Some good showings, but too many people missing

Vukovic 9 An outstanding performance. He deserved us to hold on for a lucky draw.
Troy 6 Made some good stops
North 6.5 Obviously not a leader, but did a reasonable job
Musa 4.5 All at sea for a while, silly silly penalty, also backed off when closing down was the option for the square ball leading to second goal. Improved when too late
Lochie 6.5 Defended well, apart from the nutmeg.
Timmy 5.5 Misplaced passes
Wardy 8 Excellent game
Marco 6 Tried hard
Daniel 5.5 Useful at times
Greenie 6 Looked hungry, but never really got the chance
DMac 6 Good first half
Lovemore 6 good pace, and a couple of reasonable crosses
Toto 5.5 His best game for us
Clapham why on Earth didn't he get on??

Whaddaya reckon??

Toto 2. Did nothing but a very poor cross.
Musa 3. Gave away penalty. Never marking his man. Poor game.
North 4. Assumed everyone was offside when they weren't and just left them.

Was North giving Musa any direction?

It looked to me like the man with 34 caps for Australia was doing nothing to help the player starting his first game at Centre Back.  If that had been Dura ot Siggy neither of them would have stopped screaming at him and telling him what they wanted.

The travelling Fever deserve a mention for the last 10 minutes of "Ricki Herbert's YELLOW ARMY". Outstanding effort, even if Sloth was sitting down. So an 8 for everyone else, but a 6 for Sloth.

No idea how you can give the senior international who seemed to spend most of the game standing like a statue with his arm in the air, and gave no guidance to his 18 year old partner a 6.5, especially when our biggest problem in the game was central defending.

That is saying the entire problem in our defense was Musa, and although he wasn't great, that is far far far from the case.

Musa 4.5
North 3
Other than that its pretty fair.

defensive deficiencies in that game solely rest with North's inability to guide the line, if that had been Drua then Mus and co would have been given some direction. North is not a leader and should never have been given the responsibility.

Vukovich...outstanding...we seem to keep letting good goalkeepers leave for other clubs
North....Piss poor
Musa....not very good at all, but no support from senior players
Brown...where does he keep disappearing too?...clearly missed Manny/Vinny as support
mcallister and Greenie not a great combination up front
Toto...go back to Kansas
Lovemore...showed a keeness to attack

North needed to sort his own $hit out rather than worry about Musa. He had a terrible game. Musa was OK other than the penalty, I guess quite a few of his passes were misplaced as well. However the problems were actually in midfield where we didn't win anything all night. Brown was playing the whole game like he was already on a yellow, he should have been pulled early in the second half. Overall almost all the players were too weak on the ball.

I have never commented on player ratings before, but i feel i have to on this one.

Toto was (is) a joke. He did NOTHING when he came on on any benefit to the team, for both the Nix sake and the All Whites, giving Clapham 20mins would have been far more beneficial.

The quicker Toto disappears the better...

I thought the Argentinian Dwarf was no better or worse than most of the others.

Was very disappointed in North.

Musa looks like he definitley has potential but still needs work before he can compete at this level. He'll get there.

I wonder if Lochhead had to go to Hospital after the game cos he got ripped a new one in the 2nd half.

Thought Hearfield played a decent game all things considered. Got across to cover North a number of times. Same for Lochhead. Both got forward a few times as well. Interesting reversal from the past - wing backs more solid than centre backs...

North 6.5 Obviously not a leader, but did a reasonable job

North did a reasonable job? Surely taking the piss.

Without going into an analysis of his overall performance, his two laughable attempts to clear the ball while actually managing to miss the ball completely (first in the first half which set up a 1 on 1 which Vuko saved, second for the goal) should be enough to have his name permanently stricken from the FIFA register of international players. Hell, even professional players. Because, you know, if you can't make a connection with that round thing when it's right in front of you, then professional football ain't for you.

A farken plank of wood could've done a better job than North last night.

Think carefully about this before you make a knee-jerk judgement.

Well, a plank of wood has more pace than you, but you're more difficult to go around...tough call.

LOL you two

agree with the majority here
there is no way north can have a higher rating than musa. Expectations suggested that north would take the lead and direct musa around - just as you would expect from a high profile, experienced, 34 cap international signing. His defending was a joke. Christ even when he held his arms up claiming that push in the back he could've at least dived

I thought disco and lochy were outstanding. The nutmeg was unfortunate and even then it only just squeaked through - i think if it was 0-0 cole wouldn't have tried that anyway

Ward looked really good making passes from a bit deeper but unfortunately his defensive game wasn't up to what was asked of him in that role last night.

For the guy who commented about brownie playing 'like he was already on a yellow' well DUHHHH what did you think would happen? He is one yellow away from a 2 match suspension, that's the last thing we need right now

That was me. Why the duhhhhhh? He should have been pulled off as he was ineffective. The last thing we need is a midfield of Rojas, Daniel, Ward and Tim Brown when he isn't going to tackle.

And replaced with who, exactly? As we had no defensive players on the bench.

Presumably Clapham. I haven't seen him play but even if he isn't a defensive mid having someone with some enthusiasm in the middle who isn't paranoid about mistiming a tackle would have been much better. If Brown is going to play "careful" again (which you assume he will) he should not be in the team to play NQ.

I'm glad someone else saw what i was watching. Hard for the young lad to improve when his 'senior' is too busy prentending to be the lord of the dance appealing for free kicks.goldienz2011-02-10 14:48:14

With the way he was strolling around halfway.. i dont think he was in a defensive role anyway.

Clapham easily could have filled his role, especially the way he was Smeltzing it up by halfway (god knows how Toto got subbed on before him)
