I don't think anyone is expecting a 'ton' of goals from Greenacre, but more than 1 in about every 6 games would be good.

You know something? I think that is exactly what a striker is supposed to do and should be measured by whether they do that or not.
 
Call me old fashioned but I don't care if my striker does nothing all day except take chances and score goals regularly. That's why strikers get paid big money - no one wins the league because their strikers run around all day not scoring.

Pav has a good edge to him and is ablt to change the Nix style mid game which will be useful - but he didn't exactly crack his shot across goal on taget either. We have two damn good strikers in the mix and I'm glad to have them - and I suggest Pav is learning a heck of a lot from the likes of Greenie.

Totally agree re Greenacre

Onus really has to be on Bertos and Ifill in this formation to get closer and provide a bit more support. I've thought Greenacre has done a hell of a job so far this season.

I do like his attitude and his tireless running and putting pressure on defenders - I just want some more goals that's all. And people are right, he is not getting great service from others to make that easier for him. Come on Greenie - spark up - make something for us....

Greenacre has, as far as I know, been a "six yard box' type of striker at his other clubs. The formation we play does not allow that and means that the vast majority of the time he's either holding the ball up with his back to goal and laying it off, or coming deep in order to pressure and try and win us possession. He can't be dropping 40 yards to win possession and be in the 6 yard box at the same time. In theory, playing the way we are, we should get more goals out of our midfield players. The only way we'll get a higher goals ratio out of Greenacre is to play 4-4-2, which will give him more of a chance to do  "nothing all day except take chances and score goals regularly".
 
2 goals in 6 games, considering the type of game he's playing isn't a bad return. How many chances has he had in those 6 games? Imo, he's doing a great job in the role he's being asked to play.

I'm glad that there are others who can see the great work that Greenacre does despite not scoring a hatful of goals every game.  It's as plain as dogs' balls that playing on his own up front and being relatively isolated and having to come deep for possession and to break up opposition play is not going to get him a prolific number of goals.  Whether we play a 4-4-2 or a 3-5-2 formation, the key number is the "2".  Greenie's two goals came when he was playing alongside Macallister as the big target man.  His second goal especially came about as a result of Macallister, with his size and presence, causing a bit of havoc in the box and occupying a couple of Gold Coast defenders, whilst Greenie was on hand to do what he does best and pick up the scraps.

Think its a bit harsh to knock Greenacres scoring talent. If he had any more goals this season he would be the leading goal scorer in the league. Only two players have scored more than 2 goals this year and both are only on 3. He is also has 1 assist to his name. This means he has been involved in 3 of our 8 goals.

His workrate around the park is high, but I've seen his touch let him down in front of goal at times when many others would have buried it.  I'm a bit surprised at his shortage of goals, given that I thought he had actually come to us as a prolific goal scorer. Can anyone correct me on that?
