Player Ratings Wk 1

Before I start with my break down I have an idea if someone is good enough to make it happen... Can someone create an online poll where we after each game rate the players on a score of 0 - 10, with an average rating collected at the end. This is done across the season, where at the end players are given an overall score / rating for the year. We can perhaps even look at making graphs to track form based on our own perceptions??

My ratings:

Kurto 7.5: Had a very good game, with one excellent save to deny a certain goal and maintain our lead. Could do nothing about the Jets goal, and was well positioned and verbal as a keeper. Has a massive kick on him. Only downside was his poor punching and his failure to dominate his 6 yard box at corners.

Fenton 6.5: Did well defensively, tracking players and generally being in the right place at the right time, including stopping a shot on the line. Needs to offer more on attack, especially if we persist with two DM's. Needs to be able to take a player on the outside and hit a good cross consistantly.

Carcace: 6: Was not as busy as Fenton, but again did his defensive duties well. Was probably a little more creative on his flank, without doing antyhing to stand out, positively, or negatively.

Doyle: worked hard and was generally in the right place at the right time, although he and his other two CBs were almost caught out a couple times early with long balls over the top. Did not attempt too may long passes, which was pleasing.

Durante: 6.5, made a couple timely interventions and generally sat in line with his other 2 cbs, not pushing forward as per previous years. One good little run through the middle.

Taylor 7: Strong in the air both on attack and defensively. Marshalled the team well, and seemed to really be enjoying himself. Distribution was a little poor at times.

Mandi 6.5: worked hard and brike up a lot of play. Never really pushed forward as he sat to ensure Newcastle were not able to counter quickly. Stuck to his task well.

Rufer 6.5: same as Mandi, made some good tackles and stuck to his task, pressured well and also held space when need to, to slow Newcastle attacks. Passing got better as the game progessed. Still an angry man, but more measured.

Singh 6.5: some lovely turns and a couple nice touches and crosses, but not as influential as he needs to be playing as a #10 as he drifted in and out of the game. Not helped by our direct play at times.

Williams 6: worked hard and was very vocal up the top asking for the ball. Made good runs to create space for others. Missed a good chance. Defended from the front.

Krishna 6: A couple poor / heavy touches and was lucky to get a rebound off his penalty. Looked promising at times, where being direct, but needs to come to the ball more as well to be an option.Good tracking back on defence.

Nicholls 6: a massive air swing that led to a goal, but his intervention earlier set Burgess up with what should have been a goal. Great energy off the bench... will be putting pressure on Rufer and Mandi for a start.

Burgess 5: a couple nice turns / touches, but failed to pull the trigger twice in good positions.

Burns: not on the field long enough.

Rudan 8: got a win, was ugly at times but effective. Nice passion on the side lines.

The thing I noticed most about Cacace was his ability to win duels with much more experienced/older players. Very impressive and very promising

Yep, he did this when he came in last season too. He still has a way to go - he often likes to dribble into the wrong place then lose it - but really promising signs.

Not going to do the full ratings, but things I noticed

Nicholls - Air swing oops, looked to berate Burgess for taking a wrong option or bad pass (can't exactly remember), looked to have been blowing up. Felt a bit bad for Burgess being a rookie, but thems the deals.

On Burgess, he looked lively and had a decent turn on him. Really wish he would have pulled the trigger in their box though. It'll be interesting to see how he progresses

Cacace - He looks like a generic player on FIFA, but I was pleasantly surprised by him. If he can continue to develop, he will turn out to be a very classy player.

Singh - This guy is what 19 years old? One of the best players on the park. We've all known for a long time that he'll be something special. He proved that again.

Kurto - It's so good to actually have confidence back in the #1 jersey. Never heard of him before he signed for us, but looks like a cracking signing

Krishna - Not really much to say, gave his 100%, loved his follow up work - tracking back like lightning when Mandi couldn't keep up, and nice follow up to the pen.

Taylor - Impressed with his debut. If he keeps injury free, he will do good things.

Good to see things were fiesty for our corners, and bombarding Moss.

Just one game, but good signs. Looking forward to game number 2

Burgess was a victim of being new to this level and perhaps thinking he had more time than he did to pull the trigger. At his previous level he probably had time to hang on a little bit longer waiting for the perfect shot but at the higher level, the chances are minimal in the first place and close up pretty quickly when they do appear.

Very "Football Manager"-esc those scores. Although a keeper has to have a worldy to get anything over 7 in FM.

Got a feeling Kurto will be getting a higher score this week...
