First and foremost
The Wind 9 Got the swirls just right, dominated the game much better than usual, sucked in the best players and made everyone adapt to her style
The ref 8 Made sure he wasn't influenced by the crowd, the game or any home country bias

Pasty 8 A couple of crucial saves that kept a clean sheet
Manny 7.5 A bulldog of a game, well at least a bull terrier
Siggy 6 Solid, though a couple of give aways that could have cost
Dura 7 Led well, though again gave ball away
Lochie 6.5 defended well, got fwd well
Caceras 4 Apart from a couple of touches, looked disinterested. disappointing
Vinny 8 Had a great game, especially dropping back at exactly the right time to snuff out attacks
Brown 6 Battled away
Ifill 6.5 Looked likely to open them up, such a shame he wasn't up to best
Leo 5.5 Was closed down pretty well, anonymous in second half
Greenie 5.5 Does collect the ball, flicks it through well, but the midfield aren't connecting with him enough
Costa 4 one useful run
Marco 4 one useful run
Troy ?
Ricky hmmm, the balance of the bench looked poor to me, why have both of the youngest, smallest players in the world there together. One or the other I reckon. We needed something different as an option.

What do you think? Bloody hard to rate people when you're at the ground and any interesting incidents are blocked from replay. ahhh!

Pretty much on the money Oi Oi

I wouldn't have given Lia as high a rating when possession was 64-36 against us, and Ifill for me is still the best player we have on the park and contributed as much or more than any one else.

Lia 7
Ifill 7.5 (hey it's out of ten and this guy is worth 7+ every week unless he gets the sulks)

Otherwise half a point here and there but pretty much with you on the players.

Including the wind, the winning team on the night.

Ok, you may be less biased and more objective than me, but I thought the ref was a lottery.  Absent TV close up/replay to prove me wrong.

felt you could have given Ifill a better score, he was clerarly the best option we had out there, we really have to stop trying to get the ball to Greenie via the air, we have no height in the front and this really hurts our chances.

Exactly. We need to play the ball across the ground and through the centre of the pitch more. We won't score with just Greenacre and possibly Ifill in the box from a lofted cross with 4 defenders surrounding them!

caceras is just a better looking ferrante

Ferrante wouldn't get subbed after the first half, he'd have worked harder than that

ferrante and caceres are equally sh*te, i would rather have kwasnik and ahmed elrich than either of those two, now thats saying something

A few times I saw Caceres getting a real working over by the Mariners off the ball. I was watching him off the ball cause I was wondering what sort of reception he'd get from his old team mates - they obviously didn't like him... (which may be a worry in itself?)

Anyway, it was always going to be a tricky game for Caceres so I think we should cut him some slack. I agree with his rating but don't think we saw the best of him by any stretch.

As for saying you'd rather have Kwassie - that's hilarious. When they brought on Kwassie, CCM effectively went down to 10 men!

Kwasnik did nothing. When they took Richie Cunningham off for him I breathed a sigh of relief.

I thought that Lia and Brown were both horrible for different reasons. Lia gave away a ridiculous amount of free kicks in and around our box (was lucky not to be sent for repeated fouling) and Brown was pretty anonymous all game. We got dominated in midfield. valeo2009-09-28 21:41:07

I thought Lia was good. He does give away a few free kicks here and there but he battles hard and he's superb at opening up and switching play. I think he's made a big difference for the nix since he's been playing.

Haha and with that ref he wsas lucky not to get sent off. But that says more about the ref then how he played.

I'd also go higher for Ifill. Not as prominent as previous games (probably because of injury), but looked dangerous as usual. Their keeper had to make a good save to stop a scorcher of a shot that he created out of nowhere.

I'd give Costa a 5. Made a couple of good touches. First touch was a nice ball putting Leo into space and something nearly happened from that. And a beauty of a long diagonal across the pitch pass. Looked like he was nearly going to do something on a couple of runs with his pace, but lost the ball - so that downed him a bit for me. But not below 5 because of his decent contributions in his shortish time

Not sure what you mean by 'something different' as an option seeing as Costa and Rojas are quite different. to what we have on the pitch... I would agree to only having one of them on the bench if there was anybody better who should have been there... Diego might end up back on the bench at some point if he can show he is playing any good. You're right that they are maybe a bit 'flimsy' together at this stage in their careers. Gotta get used to the standard of defending / phyisicality.

Oh, and give Hearfield a 4 for missing the ball the first time it got passed to him (along the ground) and it went out for a throw-in. Terrible!! (though I think he did ok after that).

please say that you have a better analogy than that Elrich and Kwasnik were absolutely sh*te, sh*te , sh*te  thats three times sh*ter than ferrante and caceres
