Phoenix win 2-1. Scrappy second half. All the trial players looked decent. TAWH would be a solid addition especially if Rudan persists with two holding mids. Bleak for Parkhouse who didn’t get on.

Declan Edge, offers a different perspective

Hilliar's one of his, right?

What a shame, looks like Declan just turned up just to  rubbish The Nix.

Or perhaps he just had a different opinion..

I know all Nix fans have been trained into being super-defensive, but we really have to try and get out of that mode imo; it's getting really old.

Or are we like most football fans when it comes to their team. Super defensive about our team. Really don't think we are any worse than other fans. In fact you could probably argue we are some what tamer.

I think we are a bit defensive after years off FFA and Australia Media and some other teams fans all telling us we shouldn't be in the league.

I realise that; but it's not productive. Defend the team against spurious claims, sure, but it's extended to people coming up with conspiracy theories everytime the Nix are criticised, even tangentially.

I didn't see it the same way as Declan did and I can disclaim any bias as the other team is my team as well because half of them are the Team Wellington side

I don't log in often to here any more but just wanted to THIS! this because it's spot on. There's defending your club, then there's being blind to absolutely any criticism of players or the club when it's justified.

Opinions are like arseholes.

Everyone has one and most of them are full of shark!

Has anyone from Ole ever played or even trialled for The Nix?

Tyler Boyd?

Tyler Boyd is the obvious example. Doesn't speak fondly of the time at the nix.

wasnt he a bit of a spoilt brat when he was at the nix...perhaps hes grown up a bit since he left...what was his problem while in the nix set up   ...i thought he deserved a bit more game time while he was here

anyone know how much time Boyd spent at Ole? Or is it a bit of a myth?

He played a lot under Ricki but when Ernie came in, he had already clocked off cuz he decided he was off to Portugal so why bother. So only himself to blame for not playing much in his final season.

Boyd was one of the  original lads from the waikato under Declan. Did a short run at Ole, so more of a declan product than ole per se.

With declan? i think from memory they (Boyd, H Edge, Ryan Thomas, Lisette) - and some others - were in a team at around age 12/13 being coached by Boyd's dad. Boyd's dad found out about Declan's former profession and asked Declan to get involved. (That's how Boyd's dad tells the story.)

Hazy on exact dates, but i believe declan and those players moved at the end of 2012 when Declan left Waikato FC. So a few months i would think prior to Boyd signing for the nix.

Looks like the dates don't line up - Sept 2012 is when Boyd signed for the nix, so technically never at Ole prior to signing for the nix.

Aah now I remember was it you that banged on about the the kids at Ole being  taught that they are too good for the Nix?

Ok, this is way off topic now. If you want to continue it, take it to the Ole thread.

Maybe balanced.  Assume TAHW slips into the back line for Dura?

It's not Calvin.  Joe Harris.  Been at US College, ex-Kapiti and United.

Calvin is injured otherwise I suspect we'd be seeing alot more of him.

Nix up 1-0 early.  Singh.  TAHW injured as they were about to start and replaced in the starting line-up by Burns.

Burns set-up Singh for the goal.
