Sounds like you're both ready for the Fever Zone... "come and join us, come and join us, come and join us over here"

Perhaps it's an age thing - I think it's the younger lads that are probably more in to pouring beer on each other. I've found that the screw tops on the beer bottles keep my beer in the bottle when I'm not pouring it down my throat.

I'm not into throwing beer over everbody either. Spray it on your mates but I dont want it all over me thanks. I could respond by throw my HOT coffee all over you in return.

i am one of the "dickheads" or whatever at the front and would like to know exactly what racist chants we were saying because as far as i can recall not one racist word was said.

Come on guys.  If you dont want to yell and sing and dance dont sit in the fever zone.  Theres a whole other side of the stadium to sit in if you dont like it.  Its like going to a rock concert and standing front centre then complaining about getting squashed.  Or walking in front of the bank at the basin with a tie on back in the day and not expecting to be pelted with what ever was close to hand.

They have a red zone for the sevens and a fever zone for the football.  You must surely have some idea of what to expect by now.

Furthermore, incase you havent noticed, the fever zone in its self has about as many security guards as the rest of the stadium watching our every move.  If someone steps out of line they get kicked out, have seen it happen and will no doubt see it happen again

Some of the language was rough considering there were kids around, yet at the same time it was quite funny as the situation at the time deserved it. I was in Aisle 21 and didn't hear any racist chants as such. Maybe the booing of Leo Bertos was over the top, what did he ever do to the Phoenix??

All in all a good singing performance by the YF. When everyone got into the right timing the songs sounded mega loud and scarey!
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I've never heard anything resembling a racist chant in the Fever zone, and if I ever do I'll tell the muppets doing it to shut their traps.
Overall, I'd say that the behaviour in the YF zone is of a much higher standard than at many of the terraces in some European stadiums where I've spent some time in the past...many of the complaints here seem a bit overblown to me...

I thought the booing of Bertos was a bit lame (heard it on the TV). 'Ricki Herberts Yellow Army' sounded awesome though!!

You didn't read my post properly ,i wasn't referring to any particular dick head you or otherwise, it was a generalization on dick heads  the world over and an observation that from my experience of being at football games over  many years that you will from time to time find people who will  act in a highly offensive  and inappropriate way ,im not talking about laughing at the stewards shouting at the ref or taking the piss out of the opposing players or each other for that matter  more the sinister and deeply sickening mob mentality relating to people of a different race /religion/sex.
Having said that i didn't hear any racial chants on Sunday either so  perhaps it is getting blown out of proportion and maybe the person who thought he heard the chants was mistaken,no harm in being vigilant though is there ?by all means" yell sing and dance"after all we have something very special here but lets make sure no one spoils it for the real fans!

The answer to life's problems are rarely found at the bottom of a beer glass - but it's always worth a look.

i was another of those guys("dickheads") down the front of yellow fever and getting amongst it. yes we did say 2 the boy we don't like aston villa fair enuf aswell he enjoyed it and laughed and we all moved on. no way did he get abused.

also no kids were anywhere near the ball that got thrown 2 us my mate caught it clean and there was no way it got stolen from the kid he was no way near it.

the throwing of beer ok we got excited when we scored but who didnt watch green street holigans then you'll really find out what throwing beers all about just harden up mate and enjoy the game...

we decided 2 crank the chant lets get naked after all our clothes were soaked in rain cause we were hard enuf 2 support our team from where we are every home game buddy then every1 joined in behind us... nd wat is surly 2 become a tradition when the nix r winning in the 80th minute.

LAST BUT not least racism. the only racist chant that i ever heard started or said is "show us your passport" nd it went nowhere. so i suggest you go attend a mcevedy shield meeting next year and go c wat racist chants r all about (rongatai knows all about them). i apoligise on behalf of the lads if us having fun and supporting yellow fever and the nix pisses u off shabby, i'll b sure 2 bring you round a beer shower when you cant handle a bit of "game day" action as we support the nix the way they deserve.

loving it boys suberb effort wiv. try get sum more numbers 2 the backbencher b4 the game yer.
also away games lets all get there 2 rather empty last time.

I think we have to be a bit careful we don't get carried away here.  For all the talk of racist chants, no one has actually said what was chanted/said that was racist.  I personally have never heard anything rasict in the zone, and I have been in a few different areas in there.

If some people can substantiate the racist claims, which are more than "you're a bunch of convicts" at the aussies, then we can look into it.  Until then, I think we are just creating an issue out of nothing.

