Well well well, what a fabulous performance. No doubt someone will say, these ratings are too high cos I'm writing them i the afterglow, but well... I don't care...
Paston 8 Some great saves, kept us in the match for a few minutes, dominant later
Manny 7.5 Another very good performance
Siggy 7.5 Strong again
Durante 8 Used his brains and his defensive skills, chased players to the death
Lochie 8 A few wayward crosses but lots of impact going fwd
Fred 9 Some fabulous touches and passes
Leo 8.5 Excellent game taking them on. I knocked off half a mark for him missing that cross in front of goal (mean I know)
McKain 9 What a performance in cente midfield. How many times did he come away with the ball and use it well?
Brown 8 Terrific performance in first half
Ferrante 7 Did well too
Smeltzy 8 What a goal that was!
Danielo made some impact as a sub, Troy and Plodder didn't really get a chance, although I thik it was Troy that blew that 3 v 1

Feel free to disagree!

Pretty much on the money, OOE. I'd probably have given a 9 to Durante but apart from that, spot on.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Think you should bump Manny up to 8 but pretty spot on.

Totally agree about Brown. Couldn't believe how well he was going in the first half. Maybe understandable his second half wasn't as good.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I'm not even going to bother because the whole team was great.

It's great to have one of those nights when we didn't have a bad player.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Much better than attempting to find a player who played well earlier in the year. How things change..

Apart from a few neat touches in the first half Fred didn't impress for me. 2nd half though he seemed more relaxed and had an excellent game. He, Bertos and Smeltz seem to be developing a good understanding up front.

Very good game from Ferrante too btw.

Yeah overall the team would be about an 8.

The commentators are useless though, kept mixing Bertos and Fred up , Fred de Jong needs to learn how to read the player numbers.

He also kept mixing up Muscat, Kemp, Fabiano and Archie for some reason

They should try and be less bias too. It's pretty unprofessional.

I wouldn't say they're biased, just parochial. It's kind of nice to hear some pro-Phoenix commentators after reading and listening to some of the crap here in Oz about us maybe getting thrown out of the A League.

Good summary OOE,the best game I've seen from the Phoenix at the ROF to date.
And another thing, I would rate the effort from "the 12th Man " aka the crowd, particularly Yellow Fever and those in the Fever Zone at a good 8.5 - 9+ tonight, Superb effort!
Couldn't believe how quiet we were last Sunday v the Jets
tonight tho it was going off, Loud and Proud...almost continuous chants coming from the Fever Zone and keeping the crowd amped.
Just goes to show, a few beers on a hot friday arvo (cos for most of us there's no work tomorrow or no school for the kids etc!) then off to the ROF,.. perfect time for it.
more Fri/Sat games next year thanks FFA.

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

So true.

I was impressed with the whole team tonight, they really stepped up.

think last week we were all a bit p*ss off with no goals coming until the 1/4 of the game against 9 men.

But agree 100% with what a great day a great friday can do for people.

Siggy had a superb first half - for that half I'd give him a 9, second half harder to see because he was at the far end , he also had  less work 2nd half, as mckain, ferrante, brown dominated the midfield and our ball movement had us on top

great to see Manny rise above his last performance v Melb, if we were a kids team he'd be my current call for "most improved player"

but really, i agree with most on this topic, the whole lot - as a team - 9

really impressed with how many options the ball receiver had on many occasions

smeltzy seemed a bit isloated and out-muscled in the first half but was better linked up after that - and fairly fired up too !!

Fred = felipe - plus - the desire and ability to bring others into the game

Yep agree with most of those ratings i also reckon Rickie was smart to remove Smeltz when he did because he was starting to look like he might pick up that 2nd yellow and that we dont need

Paston - 7.5 - Great work, good saves and positioning, but I knocked him down a bit for his wild bunch early on and a potentially cost us a goal with a mix-up with Dura.

Muscat - 7.5 - Did well, espiecially in comparison to his last Melbs match, surely has cemented his spot.
Siggy - 8.5 - WE LOVE YOU!!! Solid, safe and 900% commitment.
Durante - 8 - Comfortable on the ball and great defensive work, misses out on 0.5 points for that mix-up
Lochhead - 8 - Great attacking runs and clever work to beat players, did far better with the ball in the last third.

McKaaaiin - 8 - f**king monster in midfield, always plays a good pass after winning it as well.
Brown - 8.5 - A Machine, gets so much done and a well taken goal.
Ferrante - 7.5 -  Brilliant passing and much better shooting than last week.

Fred - 8 - Good link-up play and much less of the useless flicks and backheels. Struggled I think with all the heavy attention Melbs were giving him.
Bertos - 7.5 - Great dribbles and is becoming a bit of a goal threat now as well, just needs to work on his final cross/shot.
Smeltz - 7.5 - Fantastic goal, benifitted from not taking that charateristic touch to slow the ball down and beat another man, he just belted it.

Ricki - 8.5 - Didn't see much from the subs so haven't ranked them. But RH' tactics and decision to not change the line-up up to much late in the game kept us solid.

YF - 9 - S o loud, so clear and so clever, we were brilliant.
You know we belong together...

Fred is about 10x better than Felipe. Doesn't let himself get muscled off the ball (backs into players to shield himself) and he works very hard tracking back.

No comparison whatsoever.

I thought uH...oh! when Fred lost the possession about 4 time in the first 5 mins. Thought he was going to be another Felipe. But he really picked it up big time. Some lovely touches and through balls. He is starting to combine well with Smeltz and Bertos too!. These three will be even more awsome in a match or two.
What Fred has bought to the Phoenix is a threat down the middle. Before we were easy to shut down as most of our attacks went down the flanks. Now with Fred there they have to closely mark him.....end result Boom Boom and co are getting much more room down the flanks.

How about someone stealing Freds passport so he has to stay here!!!!

Just thought I'd do a little research to prove you have absolutely no idea about football valeo. You are only band wagoning because we won.

Just like last week we cross it but there is never anyone in the box. Ricki has to be questioned for this - surely he went over it in training this week?

Pretty much a direct continuation of last week which is disappointing.

[QUOTE=valeo]I think that Fred has been poor so far. Was better last week.

[QUOTE=valeo] Crap Brebner is off. We were over running him in midfield.

Fred is just off. Passes are missing etc

I thought everyone fitted into the team well.

Sigmund was amazing
Paston had a much better game
Muscat did really well going forward and back
Fred showed class and I thought he did a great job in there.

Smeltz, well, what a goal.

The whole shape and teamwork was the best Ive seen from the Phoenix, much much better.

overall a great game - everyone played brilliantly. Have to reat Tim's goal as one of the best yet!!!

Did anyone notice how daniel stormed off the pitch once it was all over?I get the feeling he wasn't happy with being left on the bench till the last couple of minutes?
