What's the penalty for a keeper who handles outside the box?

Red card and straight off, isn't it?

Only if it prevents a clear goalscoring chance, same as that Uruguyan fellow against Ghana in the WC. Otherwise, penalty would be the same as for any other handball, i.e. a free kick.

I think Pasty was JUST within the rules, as his arms didn't actually move, he just turned his body into the ball. It was a calculated risk.

Would Pasty have done better if he had lifted his arm and it hit his torso? I thought he was going to head or chest it but he spun at the last minute because of all the advancing traffic.

Agree that 3-4-3 isn't working for us, we end up playing 5-4-1 in general play which leaves Greeny all alone up front (guess he's used to that) and 5-2-3 when attacking which leaves holes in the midfield. Leo ends up hanging back as he often did for the All Whites in that formation, and isn't really effective at all. Our 4-5-1 from last season did a lot better.

That second goal I feel a little sorry for Sigmund. He would have expected Hearfield to prevent the Thompson turning the way he did. Instead Hearfield simply walked past Thompson. I bet Thompson couldnt believe his luck when Hearfield strolled past him with out even making a tackle.

Problem is last season we had goals coming from midfield. Ifill and brown havent been anywhere near last seasons form.

Pastons "shoulder ball" was clearly a handball in my eyes

I like Tim Brown and have defended him on a few occasions to friends and family who don't rate him, but he has been NON-EXISTENT this season, I'm battling to recall him having any decent games and largely due to the fact the he seemingly NEVER touches the ball.

He has really gone of the boil this season, our midfield is piss poor, and is the main reason we struggle... Although he's not alone here, Ifill seems to have taken to believing his own Press and decided not to turn up for the 10-11 season.

I don't buy the theory that those who defend Ifill state time after time, namely that teams now double mark him. What, so didn;t anyone do that last year? Did they wait through a whole season of his brilliance with one man on him before in the off-season deciding to go with two?

He looks like he's enjoyed his off-season a little too much in my opinion...

I disagree.. I thought Hearfield played well and we looked good in attack when he got the ball..

This. And im no big fan of Hearfield. But i think he's better suited to that position, and just needs a couple more games.
.

Hearfield was at fault for their second goal - horrid positioning.  He failed in a defensive header in which it went almost straight up (slightly behind him as well), keeping pressure on us.  That's just off the top of my head.  He was just poor and isn't good enough.

Hearfield's improving though, his performance was so much better than it was at the start of the season.

Hearfield was sh*t yesterday but I know he is better than he showed.

Last season I thought he was very good but he has yet to replicate last season's form. That is not a small club; Ifill, Brown, Leo and Lia are also yet to get anywhere near last season's form.

I think they all seem to be lacking confidence for some reason - changing formations every week isn't going to help.

Lock in 4-4-2 for a few weeks and give it a chance.

On a positive Greeny (who I thought was good last season) has gone up a gear as has Manny.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

you have to be kidding right.. that goal was Sigmund's fault, utterly pathetic defending from him as usual..

Maybe I am being charitable but it just looked like a nice turn and momentum stuffed Siggy and Hearfield

And for gods sake, dont stop using the 3-4-3 just cause we were 1 down at halftime.

we dont have a good enought team to play 3-4-3 and it shows

I think Hearfield has to takesome responsibility though. I guess I just cant understand how at this level a player can turn so easily in the goal box when he has two defenders right on him. There should be no way a player can turn there. Both sigmund and hearfield should have held him up so Thompson had to play it back. Instead hearfield tryed to get round thompson to make a tackle, allowing Thompson to turn the way he did. Dont get me wrong not excusing Sigmunds effort, but hearfield didnt actually help at all.

Hearfield should have stayed back like you said, forcing Thompson to lay a ball off.  By going in he opened the space for Thompson.  Siggy wasn't at fault there, it was Hearfield 100%.

Siggy was at fault...once again.. he is a liability at the back.. he is slow and has the worst first touch in the league, he is probably becoming worse than Lochhead..

Hearfield wasn't on him, you don't defend from non-goal-side. He was just stopping him from turning back out, so Thompson thought, "oh ok, I'll just heel it through and chase it then"

You'll have to excluse Mayze, his self-abuse over anything Hearfield has impacted his eyesight.

The way I saw it they were both at fault, but it was a fine turn all the same.

I like how the Aussie media called Bertos' goal "wind-assisted", while on this side of the Tasman we called it a stunner!

He put some great curl on the shot and the goalie misjudged it.  It worked =)