I agree with this. I've never heard anything racist at any of the home games either and I don't expect to from what I seen of the majority of the people that live in the YF zone. The getting pissed, swearing and chucking beer around is fairly harmless really if you think about it. Obviously don't wear the Armani when going to the game.

Lets not confuse the young 'uns getting boisterous with anything more sinister shall we? After all we don't wanna spoil the YF zone.

WHAT IS EVERYONE ON ABOUT AH?

I was one of those f**kn idiots at the front of fever zone, we there to have a good time. If  for some people thats being out of control go to a game in europe then u will know what a real supporters stand feels like. Whats a bit of beer being spilt in the air gona hurt. Piss off and go 2 rugby match and clap when they score a try.

If people think we are idiots thats there problem ah we there for football and a goodtime. We never made any racist comments and no ball was taken off a kid just to make that clear to everyone, whoever thought that get ya eyes checked, and who thought we were on drugs? what a joke.
I wish I could chuck the people into a hardcore english supporters stand when there team scores and then complain on there website about getn pushed and beer spilt or whatever.

Nothing wrong with that.
Just cant believe someone heard racist chants or us being racist at all. Thanks to the people who backed this up and know that was not the case.
One more thing we are not hooligans, I just forget how blind some people are in NZ, maybe they been to too many rugby games ah,

We all there for team and atmosphere so lets work together ah.

I have just re-read my comments, and I am shocked to admit that they are quite sensible.

So I retract them.

f**k THE DICK-HEADS AT THE FRONT, f**k THE IDIOTS AT THE BACK, f**k EVERYONE ELSE IN EVERY OTHER PART OF THE RING OF FIRE,  f**k THE REF, f**k ALL OF YOUSE.

Phew, that feels better.

haha i'm with you frankie. did you other guys all just sign up to YF in order to get that off your chest? being hard enough to stand in the rain (with 10,000 other people) is quite the feat lads. top notch. as for racism, i think we have established that maybe there was none going on, but even things like 'show us your passport' isn't really that funny. even for the white middle class guy like myself. would hate for the likes of daniel or fillipe (god bless  ) to hear that, as even though its not directed at them - there is no difference. Great win, great crowd, lets keep it all great. mob mentality will get us nowhere, unless of course it is a mob of 10,000 - then bring it on!

Someone referenced  Green Street and was serious?

One of the reviews: "Green Street is a colossal misstep at every turn, and it's the sort of film that's bound to appeal more to one who knows not a single thing about football in the UK than one with even the slightest knowledge. It's patronising, cheap and violent in all the wrong ways."

Glad to hear that the fuss all sounds like it was nowt. Shabba?

Hooligans? No friggen way. I've been to a few matches on my traveks. Thats the good thing about the Phoenix, there's no away fans with any trouble and there's certainly no home fans causing any. I'm really enjoying meeting so many new people at these games. New friendships formed etc.

Ok, so one or three might have a beer too many from time to time but i am pleasantly surprised at how well behaved they are regardless.

The fever zone from my point of view as someone who has sat on each side of it, is that it looks fun, you know to go in there you are:

A) gonna sing ya heart out.
B) stand for the entire game.
C) probably cop somones spilt beeer in the excitement. (Free Beer if you think about it!) (I have been to Wellington Rugby games at Athletic Park when "fans" urinated into cans and then threw them off the top of the Millard Stand. God knows how someone never got killed.)
D) wonder whether or not you just got caught up in a most amazing experience.
E) wonder why Rugby fans are so quiet - except when calling out the only chant they know "Black, Black, Black" (& as a Hurricanes fan - "Hurricanes, Hurricanes" - I tried to start them up with a song or three but they stare at me like I'm from another planet - maybe I am???)
F) prove to the Stadium that you don't need loud music during every break in a match when the fans can make their own!

My only thing about the YF Zone - Could we spread the numbers around to Aisle 20, 21, 23, 24 - There are fans there just dying to break out in song if only they were led!

Oops. That noise was your credibility being lost.

Green Street Hooligans is the worst kind of exploitative filmmaking masquerading as art. Adopting every conceivable clich associated with the sociopathic aspects of football hooliganism, it's about as realistic as Shrek, but far less entertaining.

As for the football superb. i have been to the world cup and the euro's and tell u what, the phoenix crowd is top notch.atmosphere could not be better!!! Well done to you all that braved the cold!!! lets bring home the A league!!
