Hope he has reviewed a few tapes over the off season. Or taken advise from Piney or DChote.

Although Paul Ifill would be the ideal.

I do believe that this will be Brockie's season.  In hindsight, IMHO the spell at Toronto last year did him no favours.  He arrived back unaware of new systems put in by a new coach and started the season trying to catch up. From Phoenix to Toronto and then back he hardly had an off season and was therefore probably mentally tired as well. He is very much a confidence player and when he didn't score early last year his confidence dropped and the downward spiral kicked in.

In the West Ham and Newcastle games he looked to be getting into good positions and on another day could have had a couple.

In the last month or so he has got the "never scored in an international" monkey off his back as well.

The potential of our new midfield to deliver quality ball looks very promising and if that proves to be true an early season goal or two will do his confidence no end of good.  If he does that I would predict he will do as well as the 12-13  season and be one of the heros of a successful season.

Can't wait for it to start.

I dont think you know how this forum works, even if he scores 20 goals this season he will still be doing something wrong in some peoples eyes

The one player I've heard very little about in pre-season is Burns.  Has he scored yet?  Doesn't seem like he's really made a huge impact.  He needs to score goals or I'd say we'll see Cunningham/Fenton/Boyd in there pretty quickly

He's been getting good raps, looking hungry and sharp, will score a few this season.

Scored against the Central Selection at Weka Park. Plenty of assists too.

Brockie scoring 10+ is most certainly going to be important in us making the finals.

But the other big area for me is making sure that the rest of the team also chip in. I'd like to see 3 or 4 players around the 7 goal mark as well.

WeeMac hasn't scored that many in the past, so we need him and burns to step us as well as A-Rod and the super subs Boyd, Kenny & Krishna

So the bench is likely to be Cunningham, Boxall, Boyd and Fenton/Krishna/Ridenton? You would think Ridenton considering he covers the middle of the park, Boxall covers the back, Cunningham the wide guys and Boyd up front.

So we are a 4-1-2-3/4-1-2-2-1/4-1-4-1?

I'd put Krishna on the bench ahead of Boyd personally - his pace would be good to inject against tired defenders

Disagree. I'd have Boyd ahead of Krishna from what I've seen both last season a little bit of pre-season. And Boyd isn't exactly slow anyway.

Krishna has a better goal scoring record than Boyd, and if you have Fenton on the bench he can play any position Boyd can, plus FB. I think Boyd is decent but I think Krishna is more likely to change a game.

What were the last season's tallies for both of them (I am too lazy to look it up)?

Boyd 2 in 20 (777 minutes, or one every 388 mins approx) - Krishna 1 in 9 (308 mins). So not much in it really. But Boyd played 22 games prior to last season without scoring too

I can see the arguments for putting Boyd on the bench ahead of Krishna - he's young and still developing, he fits Ernie's style of play, he was ahead of Krishna in the pecking order last year. Fair enough, I just think Krishna would be a better option...

But, regardless of my ill-informed opinion, if Krishna doesn't get on there then why the hell did we use an import spot on a guy who can't make our bench?
