Phew what a battle. Well done Jets, could have easily stolen it. Well done Mr Breeze, you got it about right.

Reddy 8 Another outstanding display
Troy 5.5 Caught out several times giving his man too much room. Got forward well, but didn't take it to the bye line, which he usually does causing mayhem
Dura 9 Fabulous defence
Siggy 7 Had to do some last ditch defending, did well
Lochie 6.5 Caused them troubles down the wing
Manny 7.5 Almost scored a deserved goal, tightened up right back when he switched, mopped up the midfield
Lia 7 Worked his ass off, some wayward passes
Timmo 7.5 Another goal, drives forward well
Leo 6.5 Great running at them, but final pass was often a little late
Ifill 8 Prob should have had a hat trick, another classy display, but also caught in possession a number of times. Won us the game.
Greenie 6.5 Works hard, but never seems to be there to score
Daniel 8.5 Excellent switches of play, intelligent holding up or attacking
Dadi 6 Scored, worked hard to retain ball
Diego 6.5 Not on long but also made a difference

Over all as a team 9.5
What do you think?

I thought we look shaky at the back, and Siggy was a big part of that.  I wouldn't give him higher than a 6

Yeah one thing i learnt from today is that we need McKain in asap.
Also we need to be more comfortable passing along the ground when we get forward. Too many aerial balls when a through ball to greenie would be fine

On a serious note - I was so so impressed by Brown tonight. I mean come on. He ran his ass off tonight. For 120 mins he never stopped and he only arrived yesterday morn after playing Thurs arv, He ran so much more than Ifill who should have been so fresh in comparison. And Lia was the one who came off with cramp. Plus a goal. As a midfielder, how much more could we want?

I can't believe Greenacre.  Like his work but I swear 3 or 4 times he had good position in the box, you could see the player on the ball looking for him and then Greeny actually ran away from the pass/cross that came just as he left.  6.5 fair enough.

Daniel looked good, but every one else was out on their feet.  8.5 a bit high for me.

But everone worked their buts off.  Great effort Nix.  I wouldn't give anybody less than a 6.5, and that would be for Greeny, Sig, Lia.  didn't think Troy was that bad.

Fantastic result and everybody did their bit.
Freshen up for Sydney and then hopefully have one of those games where it all falls into place.

Strangely enough, despite a goal and an assist, I thought that was Ifill's worst performance in a Phoenix shirt!

Tried to do too much soooo many times, and that chance in the last minute just summed up his entire day.

Alas, a great goal in extra time to redeem himself, so can't complain (despite just doing so)!

I did think ALL the All Whites guys looked pretty knackered, with Sigmund in particular getting the runaround a lot. Bertos's final ball was abysmal 9 times out of 10 also, Daniel was a huge improvement when he came on.

Reddy 8 - couldn't do much about the goal, but made key saves against Elrich (especially) and Petrovski

Troy 6.5 - not the best game against his former club. Perhaps finding the step up to finals football a little tough, given the unfamiliar position of RB

Dura 9 - what can I say - brilliant! Made many an interceptions and key tackle, rallied the troops so well

Siggy 6.5 - did alright but the pace of Newcastle's breaks left him a little off the pace. Scrambled well in true Siggy fashion though.

Lochie 7 - Tired first half, but for the rest of the game was actually pretty good given he played a lot in LA. Ran himself ragged.

Muscat 7.5 - Solid game at CM, then RB, just hope he keeps composure next week

Lia 7.5 - Ran himself into the ground, coming down with cramp late in the game. Only blight was some average passing in the front third.

Brown 8 - He's a true warrior. Well-executed volleys home sweetly to find our equaliser.

Leo 7 - Started off really well, and was one of the games where he made some impact. He's been average of late it has to be said.

Ifill 8.5 - I was disappointed he missed in the 94th minute, and so would have he. When he scored you could see the relief as well as the joy of putting the Phoenix up. Always looked dangerous, and as they say, the big name players come up big in the big situations.

Greenie 7 - Still the unsung hero. Not scoring goals, and you could say he doesn't put himself in the right position at the right time (ironic given his career numbers in England), but he is a vital cog in the Phoenix attack.

Daniel 8 - looked good when he came on, was itching to play after not having played for a while. Had plenty of purpose as he strode through the midfield on the counter.

Dadi 7 - he's that kind of guy, always looking casual in his demeanour and way of play. Made a couple of timely clearances, scored a goal, and held up play well.

Diego 7 - not a lot of time to make a difference, but did what he had to do to set up Dadi's clincher.

Thought that everyone was great except our full backs and Siggy who struggled in 1on1 situations. Lia struggled a bit at times as well.

Brown, Dura and Ifill were the standouts for me. How Brown kept running until the final minute I have no idea.

Daniel made a HUGE impact as well.

I don't think anyone had a POOR game today - I liked Ritchie's subs - Leo wasn't sparking much and Vince while covering ground was his usual dodgy passing-self.

Stand out players for me in no particular prioirty were Manny, Dura and Reddy.

Myself I thought Siggy was good - not shaky or especially off the pace at all. Too often our wide backs, Hearfield in particular, got caught out of position leaving our two CBs struggling, so the tackles were a bit last ditch. But even though Rooney and later Pavlovic were nearly sent clear several times Siggy stuck to them like glue and hassled them off the ball or wide.

I was watching the game on a pretty shakey web feed, so maybe I was a bit harsh on Siggie, but we were very exposed in the middle of our defence and everyone is talking about what an amazing game Durrante had.  Simple fact is that we had about 60% of the possession, but they created numerous clear cut chances that were either saved by Reddy or blown by their attackers.

It was possibly that they were not getting the protection from the defensive midfielders but the gaping wholes in the middle of our defence would have been punished by a better team.

not sure how many time I've said this.....^

only rarely does he not appear to give everything out there....plus he often score the crucil goal - either winning us the game or bring us back into it. Had we gone to halftime 1 - 0 down, it would have been a different second 45.

Thats what happens when near the end of the game you take of Hearfield (defender) for Dadi (lazy slow runner). One time when play broke down, we were clearly playing a 4-6 formation. So when p[lay breas down going foward we really lacked the balance. Number 29 looked so dangerous when he got the ball breaking out we were really lucky.
Oh Wellington is wonderful. We got the wind, the rain and the phoenix. Oh Wellington is wonderful.

Except he's (29) a big lumbering donkey who couldn't finish a cheese sandwich.

Made Rooney look good.

Dura and Brown stood out for me.  Manny's best game I've seen him play for a while.  Thought Lia was very average, his passing game was definately off. Our defence is gonna have to step up against Sydney or broske will carve us up

I was thinking it wasn't the players who went to LA who were a little bit worse for wear. Maybe A-league players just seem that much easier to catch after chasing Mexicans for a game!

Daniel was sensational. Almost every pass he made was pinpoint and opened the Jets up. Time after time he picked out Ifill from distance and set him up one on one with the left back, Kantarovski.

Had to laugh when Jason Pine in his pre-game interview with Durante asked him "all joking aside"(!) if there was a chance of him switching allegiance to play for NZ. Quite cheeky considering he had just won his first ever call up to a Socceroo squad but, good on Piney for keeping the idea fresh in his head.

Surprisingly Durante didn't rubbish the idea out of hand. I think this is a guy who is desperate to play at international level....
