Live in Auckland, originally from Wellington. Try to go down for at least 3 games a season. Get fired up and make some bloody noise for me in the first kick z out of the season!

Fair call. so perhaps:

                    Moss

           Siggy        Dura

Fenton         Lia             Manny

          Roly             Riera

  Krishna      WeeMac     [Sarpong/Appiah/Powell]

This is exactly how I see it. This talk of a back 3 is a red herring and I don't think its anywhere close to a back 3.

If Fenton goes forward, Manny stays back.

If Manny goes forward, Fenton stays back

If both go forward, Lia drops in.

There is no back 3 however to make sure we are not hammered on the counter, Ernie is ensuring that 3 stay back as opposed to 2. Means you are less likely to get outnumbered on the counter if we lose possession and Durante and Siggy don't smoked in a foot race.

Lia/Rodriguez are DMs in name only in so much as its more likely the 2 wide men push forward and he drops in to space fill and provide cover. Riera will still be the screener in front of the back 2 when we do not have the ball and its not a counter.

So no, its not a back 3 - its ensuring we always have 3 back when we press forward so our guys can take more risks higher up knowing there is cover behind them.

So if both Manny and Fenton both go forward Lia is going to drop back and use his blistering pace (cough cough) to cover the risk of Dura and Siggy getting smoked in a foot race.

If that's the plan we're fudgeed.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Nah, he's going pull on a shirt or kick an ankle and take a yellow card for the team. Or Siggy or Dura will. They just need an extra person there so at least one of them can get close enough to make the professional foul.

Of course, when Siggy and/or Dura pick up enough cards for a suspension then we're totally fudgeed.

Typically speaking in this scenario though the wingers would likely track the fullbacks and a midfielder is unlikely to track Lia into the backline so I think it could work.

Got 2 season tickets but the other half is away this weekend and looks like all my friends are useless so one going spare at the moment. Didn't renew in time to get the cards for this week so it's a paper ticket I can just email you.

This is still available if anyone is keen.

Zero Nix in the DP today, Zero coverage on Stuff (last Nix article was last week and football page filled with EPL), Zero coverage on Herald (last Nix article was Sept 14 and football page filled with EPL).

What's going on? I understand there is a RWC going on, but surely we should be able to get something going to get a little bit of interest building for the weekend?

Ha Ha

Hundreds of miles away in Christchurch the Nix and the A-League get a full page in Saturday's Press with a Siggie interview by Tony Smith accompanied by a large colour action shot of Siggie taking up the top half of the page, and the bottom half comprising profiles and predictions for all ten A-League sides with nice colour graphics and photos. Even has full squad lists for each team.

On the back page of the separate sports section too, not buried inside where no one would see it.

Unprecedented coverage!

My guess is that it's because they're putting the game they think would get the smallest TV audience up against the end of Bathurst

Thursday night game meant no Sunday fixture in Australia. Hence 7pm here.

I presume they needed  a Sunday game and time zones determine the rest?

What he means is that because of the Thursday night game, there's only one game on Sunday. The preferred timeslot for Sunday games in Oz is 5pm (7pm here). When there's two games on Sunday we're more likely to have the 5pm slot (3pm in Oz).

As for the game itself, I have a feeling it'll be dour and barely watchable.

Does anyone know of any websites/apps that will be live scoring the game (with comments preferably)?

Work apparently does not like it when I ask for time off to watch the opener..

Here in Christchurch I'm all set for watching tonight's game on Sky.

Just got Sky TV put back on this week for the A-League, ASB Premiership, Euro Championship qualifiers etc.

Scored a great deal I read about on the "Geek Zone" tech forums.

Only $39 / month including Sky Sport !!!

Plus free My Sky + for a year.

And free installation.

You can get Sky Basic plus Sport for only $39 / month by phoning this marketing company who work for Sky:

Phone 0800 475 988

You might have to keep phoning back until someone answers (what I did) and can also leave a message for them.

Probably better to phone on a week day too.

Only a six month contract but you get the reduced price for one year if you want.

In other words you can terminate it after six months or if you want, carry on getting the reduced price and free My Sky + for one year.

(You probably will have to give Sky TV some notice before they will disconnect you)

Note that you can't get this offer by phoning the standard Sky TV numbers, only the number above.

Offer open to anyone who has never had Sky or (like me) has not had Sky TV in the last 60 days (minimum period of 30 days notice plus 60 days with Sky disconnected)

Offers which the marketing company has going:

Free My Sky + for a year with all offers:

Sky Basic = $29 / month

Sky Basic + one premium channel package (e.g. Sport or Movies) = $39 / month

Sky Basic + two premium channels = $49 / month
