Poor crowd attendance - well done all who are there.  The ones that dont attend you dont know how lucky you are to have an A-League team in your city.

it's not like we have had awesome left backs in the past - where does he fall so far in your eyes after one game on the lochhead scale?

I wanna yell at Sigmund but what's the point. I had this game down for a 2 goal win to Brisbane so I guess I should not be disappointed.... but yet

Very disappointing to concede a goal so late in the game.  Overall I would have been very happy to take a point, there were some promising signs by the Nix and I didnt expect our boys to do so well today.  As I have said before I cant understand why the FFA plays during the international break

They didn't deserve that

Fair result Brisbane had numerous clear cut chances. Spoonley had a top game kept us in it

Could of easily been 5-1. Spoonly missed so many saves, the frame of the goal was his friend.

I counted at least 5 or 6 very good chances of our own. Don't think it was quite as clear cut as all that.

Even with our supposed b team, we should have taken a point, end of freaking story.

lia our dm walking back in cover from the 50 min mark...when we were effectively playing three up front = uber exposed.

Liked boxall.

Short term downer aside, we have a very different, exciting, team, with some fairly intense competition for most spots.  It won't be a boring season...

Liked the look of the new boys who played out of position lets remember - Hicks and Reira. Like to see both in natural position before passing judgment.

Caira was ok but he's not better than Lochhead at this point.

Sigmund and Boxall were guilty of some lazy defending and poor communication there a few times.

Hernandez lost steam and hid for that last 25 minutes.

Stein is just so frustrating to watch on the ball although at times he got no support.

Rufer will keep Boyd off the bench IMO

Can't wait to get Durante & Brockie back in there, see Rufer and Fenton at RB

Shame to lose it like that but I think in the end Brisbane deserved it. They played a professional game and did good damage control in the 1st half when we were much better than them. In the 2nd half we sort of committed suicide by giving away the equalizer less than 1' from kick off.

I wish people would be able to look at this game for what it is - a game where we were missing six, I said SIX, first-team choices and especially the first competitive game for coach and quite a few players alike. I personally saw A LOT OF GOOD STUFF. Compared to the way Ricky had us play, we were much more organized, we stay high up the field and applied good pressure, we tried to hold the ball and have meaningful possession (e.g. in the opposition half). I am as disappointed as everyone else to have lost it - but let's look at the future.

Some of you may remember Ange Postecoglu's first 10-12 games in charge at Brisbane. He was the laughing stock of the league, but he had a good game plan in mind, and once his players started adapting to that game plan, things rather changed.

Step by step lads, step by step.

Thought Muscat was ok but Lia offered nothing. Reira in there please.

Six? Moss, Fenton, Durante & Brockie
You're suggesting Rufer and Bertos are starters?

Yep you are right.  I was pretty pleased with how the team did considering we had some many first team players away.  I think once the team gets settled we will get some very good results

Best 'football' we have played for a long time. Spoonley was the stand out player for me. Lia, Muscat and Sigmund are just not good enough. Great at hacking down players but we have better young players now. Big mistake taking Cunningham off, Ifill may have had a few good touches but he just does not have the pace anymore.Riera did nothing so need to see him start. Not a lot wrong with this side today. Ref was poor. gave some terrible decisions.

Too slow, and technically didnt have it, to lose the ball uncontested is unforgivable.

I've had terrible luck with having to work nights when matches are on so don't assume we are all just lazy. I only have limited Annual leave these days so don't have the luxury of using that to take the day off.

Not bad - would have settled for a point. Another Roar squad could have murdered us.

Adams looked a bit crap, not enough tackles, caught in no mans land. Hicks got better, Lia - typical with the almost peno.

The other new guys Ciara and Riera looked solid. Like Boxall slow but solid and gets up quickly when knocked down. Muscat - good match.

Cunningham was poor/out of sorts. Hernandez was ok. Ifill needs practice. Huysegems needs to stop going off-side, but worked hard.

Spoonley good from him, if he was a bit taller he would be a very good goalie.

i though muscat did his job well, needs someone better to play off him
liked boxall except for positioning for berisha goal.

Spoonley played well. Should be our number two pushing moss

Muscat did his job? what fouling. He is not good enough and will cost us with suspensions as the season goes on.

Muscat is consistently one of our best

i'm hoping that things get better because some of the passing in midfield was crap. Defence wasn't too convincing at all. That said there were some positives so maybe after a few games the team will gel better

I think this game gave a clear indication of what will be our problems this season. The good things were the fact that Merrick made us look like we were a proper team. Hernandez and Cunnigham are going to be a great combination and I thought they were worked really well with Stein.

I just don't know that our squad has the all round quality to be truly competitive. We have good creative midfielders but our holding midfielders (Lia and Muscat) were quite bad. I have confidence that Muscat will come right but I think we really need someone in there for Lia. Depth at the back looks to be somewhat of an issue. I agree that Lochead was poor last year but have we really replaced him with anyone better? Our players coming back will help the team out but I think problems will remain. I don't think we are a playoffs side this year. It's going to take three seasons for Merrick to really stamp his mark on the squad. Better days are ahead.
