Pre-Season 2018/19 - vs Victory

100%. We've spent years being OK with being mediocre. If you spend time with Victory fans, for example, they're constantly pushing for improvements even when they win the thing. We need that mentality, and we've always needed it, and we've never gotten it.

The problem now is that we're not even mediocre - we're just plain bad. With our future on the line, of course we are moaning - it's because we care. If I didn't care I would've stopped defending the Nix on sharkty forums like 442 a long time ago.

We're pushing for goals, clean sheets and then a win!

Clearly the secret all along was to give Louie a #10 shirt.

Really curious to see how Fenton goes... his first game + goal was a massive WOW, but for obvious reasons since then its all being a little ho hum.

If he is going to play as a wide attacker I really hope we see him willing to take players on the outside and not always cut in as we started to see from him after all his injuries.

I really hope Fenton kicks on this year; he's had a torrid time of it, one of the most unlucky footballers i've seen.

Has anyone seen any write up about the Olympic game? I'm assuming that Fenton would have been at Right Wing Back?

Interesting morning at Macquarie. 2-1 win for Sydney over Nix. Teams exchanged penalties in first half before Aaron Calver, of all people, scored the winner in the second half. Some positive signs. Very physical game; Nix under Rudan won't be pussies.

Plenty to like here - starting CAM for Sydney United, champion of the strongest NPL. Big, strong, skilful, good touch, passing and vision, and a strong L foot. Would keep Sarpreet Singh honest.

Sounds like most A-League teams are wrapping up their pre-seasons now, think there is any chance we might play a Wel Clasico as a final warm up at the Stadium?

Many think they'll have the wooden spoon at the end of 2018-19; most think they shouldn't be in the A-League; but not new Wellington Phoenix coach Mark Rudan who tells Ray Gatt that there will be "naysayers" who can "say what they want" but it will not deter his focus or determination. Rudan says the job isn't easy but he is a fighter, and it is ultimately up to players to shape the type of team they want to be.

So are the Nix done with Preseason friendlies? Nothing seems to have been posted. Surely they should be playing TW before the National League kicks off.

Nice of the clubs to be promoting this! It would be good publicity for both clubs.

Actually, I assume its a case where the club didn't want to promote it either because Rudan doesn't want a crowd or it won't be a proper game and will involve maybe three 20 min periods and/or lots of subs etc so not much of a spectacle to have fans at.
