Far out how do dominate a game and lose. Totally undeserved.

Pasty 7 a terrific double save, mostly did well
Siggy 5.5 some great work and caught out a few times
Dura 6.5 Week after week a classy player
North 6 Did well, hard yakka down to three at the back
Troy 5.5 Cost us the first goal, but mostly good otherwise
Daniel 5.5 disappouinting again, but a bit better
Ward 6 A couple of good shots and moves and some poor crosses
Lia 7 Did well, great pass to Big Mac
Timmy 5.5 Trying hard, missed a good chance
Ifill 6.5 Some good shots and turns, unlucky
Manny 6.5 Mopped up a lot of ball in the midfield

Rojas 6.5, did well, a shame he skied his shot
Greenie 6 so close
Big Mac 7 Lovely goal

Ricki - three at the back??? hmmm. Good on him for being positive in all subs though
What ddaya think?

ward was worse than a 6, he lost possession in the midfield ALOT tonight.....5 max for him.

Ricki had little choice to go to three at the back, he had to bring Greenie on and Rojas.

Bottom line for me is when you take Manny out of the midfield we don't do so well, tonight's game highlited that once again.

Troy was totally at fault for the first goal, ball watching and then slow to react to his man, hence an easy header. Dunno how you see that as being 'all Siggy'.

It was a schoolboy error on Troy's part, take another look at his immediate reaction. Are you a schoolboy too ?

I'm really excited about Joel Griffiths coming. We are lacking a prolific goal scorer.

Watch the replay. Ask yourself this
Where was Siggy?
Where was North?
Where was Dura?
Why was Troy splitting two defenders.

Now reverse them and put Siggy marking his man that that Dura went out to cover rather than standing at the 18, bring Dura back the central position and thus negate Troy having to split and cover two defenders.

As for where North was... If you think that goal was Troys fault then I bet you blame the goalkeeper for all goals conceded too.

To me Hearfield misjudged and missed the header, doesnt matter who was missing and who was splitting. Paston thought he had it and left it to him

In fact its probably better to just argue poor management of the defense/defensive formation because it seems you could point the finger at 3 players on that one.

Agreed.

Troy knew it was a ball toward the back post but still ball watched.

Sorry Mr Vadar, I will have to agree to differ on your rather complicated analysis. It was a one on one situation by the time the ball was crossed. He's paid to put a decent challnge in at the point of contact with the attacker and he didn't.

We can agree to disagree.

If I apply your rationale for the 3rd goal, its Siggys fault because he just stopped when he had the guy marked 1 on 1. When the whistle didn't come for the handball he didn't keep playing and chase it and put in a decent challenge.

Its not as simple as that though. The first goal was just poor defensively from more than just Troy but you ceratinly can't say he was the reason. He played his part as did others.

That first goal was dreadful all round, except for Paston who was left unsighted.
Sigmund and Hearfield both had bad moments tonight.  Both 5 or less.
I kept thinking would Musa really be that much of a drop off?
When is Lochhead back?

Yeah we are kinda stuffed because Muscat is a very good right back but we look better with him as a DM. Just leaves us light at the back.

paston had the same problem hearfield had

he needed to worry about the near post as there was no central cover and dura had been beaten, but got caught in no mans land by the cross

sorry, imho, siggy's error/lack of pace/poor positioning
otherwise love the guy, but hopeless when exposed at FB against pace
so there you go - sack ricki lol

Not saying he is, but with Lochhead injured we've had no adequate replacement there.

Sorry Vader, Hearfield 80% at fault for the 1st goal (Dura 20% for letting the cross come in. Hearfield only had one man to mark and he let him have a free header at the back post, which is a RB's role. Pictures don't lie.

The only argument you could have would be that North should have got back quicker to cover Gan, but even so, Hearfield didn't need to come infield to get Brosque because Manny had him covered.

2nd goal was Dura's fault, didn't go with Bridge when North was holding off that Sydney young guy.

I know we all love Dura and he can do no wrong, but I've noticed over the last few weeks that he has been at fault when the opposition scopres. Last night he allowed the cross to come through, he wasn't beaten for pace, he just simply allowed the cross to be made, which left the rest of the defensive unit flat footed. Previous games he has charged out of the defensive line and left gaps...I'm wondering if he is trying to do too much to cover the midfield or is he actually not that good.

Thanks ScoobyD. I stand by my original comments, Troy unfortunately was  ballwatching and was in the best postion to prevent the goal, and certainly does not warrant the increased match score Mr Vadar suggests..... perhaps in a  Galaxy far far away though he would......

I'm thinking he's just trying to do too much. When he had McKain next to him last season he had someone he could rely on. Having different players around him every week must be tough to gel and get the understanding going. The North/Dura pairing just needs time. Lochhead on the left, Hearfield on the right and our back 4 will be sorted.

hmm i think we should be playing siggy in the middle whille troy is rightback.

I don't understand how we can have 3 CBs, and 2 of them have played RB earlier in their careers, yet we keep going at it with Siggy, who is the slowest and least technical of all of them.. hmmmm

In my defence, I didn't say Siggy is the bestest in the world ever.  I merely said that he's better than Jade North.  I also suggested that North is not signigicantly better than me.

Siggy is also clearly no full back.
