Bit hard to assess since by the time they got on the game was a bit unstructured. Fenton got around, the late penalty Nix got was for a foul on him.

And where's Fenton playing? Think i read somewhere that Rudan wanted him as an attacking midfielder but I presume he's on the wing or even back to RB

He replaced the injured Tratt as wing-back on the right on Saturday.

So you saying Bueno....was good ?

Wasn't there, but muy bueno seemingly. Central league golden boot. Will be interesting to see how he goes in the Handa, if he plays.Career has gone nowhere, but as a poster here said, you can find talent anywhere. Selection errors aren't unknown.

If nothing else, a good yardstick for the Korean triallist, who Rudan seems to be considering still.

"Rudan said while both Tratt and Yoo were "going OK", he was in no rush to make a decision on whether either player will be signed.

"We've got time with these guys, I've spoken to the pair of them, and I've got to be sure on both of them," he said. "If they continue to go the way we expect them to go then it could be different news next week.""

Personally, I like the way Rudan is taking his time and not being pushed into quick signings just to fill up the squad. Do any other HAL teams have full squads yet?

With both Tratt and Yoo having been out of professional football for a couple of years (Tratt due to "personal reasons" - seemngly depression; Yoo due to performing compulsory military service), it seems wise to give them both extended time to get back up to professional level.

Too often, clubs in the UK and Europe give a player just a couple of games on trial - not adequate for a player newly arrived to show their quality - and thus miss some gems.

Ryan Nelsen trialled at my ancestral club Charlton Athletic when he first arrived in the UK but they passed him over, despite needing a decent centre-back (a major weakness contributing to their subsequent relegation from the Premier League).

Mark Hughes at Blackburn obviously saw what Charlton didn't.

Next preseason game is the annual game against Capital Football Select XI, this is a pre-season game being hosted by KCU on Weka Park. There will be curtain raisers played by junior club members from 11am, Kick off of main game at 2pm. Food and coffee available. Gold coin entry. This is a fund raising event for a KCU club family with a junior player who is battling cancer for the second time. Please be generous and support the family in their time of need.

Part of me wonders if the trial for Tratt is now more off the pitch than on it. How is he dealing with being back etc.  I hope it works out

So it seems like Tratt's injury wasn't too bad then?

Time to start spelling Kopzcynski correctly (Kopczynski)

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&so...

The "cz" sound in Polish is pronounced "tsh", much like the "č" sound in other Slavonic alphabets (Czech, Croatian, etc).

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

More the fact that it's a Weenix player selected in the Capital squad.

I'd have thought there were others who might have been called up or none being it's a Phoenix side they are playing. I was suprised to see a United player called up.

He'd be heading away with Scots College to national Tournament. Doubt he will much on Sat if at all.

I’m repeating myself but we need more good players. Not even new trialist, there is no time left to get new players and gel them into the team before the season start.

I've already given my view of the Korean trialist so won't repeat it here, other than to say nothing I saw today made me change my mind about him.

Should we be worried about only 2 goals vs a scratch team who have never played together before?

From people on Twitter, it sounds like McPeake had a blinder in goal

The Korean was not very impressive, Williams played some nice football, Singh was clever with the ball and linked up well with Krishna, Dura gave a few balls away but was otherwise solid in defense, Taylor was impressive and committed to his challenges, Fox was good in defense and also did well pushing forwards, Kopa played the ball around well but didn't see much else from him, Kurto didn’t need to do much, Burns was poor with his ball control at times and then brilliant in others but worked hard and got a goal for his troubles, Libby was creative and was good when moving the ball up the field. In the end, we were fine. We should’ve scored many more goals but i think the Korean being up front really hindered our attack. An import striker would really help us there

Phoenix was really dominant in this game, so hard to evaluate his performance. He did some good things, especially in the first half, but the feeling that someone with his pedigree should be much more of a driving force for the team hasn't left me.

Fenton played well. He had a few good crosses and some nice passes whilst he was on the pitch. For Rufer I couldn't tell you. He either didn't play, was invisible the whole game or I somehow managed to miss him

McPeake was genuinely impressive. He communicated well with his team and made some brilliant saves. Easily one of the best players on the pitch
