Honestly, the only team worse than us at this stage is North Queensland. Of course, that can change in the space of a couple of games.

Well after watching the highlights, we seem to just not be using our potential. We have quality players but where the heck are our creative players in the middle????? Wasn't that our biggest problem last year? ??? I wish costa had played because he would have had a similar effect as Bertos with his pace I think.

Come on Phoenix. We are better!!

A change will come, early days yet. Once combinations have settled the team will look a lot more like a..... team.

Not on that effort. Every other team, including the losers, played way better than we did. We MUST improve out of sight to get anywhere near 8th.

I take heart in our efforts last year after the 6-1 Adelaide spanking. Hoping for same sort of improvement and guts

Have to agree with allt he comments around the midfield. I don't mind if you play two DMs away from home if one keeps the shape and the other is basically negating the AM of the opposing side but here McKain was trying to run the show from just in front of the back 4 while Vignaroli (sp?) was able to run the show form whereever he so chose... if Brown was on the park to do a role it was surley to nullify Vignaroli because:

a) Brown cannot run any other lines other than box to box.

b) Brown does not like actuially touching the ball hence we always have to lob it over the midfield (ie kick and hope) from the back

c) When Brown does touch the ball he ALWAYS play it backwards or a 2 foot pass to the lcosest person to him.

The Nix and the AWs have exactly the same problems...

1) Leaking back 4

2) No link in the midfield

Both the Nix and the Aws can fix 1 but McKain and Elliot must feel like they are been opunsihed by playing with Brick-Boots Brown in the midfield... he is appalling..

Sorry to be so negative but I relaly hate supporting a team(s) with a player who I challenge anyone to justify his selection.. it makes it worse when he is one of the senor players too..

Other than that Bertos was magic. Very hard when you have to do it all yourself...

decent attacking midfielder
decent attacking midfielder

(and more organised defense)

Anyone else said Iifil is aweful? Glad Greenacre works hard for the team but Iifil seemed lazy and disinterested.

Agree with that - Siggy not as bad as Durante, but still poor. And how did Brown get 5? The only time you knew he was on the pitch was when he was fouling people.

Leo was all class though. Great work from him.

Thought Greenacre was about a 7. Other than that fair enough.

So. Looks like there are two types of supporters - glass half full/half empty.

Can't compare with the longevity of some of you re supporting the Nix but my football teams all require a certain amount of optimism (and possibly self-delusion) to support over the last 30+ years. Plus on top of that any Wgtn team supporter must surely have an above average dose of optimism otherwise we'd all be bitter and twisted and taking blood pressure pills.

There's always next week (as Mike Cashley said to the Nigerian Consortium last year).

Brown had a bad game. Doesn't mean he's the worst player. McKain had a average game, and the defence was very bad.

I think with the All Whites they should have Chris James in there as a linking player. With the Nix I want to see Bertos and Costa start, with Hearfield on the bench. Or start Ifill from the bench...

and play a 4-3-3...

When is Chen fit?

Play Chen and Greenacres togehter and Ifill sitting behind them in an AM/CM role

interesting...I think our best attack was with Smeltz-Hearfield( or Costa) and Leo running across the front. But I think Ifill might be better sitting just in behind...perhaps I should take this over to the game thread...

I feel we need quick fast players would have been good to have Chen and Barbi on the bench at least. Daniel is a midfielder. Was a poor and very disappointing team performance apart from Bertos. Paston didnt commit 100% to smothering first goal.The better team won. Their asian wreaked havoc down our left flank, maybe Chen could do that for us.
