Well that games brings back all that sucks about football, still I'll try and have an objective look at....

Vuka 7 Sound again, couldn't he have pulled off a miracle to keep out Djite's  2nd? please?
Siggy 8 Tackled like a demon, tried to make things happen, deserved better
Dura 6 Did his job well
North 5.5 Gave Djite too much room for the opener
Troy 6 Did well I thought, not his fault Ward decided to not cover properly for the second
Ward 5 Too many passes to opposition
Brown 4.5 Was he playing? well yes, but...
Manny 5.5 Patr of a midfield that just didn't fire
Ifill 6 scored, laid on what should have been a great assist, but faded out into what looked like 'I can't be bothered' in second half
Leo 5.5 Nudged Rees's arm into the hand ball position, Was useful, though still frustrating how he won't try to get behind the defenders
Greenie 8 Immennse up front, should have been awarded a lovely goal.
Now the subs....
Daniel 4.5 sent on to nmake something happen, but couldn't
Pavlov 3.5 ran around like a rabid dog (pun intended), stopping to squeal to the referee, useless
Toto 2.5 How the hell Rickli even thought of employing him I don't know. Bring back Mully

What do you reckon people,. or are you too depressed to look at this website? I just hope the few Kiwis in the team can pull their fingers out for the AWs games.

f**king aweful in almost all areas of the park........agree with most of them, but I'd drop Vuka 1 for not stopping the second, it should never have got to a shot but it wasn't that tough. Siggy did well but an 8?, noone deserves an 8 for that performance.
Everyone else was very very poor.

Ricki - 5, why does he isist on playing a short striker up front? Surely aftyer trying it for 3 seasons he would have learned that players we need to have two up front, not on poacher and two attacking mids who drift out to the wings.....

Put Vuko down to a 3, he could have saved the 2nd goal if he put his foot out - instead he tried to pick it up - Lazy

Didn't even attempt to throw himself at the third (it wasn't even all that far and a very slow ball)

Vuka 5 It would have been a goodish save on Djite's second goal, but.. meh.  The third goal, maybe the camera angle was deceptive, but surely an effort wouldn't have gone astray.
Siggy 7 Defended well, certainly not a fullback to go forward though
Dura 5 Caught out a couple of times, on the third goal seemed to be aimlessly floating behind the initial defensive line and ball watching the oncoming header.
North 5 Caught out a couple of times.  Seemed a bit lax in the second goal.
Troy 6 Generally covered Minecon.
Ward 5 Inaccurate
Brown 3 Nothing offered.  Certainly nothing ventured.  The problem with our midfield is there's no x-factor there.
Manny 5 Nothing offered.
Ifill 7 I feel for this bloke at the moment.  Home teams have worked us out in that Ifill is our biggest creator.  He gets double teamed and the other blokes don't work hard enough off the ball to give him enough of a chance.
Leo 6 A shade behind Ifill in that at least a couple of times he looked to create something.
Greenie 7 Got involved to link up a few good possessions, but nothing really offered up front (though he was robbed a goal)

Hard to judge the subs.  None of them made an impact.

Very unimpressive.  Tactically woeful.  Clinical execution non existent.  Long ball dribble, and not enough hard work in central midfield to create opportunities.  This team has to learn that there has to be more than Ifill to create.  The best teams have multiple threats, we basically have one.

Ifill's performance was everything that could have been expected - actually, a little more.  He worked pretty hard in the first half, contributing to defence more than he usually does, but ran out of gas.  Should have been subbed off at that point (or, alternatively, started on the bench and used as an impact player).

Partly agree on Ricki's 4-3-3 being a liability away, but running 2 men up front with Ifill on one wing will be too fragile.  Better to start 4-5-1 with Mac or Pav at the point - Daniel can start wing if he defends, otherwise Troy and Manny hold up the left flank.  (In case it's not clear, Brown-Ward-Lia is the midfield triangle.)

I thought Greenacre played reasonably well but apart from that....

Definitely couldn't rate the center back pair so highly. Other than that, pretty much agree. Hearfield down to 4 or 5 as well- nothing going forward (Siggy offers more attacking than him at the moment) and was part of the comedy duo that let the ball out of the corner for the 2nd goal. And Vukovich 5 aswell.aitkenmike2010-10-02 17:22:36

Hearfield made one very bad error round the 90th min that should've seen a goal to GCU, but overall I thought he made a decent fist of that left back role. Not sure why he has attracted so much abuse on the match thread while Jade North's lackadaisical defending is barely mentioned.

Vukovic - shows poor technique to me. I dont like the way he goes at the ball with his hands, and the second goal was a perfect example. Paston is our goalie.

Brown - absent
Bertos - absent
Ifill - absent second half
Ward - poor game , Ive been impressed with his earlier efforts.
Greenie - spent all night chasing the ball like a greyhound chases a hare, poor sod.
Daniel, Toto,  Pavlov - did nothing to enhance their claims.

Doesnt leave much does it.  Durante,North and Muscat tried hard and were generally okay, but the first goal was not the best bit of defending.

Hearfield. I thought he did okay generally, compared to the rest.
Sigmund. Has to be our man of the match by default.

Yeh- this. I thought North was at fault for a couple of the goals...and didn't contribute much in between. Not a great replacement for McKain. Not better than Siggie. And cost us our unbeaten against GCU.

Certainly agree that Hearfield was less poor in this game than our centre back pairing.

I'm just glad we got our worst performance of the season out of the way!
 We're going to the Finals!

tend to agree
only issue is we may not have the money and spots free to buy a caceres, a daddy and a reddy to finish the year strong with this time

Certainly don't need to buy a reddy with Vuka, hmmm Dadi v Big Mac hmmmm, Caceras v Ward Ward is in front, so we should be sweet, McKain is what we haven't got though unless North really pulls finger.

Hmmm...though we are missing Kosta, no real replacement there, and let's be honest- Big Mac hasn't been as successfull as Dadi yet, and Ifill and Bertos aren't quite up to their standards from last year yet....

What on earth are we missing about Kosta? He barely played for us, that's why he left.
