Can some-one from the Phoenix org explain why this talented squad gave the most lethargic inept display for 70 mins that we've probably ever seen. Fans and owners don't deserve it. We all know Herbert can't fulfill both AW's and Nix roles, so suspect it's coming back to bite us. Players looked tactically confused from minute one and we were organisationally naive.

No we don't. Take this to the "Sack Ricki" thread.

The biggest thing for me was the lack of defensive pressure from our front four. Victree essentially play a false 9 in flores so with him, finkler, milligan & celeski in the center of midfield, we were never going to stand a chance if smith and manny were left to shut them all down.

Ther fullbacks didnt end up pushing too far forward, and I think that was deliberate from ange so we couldnt get in behind them.

I also think that Ifill up top and brockie wide is the solution for noe, to get the best out of their qualities, however after brockie's goals I can see him going straight back up top. Which is okay if he keeps scoring

I thought Bertos and Lochead were woeful last night. The amount of times they played someone onside and let someone get in behind them. The only thing that saved Bertos from being embarrassed a few more times was his pace.

Paston 6 - did nothing wrong.

Bertos / Lochead - 3 were very average, aside from 2 decent crosses by Bertos, zip offered.

Durante / Boxall - 5 made to look worse because of the FB, tried playing a high line, but couldn't becuase of the other two.

Manny / Smith - 4 didn't know they were on the field for the first 65 mins.

Ifil - 3 absent the entire game.

Fenton - 5 did a couple nice things but needed to get more involved (persistant long ball tactics did not help him).

Stein 4 same as ifil, but was hampered by injury a little

Brockie 6 and only because of his goals.

Ricki 1 - after all this time he still continues to play the same style of game against possession based teams. You can not keep giving away the ball and expect to get anything from the match ( prior to this game Melbourne had made twice as many passes as us this season already??) Even if we keep the ball in our half for longer and move it around we are better off than simple hit and hopes up top.

Has recruited well, but seems to be asking the players to adapt to suit his style as opposed to adjusting his game plan to suit players.
