Bugger, oh well, prob a fair result as Siggy said post match. We missed the impact of people coming off the bench to make  difference.

Mossy 7 What a mammoth save that one on one one was, keeping us in it at 1 - 1 for the time
Boxall 7 Making a real impact, he's gona score one day very soon
Siggy 6 Only a great run by the striker kept Siggy at bay, having to go behind Dura to track the run
Dura 6 Did well for the most part, not that great in the attacking third!
Manny 6.5 Was targeted for a while but came through it with flying colours, looked very dangerous on runs forward, set up a good scorin chance late in the game.
Riera 8 This guy is so consistently good these days
Lia 6.5 Another good game from Vinnie, so unlucky to only hit the post.
Tyler 6 Did well with his runs again, I presume he was dragged because of a problem with the conditions
Hicks 6 Some very good work and some poor passing
Brockie 6 Great pass to Tyler before the goal, a couple of good shots too
Stein 7 Nice goal, always closely marked but did the job
Leo 5 Got closed down too easily
Krishna 4.5 Disappointing lack of impact
Caira 4 Ditto

Your opinion?

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

I would give Leo a 3. Caira a 5.5. Siggy Dura and Brockie by .5 up

Grumpy old bastard alert

starting lineup did brilliantly in the first half to close brisbane down and stop them playing the way they wanted - eased up a bit in the final 10. Not so sure abut Mossy's 7 whilst he made a couple of billiant saves I thought the moments before their goals he should have done better.

Big question mark shave to be hanging over Leo's future - added no impact at the front, he's not an RB, not fast enough to be a winger and he clearly isn't a front man.

Krishna and Caira really idn't get enough time to do much.

Also, I thought the nix we reputedly the fitest team around - and yet our manager was worried about us tiring in the heat?

Yep agree with most of your ratings - humidity wore them down in second half as Brisbane picked up their intensity - and yes no impact at all off bench, but didn't see enough of Krishna to make any real judgements. Leo's useful to have on bench given positions he can cover, but doesn't seem to be able to make impact any more.

I would give one more mark to Stein (8) for his consistent performance as a stand-in for Carlos. In this game I rated him as much as Riera, and that is without taking the tap-in into consideration. If you want to balance things up you may want to take a half a point off Tyler Boyd and half a point from Hicks. They were both OK, but struggled, while Stein seemed to take the conditions in his stride. He was never ruffled with the close attention of Roar players, and always managed to get where he needed to. Clearly deserves more than 7, especially that he scored (but not the main reason).

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Riera outstanding again.

Giving Caira a lower score than Leo and Krishna? Disagree there.

god you love the caira bashing , kid never had a stray pass only miscontrolled the one touch in the box when he 1st came on . Did more in 10 mins than leo did in 45 . Usually you don't give a rating for a 10 min cameo . wonder if he was a kiwi he would cop this

To be honest I thought both Brockie and Boyd at times were wasteful with possession and lacked focus early in the first half.

edit: If we compare them to recent performances and to Stein

I cant see why Bertos was bought on, most things he did were poor, no impact going forward and I cant understand why Boyd was removed! any ideas?

Riera and Moss were the standout players for me.

Would still like to see Krishna start as I believe he has the talent. Admit I have only seen him play one game and that was in the W. Club competition, but he showed that he is no bunny. He was muscled off the ball too easily.

this is the big question
I like tautologies because I like them.

Ernie had a poor hand to play, and he was trying to make his 10 an ace...Also he seems to put people on not when it is safe, but in difficult situations and say that he has confidence in them to do the job- most notably this has worked really well with Ridenton- but with Krishna and Bertos, unfortunately not so much.

In the A-League that was going to be inevitable.

Not sure how you would rate Ernie, had the tactics spot on in that first half but that Boyd/Leo sub derailed us in the second half.

I was kind of willing them not to pass it to Leo, which is sad because he is a fan favourite and has done allot for football in NZ.

I think Hicks deserves more credit than what he is getting.

He made some lovely passes and covered defensively well. He also intercepted alot of balls in the last game which suggests to me he is beginning to read the pace a little better.

He didn't give away the ball as much as it seems some people are suggesting.

But if you are looking for a corner taker who can land it with pin poit accuracy on the first defender's head, he's unbeatable.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Agree with comments re Hicks both he and Riera have been fantastic in most games, has there been any word on any possible other players coming in and some maybe being released?

Look at Ernie's post game interview, he explains all of the reasons for the subs and evaluates certain players strengths/weaknesses during the game.

having watched the game a couple of times i would agree. For me this is the best Hicks has played, his passing was more concise that any i have seen previously

I think he played well but was under a lot of pressure because our midfield was stretched. Shows that Kenny and Carlos are actually more useful than I granted them especially earlier in the season. Happy to eat my own words.

Leo looked a total spent force when he came on....seemed to have great difficulty getting into the pace of the game and there was certainly no evidence of the "great pace" that he is supposed to have or in fact anything else....maybe its just his time

I think we certainly miss Kenny when he is not there. He does a lot of running and even though he isn't the best tackler he hassles anyone who has the ball on his wing.
