Hi - This article states there is a preferred drinking
establishement for yellow fever - Which pub is it? It would be
great to find out where to head on away match days to cheer on the
lads.
If it hasn't been chosen what place do people think we should be going to for the games. Not keen on some big impersonal sports bar. Place with a big screen where we can ramp up a bit of atmosphere I say! Any suggestions?

Cheers Richard
We haven't finalised one yet. We asked on the forum a while back for suggestions..

Occi - I'm a VIP member and the breakfasts are great
It needs to be somewhere close to the stadium, BUT has to be a
place we can make a lot of noise while watching games on the big
screen! Somewhere where WE have preference over rugby! It also
needs to be somewhere that isn't seen as a "Old Boys" pub, like the
Occi. I'm 19 and know that its not a good place to go for young
guys.
the pub in johnsonville, walked past it lastnite it was empty. good
times

All the pubs at the stadium end of town are "old boys" pubs -
it's the workers side of town.

There is more than one.
is there? the one on broderick road just down from videoezy

That's a good thing though... I mean if the boys are away on a Friday night, nowhere in Courtney is going to showing the game instead of a DJ to keep the general punters amused.
At least somewhere like the feathers is likely to be happy to establish a partnership with the club and supporters groups and make it feel like our home pub... Downstairs at the Dog and Bone might be an option too.

Jays is round the corner as well as some other bar I've never been to. The one you walked past has the pokies out the back - so you don't see them from the street.
It'd be good to have a place that still requires a 5-10 minute walk
tot he stadium, so we can fill the streets with flags etc. .
.on the way to the game in a big mob.

Thats the Johnsonville Tavern and they have a good large flat
panel TV, the bar staff are into UK footy & they do discounts
during Canes & Lions games so they will probably do it for the
Pheonix games. Also a major factor they sell Guiness.

For home games as you say a pub by the stadium/station - It's
got to be Tracks unless the beers cheaper in The Feathers,
Oxidental sells crap & expensive beer, so thats out.
Wherever it must sell GUINESS.
I drink alone in the Downtown Local, and haven't been stabbed
yet. Maybe I could ask them if they would do a deal for
us, where we drink in their bar, and they organise the street-kids
outside not to stab us?
All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight
Much I like the bars in J/ville , I don't think that the train
system could cope with the numbers to get to the stadium ,it really
would be logical to be close to the venue,
I do not know any of the bars close to stadium. It would be
great if one of the establishments would say ,HEY PICK MY PLACE ,
and receive discounts or have some sort of loyalty system.
Yea KK, the train couldn't cope but for away games it's an ideal
location to watch on TV.
Alright for Johnsonville folks, but somewhere in town means
everyone can train in for away matches.
stink guys u lot are, now im gonna have to train in from jville, so
so inconvenient

We tried Jays for the Kingz games several seasons back but it
didnt work out.
As theres gonna be thousands of loyal supporters we are gonna
need LOTS of bars for away games.
A dog with a bone :)
Thistle aint a bad suggestion. Close to the rail and has a fair
amount of room.
Excuse my silliness but where is the Thistle???

Ditto & do they sell Guiness?

It's not a badpub - quite good up on the roof in a nice evening after a game.
How about we try the feathers for the first televised game then
have a vote online based on their ability to supply ongoing
guaranteed priority for the beautiful game on TV / cheap beer /
specials on match days / and perhaps some pickled onions and cheese
blocks on sticks at half time??
Seems only fair to let them know the strict criteria they are being measured against - I'll give them a call and let you know how I get on
If the feathers don't step up to the mark - onto the next establishment and another online vote!!
PHHHEEEEOOOOOONIXXXXX!!

Leave it for a little while Rich. I think there might be some
things going on behind the scenes...
No probs - Look forward to the official announcement
I will be at the Downtown local by myself - you are all welcome to
come down.

Don't forget the Guiness, it gets the Skaman behind the
team>

How bout Courtney Arms, miles away but always excellent for
watching the football (go Liverpool!)

This much I hope is obvious - as nothing is going on in front
of the scenes.
Now the draw has been released, we can get a few options for you
guys/girls and see what is popular. Plenty of time.
You are welcome to join Frankie Mac at the Downtown local in
the meantime..

hey guys, not sure if this has been raised but was wondering if
anyone from the Yellow fever has talked with some Pubs close to the
Stadium about hosting the fans on game day. some sort of incentive
ie show your season pass and get $1 or $2 off a pint would be
grand.
Plus I am sure that the pubs would love the extra cash on a sat night/sunday afternoon when it is fairly dead in those pubs anyway.
Anyone got any favourites? The staidum bar might be a tad too small so I think Trax would be the go
your thoughts?

I'm going to revive this thread, just because a few of the newer
members to the forums have been asking some of the questions that
have been covered in here. I hope that is OK with the moderators?
Perhaps it could be stickied?
To all the newer folks, have a good read through this
post.
