That was when I hit my low ebb and then found my happy place (shortly after he took his weasily little face back to Brisbane).

Firstly, Diego wasn't broken for a sizeable chunk of the games that he was listed as injured for Adelaide.  He was caught in the middle of the general Pissantery that surrounded Adelaide.

I still want to see this list of players that have turned us down.  So far we have Alexander who got a new deal at Millwall who were at the time odds on for promotion to the Championship and Robbie Kruse... how is this millions of players that say no to us ?

We're trying players who are on paper A-League potential and have a list of more to come as those tried don't meet a very high standard that the club has set.  Much better that we should have signed a full squad in a panic and be rubbish than have room to sign the right player and be great.

Seriously, we've signed a top rated young Australian keeper, Siggy has had an injury that hampered him all last season fixed, Vinnie Lia is a effectively a whole new player, Diego isn't as fragile as Adelaide would have you believe, Costa is a year older, stronger and faster and we have Greenacre.  We are also likely to sign a youngster who even Melbourne were stunned by at the weekend and that leaves us with only 18 signed... while we scour the world looking for the next signing.

How does that make us rubbish ?

Fair enough when you put it like that.......
And it is good to see the club taking on a player like Rojas.
It's just frustrating when a player of Putter's pedigree comes for such a short time, it seems no better than watching a DVD.
But time will tell and hopefully we sign another good striker, still wouldn't mind seeing Alen Marcina at the club, looked awesone at the Knights a few years ago, mind you things coul;d have changed

Ah the sweet sound of a voice of reason from a happy place HN!  Keep up the good work in cheering us all up

He turned up, did an ankle in the first ten minutes of training.  If that rules him out for a fortnight then you have to use the time to look at someone else.  They are extending the timeframe to give him a chance but as people keep pointing out, we only have 5 1/2 weeks (cue image of blind panic).

I imagine an injury shows you some things about a players character as well, how willing is he to make a recovery, does he have the spine to fight for a place despite a setback ?

Marcina seems to be a Greenacre style player, I think we're looking for something different for our next signing (s).

Are there any other players coming here to trial?

I've heard vague rumours of at least three others on the potential list.

No names or details, but Tony P mentioned Danes and Dutchmen back when Putter was first rumoured and I know they spoke to other English options when they spoke to Greenacre and Alexander.

. . . . and the mad panic begins . ..

What is happening in Wellington, the bad weather getting to you?

Our defense is solid, midfield is ok, if we have one more proven striker then we are in good nick for the season I think.

Enough of the schoolboy panic already, let the club carry on with its trialling system.

The ideal situation is we have our squad complete and assembled latest 4 or 5 weeks before the start of the season - this allows time for new players to fit in to the team culture, combinations to be developed, particulary in pre-season games, etc etc.

This isn't going to happen - we have still to sign 2 strikers.

Do I think this is a healthy situation ? No - especially with Greenacre's recent history of injury and Costa's inexperience (but acknowledged potential).

But would I rather we rushed in to signing the 2 strikers at the expense of quality ? No.

As frustrating as it is I guess we just have to have faith Tony will sign up 2 quality strikers and we will have to be patient for a bit longer.

My concerns are;

we can't afford to get off to another slow start this season - we need to be competitive from day 1 to make the play-offs and we are currently very exposed to an injury to Greenacre and

the longer we take the less options we will have - the talent pool gets smaller with time

So, for f**ks sake, find someone decent and sign them, let's all be patient.

No one said we were rubbish. Just don't think we're good enough to challenge this season. Though I was optimistic before last season and looked how that turned out - maybe being pessimistic for this season will have the opposite effect

I agree with whitby boy. Its how I am feeling too. I know we have to wait but sometimes I feel like we are taking too long and all the free agents will be picked up.
I REALLY want Putter here or at least a dutch player. My family will be his number 1 fan when he signs.
I think we should do our best to let him stay longer.

I am impressed with the amount of players we are supposedly looking to trial - esp because they are not all from the same region. Would like us to check out Costa Rica but can't see that one happening.

Why do we need Costa Rica when the best Costa Rican in the league had to hack down our (possible) 17yo midfielder on Saturday after he was stitched up by him.

Lopez was useless too, and he gets more starts for the Costa Rican national team than Hernandez does!

I didn't say we need Costa Rica lol - I said it would be cool to check it out.. Hernandez was quality for Victory and so was just thinking that maybe there would be more people keen to join?

(And I was thnking along the lines of my family is dutch so we want a dutch player and my family friends are costa rican so they would enjoy that haha. Selfish I know)

Such a disturbing album.
This guy would definitely be all over the field. Would be a good targetman too. An easy target.

So do we know if Putter's gone home or have we managed to keep him here for the Mainland match?

I thought that Putter was out of the picture but if I can infer from this translated article, it sounds like he's going to China to try and impress the Nix.. ?

For the gives courage up in New Zealand Eddy for the cannot count as yet on a contract at Wellington Phoenix. By enkelblessure he not yet ended up for the club New Zealand in action. <!--h3>Redactie Redactie Goal.com</h3--> 12 jul 2009 22:59: 28
<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

By this blessure Phoenix have decided do for the offer as yet no, thus RTV communicate Rijnmond.

During the training camp in China the oud-speler gets of among others FC Dordrecht again the chance of persuading The Nix of its qualities. For the himself does not expect however that he will persuade the technical staff of that club during the training camp much of its qualities.

For the started its football career at FC Volendam. In the season 2001/2002 he proved the overstap to RKC Walloon district, he five seasons under contract stood. Tussendoor in Akersloot born the player also still played Volendam for FC.

The past three seasons ended up for for FC Dordrecht. In 57 duels for the Schapenkoppen he found fifteen times exactly it.

That answers a few of the 'aspirational' questions that have been asked if it's true.

Would still leave us 1 quality signing short of a good length (assuming that Putter turns out to be good and we offer a contract!)

Aha,  so our Putter's on (the) course for a comeback, eh? You could be digging the Putter chants out yet, C-Diddy.

To be honest, I'm really glad that he is getting a chance to trial with the team. His record looks really good, and if he impresses and does well, then he will get a contract(hopefully) and maybe tear it up in the A-League in the coming season!

I really hope that he gets a proper chance of impressing the coaching staff. Don't really know him (apart from FM) but the guy seems to have a decent pedigree, and he's worth looking at.
Hopefully his ankle has healed and his fitness has improved. It would be nice if we signed him and he proved to be a success.
