If our defence was tighter and not as high we would have been in the running.

Brockie worked his socks off through 90 min, unlucky not score in 92 min

Norwich City supporter since 1992, New Zealand supporter since 2010 but without Rory Fallon's winning goal against Bahrain, I won't know about New Zealand Football.

I think Fenton grew into the game after really struggling at the start.

But whose fault is it there was room behind him... his?? Ernie wants attacking FB's and based on that game he certainly showed a greater willingness to get forward than Ciara has done so far this year and Bertos. However this created gaps, which when we lost the ball MV countered through.

If he sits back, these wholes don't occur as easily, however, Ernie tells him to get the F forward, because we need the extra width he offers.

Against other A League teams which dont have the pace of Kosta and Archie, he might have looked a lot better.

Lia was ok

don't think ?Lia was at fault for the room behind him, he's been told to get forward so the responsiblity relies on the DM's to cover him.....or the CB's - either way the senior team members were responsible to cover the kid who is doing what the coach wants him to do.

Most of them have been playing together long enough by now to know each others game and when to adjust and cover.

Really liked some of Caira's runs

Lia was horrendous again. I didn't think it was possible for a professional central midefielder to missplace so many passes in one game let alone all season. He's a constant disappointment and yesterday was no different.

Brockie does no work at all defensively, and his movement off the ball is poor. He needs to watch Archie Thompson and learn what good CF movement is.

I saw it differently to you red. He played very well last night, made runs, chased the ball down, only thing I wasnt happy about was his defensiveness or the lack of, when they had that series of corners.

yewah his and steins defensive work on set pieces was poor - but then the question has to beasked why is it their job to defend a corner? surelky the CB's are taking the lead on those....

strikers should stay on "half way"..yes its two less defenders but its two less attackers as well if they are man marked..and quick break is always on.

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

Riera impressed me a lot. Played some nice passes, look comfortable on the ball and didn't lose possession very often. I think he will only get better.

There's been a lot of love for Riera but I think he gave the ball away a bit more than people remember - also not sure hwo good he is defensively. I like him, but don't think he's neccessarily the revelation we ned to transform the midfield - having an extra man in there made all the mids look better in terms of passing.

In fact, Manny & Lia both made more passes than Riera, with equal or more success rate.

They also both made more forward passes than Riera.

This isn't me saying Riera was crap - far from it - this is me saying the extra man in midfield made us play a lot more short passes which is a good thing.

that's what I always thought - it looked to me like we had 11 in the box and therefore no counter attack ability, I know Ernie wants to start form the back but having your front men in the defensive zone make no sense to me.

Brockie was excellent on Monday night, easily our player of the game.
