Jeez, we dominate the game, get caught on the break, hit the bar and go home empty handed.

Vuko 7 Had little to do but was in good form
North 7 Had a good game
Siggy 7 Defended fairly well, tried to make a difference going forward
Dura 6.5 Unlucky with header, dived in a couple of times and got caught
Lochie 6 Defended well
Wardy 8 Looked most likely, good header saved
Timmy 6 Battled away
Manny 7.5 Won lots of ball, used it well
Marco 6 Not really conditions to suit him
DMac 6 Was well marshaled
Troy 6.5 A good idea to have him looking out for Cassio, won ball, a shame he lost it for their goal
Ifill 5 Blunt
Greenie 5.5 Should have been on earlier
Daniel Managed to touch the ball in his two minutes

Ref did a good job

What do you reckon?

Vuko 6.5 (slow off the line for goal, also gave away a corner earlier in the game)
Siggy 7.5 Excellent

Otherwise roughly agree

Harsh on Lochhead, defended well, got up and down the line well, and whipped in a cross or two.

I'd make Ifill a 4 at the most. Looked very low on match fit and stood still doing nothing. Great guy, superb player, but didn't need to be out there tonight.

Not sure that Ifill was a good option he loked really rusty and probably a 3 or 4 at best. manny was skirting with danger with some of his tackling at times 6  Tim brown i'd mark down as he started to go mising again. Dmac probably 6.5

hmmm not sure about browny. He had a few shots but this is a BIG issue for me.

When he is forced to play more defensively, he doesnt perform nearly as well.
In a 442 he really doesnt get to attack like he does and with Ward central, he also doesnt have as much freedom.

Don't think Ward had as great a game as you say. Gave the ball away cheaply at times. 7.

^agree with that.

Lochy's crosses were pretty terrible last night, but he was really fast at catching up with the reds going forward. Good job, I suppose.

I thought North had a strong game at right back. I couldn't think of anyone who didn't step up apart from Party Boy. Maybe right back is his best position. Ifill looked out of sorts which you could put down to his lack of match fitness but maybe people seem to have forgotten that he wasn't that flash before he got the injury even though he was still scoring.

I'd give Ricki a 2 for a perplexingly bad team selection and substitutions.

Ifill for D Mac was inexplicable. Not starting with Greenacre & D Mac up front - even more questions over his judgement.

Daniel for Rojas !?!

I'd agree except we played some of the best football of our season in that 70 mins

swapping ifill for dmac was daft, should have let him play out wide for hearfield

Queenslander 3x a year.

Exactly that. And He should have came on later.

We won our last games with two up front, so having disco up there was just silly.

Also wonder if Lia still hadnt recovered or just wasnt used?

Admittedly I missed the first half hour so maybe missed something, but in the remaining hour Ward was utterly useless.  Just so poor.  And Ifill has gained yet more weight, sure he had an injury but was overweight at the start of the year when he wasn't injured.

When Ward losses the ball he actually tracks back and fights for it again. Unlike some players who just stand there with their arms in the air.

How many times did Ward turn in to a player last night? Was pretty frustrating. I think it mostly happened when we were 0-1 down chasing the game so maybe he didn't deal with the added pressure of being behind a goal.

Fuck this stupid game

Your right he did, but I watched the game again today and two of them went straight to the defenders. In saying that he did have one of his better games.

Ricki may well have preferred that, but Macallister's absolute rubbishness in the first 60 minutes of the game meant he had to change something at the front end, and unfortunately his call didn't work out.

Sigmund was great last night. 8. MOM.

I'm a massive fan of ward but he lost the ball A LOT last night.

I'm not a massive fan of Lochhead, but thought he did quite well last night.

Also a bit surprised about angst over Ward - at times I felt sorry for him. One incident particularly sticks in mind: we're losing, there's about 2-3 minutes to go, Ward chases loose cleared ball from Adelaide's box, and gets to it on the right hand side not far from Adelaide box, but with his back to goal and gets closed in by 4 Adelaide players. You can almost sense the desperation in his movements as he looks for support, but there is none, and Ward loses the ball.

Meanwhile, Jade North is standing and watching this from 20 metres away, presumably scratching his balls or something. All he had to do was move forward ten metres and receive a pass from Ward in a good position to get a first-time cross into the box where there's already quite a few of our players. Could have been done, with a minimum of effort, by the worst Cap 16 player, let alone an "international", but no, North chooses to stand there like some dumb f**king statue.

If I was the gaffer and my RB did something like that, he'd be riding the pine until he had splinters on his arse.el grapadura2011-02-19 19:06:53

You are quite right about that. There are some players that when things are not going their way they start hiding. If is the same thing I remember, Ward is surrounded by 3 players, loses the ball and van D . ends up with TL having to come across the park to stop him scoring. It went for a corner.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
