Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

A mighty effort by the lads, the frustration of being the better team and not winning...
Haven't seen a replay yet, but here's my thoughts from watching in row P of the Yellow Fever...
Moss 7 a couple of top saves
Manny 7 Defended well and got into it going forward
Siggy 6.5 Did well, one brilliant run forward
Dodd 7 Strong and several last ditch efforts
Lochy 6.5 Good effort
Daniel 5.5 Won free kicks well, some nice passes, but more needed yet
Brown 5 Dumb getting sent off, to pull him down in front of the ref who was giving cards for just breathing, dumb
McKain 9 A colossal game, dominated the midfield, still had the energy to charge forward, really looking to make things happen
Leo 7 The cutting edge for our team, ran out of options a couple of times
Costa 6.5 A great header to score, tried hard
Smeltzy 6 Not many chances
The subs didn't have enough impact for me to rate

What do you think? Maybe I'll change my mind on seeing a replay.

Very off IMO. Costa, Smeltz and Leo 7.5s (atleast), Daniel 6.5, Lochhead 2, Moss 6.5.

That ref had a Wellington toaster in his pocket and everytime we looked at him he made the cards pop up. Adelaide only had two peices of toast despite numerous efforts to get noticed.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I actually thought Moss was quite shaky.

Moss - 5 - suspect at times
Sigmund - 7 - solid and had efforts on goal
Muscat - 6 - tidy at the back
Dodd - 5 - worried me somewhat
Lochhead - 4 - didn't really do anything
Brown - 6 - played well and was sent off in a very poor decision by the ref
McKain - 8.5 - solid, controlled a lot of midfield
Bertos - 7.5 - absolutely daft yellow card but did well
Daniel - 5.5 - didn't do much
Kwasnik - 6.5 - did quite well (and showed off a nice trick)
Costa - 8 - great goal and got up Ognenovski's nose all match
Smeltz - 4.5 - did very little
Ferrante - 3 - did less

Nice work - your best yet.
Moss did drop a sitter of a high ball which resulted in panic and could have been very bad. Take .5 off for that one and I'm with you.
Costa doesn't deserve more simply for performing better than everyone expected. He tried hard and did enough with his goal to warrant another start, but most of the time his first touches were well below what was needed.

I thought Daniel was worth more than a 5.5.
IMO he had his best game in a long while. Watching the replay he was often the " go to" man for creating play. His crosses were superb, fast, accurate and dipping. He played some great through balls...shame some of his team mates did,nt continue their runs. Daniel has been poor in some games this season but in fast open games like Sundays he really starts to look the part.

Daniel has one of his best games IMO, was involved in everything, ran well down the flanks, cross and corners were superb - worth at least a 7!

Moss 6 - the drop in the second half could have been very costly
Siggy worth at least 7/7.5 - the best defender we had on the park
Daniel 7 - his best game of the season
McKain 7/7.5 - was very good, but no way he should get a 9 for that game
Costa 7 - goal, and tried very hard
Smeltzy 6.5/7 - was heavily marked, and still got into good positions, but made some bad choices too.

Totally agree with you. He played a couple of superb thru balls only to see our players had stopped their runs. The corners he swung in from the right were deadly whereas the corners from the left were poor and have been all year.

IMO the team is better with him playing.

Have to agree i havnt always been a Daniel fan,but thought his combination with Leo and Costa made our forward momentum look a lot more dangerous than it has done most of the season. As said above just a shame that some of our off the ball movement and in many cases our complete lack of it didnt mean we were even more of a threat.

I wonder what Daniel would have been like if the game had been played at a higher tempo. The game was a fairly slow paced one, with no Cassio, Diego et al...

nope just jumped across the train tracks and got on a fishing ship. maybe we should send him a bill for $20,000 for running over train tracks.

Having now watched a replay, I agree, Daniel should have been higher, maybe 7 or 6.5. He was a lot more involved creatively than I could tell from row P
No-one's disagreed with me calling Brown's actions dumb, must'va got it right then!

I totally disagree with you there with brown. was the smartest thing he done all season.

To be honest, he didn't have a hell of a lot of time to do much on Sunday.
Not that he'd been playing particularly well in the previous weeks though.

He found time to lead the counter attack until he was tackled by the invisible man, was that a yellow card offence for the invisible man?, and turn counter attack into desparate defence.
