then of
course there is Jardel....
I'd love to see Bertos and Sigmund sign, but the most important
thing has to be finding a quality right back. Brazil have a
fine tradition of producing attacking fullbacks, and I'm sure there
are some decent Ozzies out there as well.
Well he might have an eye for talent in those places, but I suspect
the majority of people on this board are unable to look for
talent like that in those obscure places due to the lack of
televised coverage and general news in these places. So we're left
to speculate among those who we've seen in the prominent leagues,
albeit perhaps a few years back, or players of which we've heard
about merely from word of mouth.
Though certainly when I go to Japan in January and watch a few
J-League matches I might look out for some players as the J-League
contains some very good Brazilian and Japanese players that are
still in their 20's. Has anyone heard of any J-league players
migrating to the A-League??
