Well done fox in the box

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

probably one of the most enjoyable 0-0 draws I have ever seen - for those last week questioning the players efforts, they ran their guts out tonight - Powell is not the most skillfull or best finisher but man does he cover some ground.  you saw players with their hearts on their sleeves tonight

So, what did Jade North do that we hate him now?

The Fantastic Mr Fox!

I thought he was great. Looked calm and composed.

Was happy with all the other young guys. The played to or above expectations.

Think if Brisbane had had one of their main strikers available we may have been in trouble.

Powell did a lot of running, but had few chances. The front end didn't seem quite on the same wave length.

It may do Roly some good to have a break, lose some of the frustration and come back fresh.

Hats of to the boys today, was happy with everyone, even though Doyle at right back made me very nervous for a while.

Well done team that last 10 mins was intense.

Happy with Fox he did a very good job. Danaskos has to stay at LB he is the best we have had for awhile. Appiah so much pace but so technically awful.

Took 3 points in the Alex Tobin award. Not bad for your debut.

If we could swap Sarpong out for Krishna we win that 2-0 IMO. or just give Krishna's left peg to Appiah...he did not look happy at all on that left foot!

Fox man of the match on debut, was great on CB with Dura. Crowd was 7,774 which Sunday night isn't bad.

Sarpong went missing I thought up front but Powell did well, was great to see someone up front chase for everything. All in all, will take the point and beat Jets next week.

I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

What does Mossy need to do to be man of the match.  He was 40 shades of awesome.

A great game of football - Well done Dylan Fox, best debut Ive seen in the A League. Other thoughts:

Ridenton, Lia and  Sarpong =  pretty average.

Dura, Fox, Reira, Gully, Dani, Powell, Wee Mac, Moss = pretty awesome.

I have this problem in my job too.

Because I am pretty gosh darn good at my job, I only get feedback when I have an off day. Im just glad our customers dont have an internet forum to slate me on these days

Dived, on his own corner flag. At some point he was waving back to us.

Best performance of the season acknowledging the result.

Seem to match up well with Brisbane.

Very happy with the draw - all of us YF watching here in ChCh seemed pretty relieved with the draw and felt we might have just missed out on a cheeky win.

All due credit to Fox, Gulley, Danaskos, Dura and McGlinchey. And while Brisbane was threatening they were not as lethal without their two best strikers (McLaren, Borello) today. Luckily Henrique had a quiet night in the office.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

That in mind we could have won that if we had Krishna

Things just aren't working like they should up front. No simple solution. We need to see more of Appiah though. Powell ran hard and deserves a lot more chances in the team. Overall, Brisbane were the better team.

Not sure if others have commented on this but I started wondering how would Roly slot into the pattern of game we had today. I am glad he has some time to recuperate and recover through his suspension. As for our defence, I would not mind the same back four we had today to continue against the Jets next week.

I only caught the last 10 minutes of that. The new fellows (Appiah, Stevens, Danaskos) looked good. Apparently Mossy played another epic blinder. Are we generally happy?

Very happy with a draw. Yes we might have even won it, but so could they.

Appiah was a busy sub with good running but poor finish. Stevens - too short time on the pitch for me to have any comments. Danaskos - not as much of a new bloke as this was yet another start for him, and he seems solid overall. For my money - on his performance thus far - he seems a better left fullback than Doyle (who might in turn be a useful CB in training rather than FB).

We seemed somehow more composed without Fenton (less nervy?) - Gulley was again quite self-assured.

Was worried when Stevens came on and Doyle was at right back, cos Ridenton did a lot of defending down that flank and Tom isn't right footed, and Stevens seemed to have a brief to get further forward and not cover quite as much.

Agreed. I was surprised that Doyle came on for Gulley, but in the end it was all good.

Ok, my 2 pence worth. From my spot in the zone, I felt the whole team played well. Considering the circumstances we were expecting a right tonking and ended up looking likely to snatch a win. Brisbane were not that bad but they were not on form. For the most part it was a clean game - theatrics from a couple of their players aside.

Fox, what debut. Good news is he looked quite comfortable and psired well with Durante. Better news is he played with maturity that if we get a licence extention, he will fill that spot for years to come. Mossy was great in goal and D-man and Gully were good as fullbacks. Wee Mac looked interested, especially when he drifted into the middle and Riera with Lia held them well for the most part.

I dont understand the criticism of Lia and Ridenton whom both played good solid games. Jeffrey had a couple of good touches but really should back himself more.

A great team effort in my opinion and if it had been against some of the other teams, we would have walked them, top 4 apart. Well done lads, a clean sheet and although only 1 point, you earned 3 and earned a moral victory. The name Fox is going to be heard loud and clear should we stay and he keeps performing like tonight. Can't praise him enough.

pleasantly surprised when he was effective going forward and cutting in onto his left, but still very, very nervous when Broich or anyone was running at him.

and agree with LG above, thought Lia was fine- a better long passer than Albert and he worked well in the midfield. Didn't see anything particularly, given his limitations of speed, he did wrong. Surprised he lasted 90 minutes though!

As for the match officials, the ref got some wrong, the bald lino ( "Offisde" as he is known as in aisle 12) should hang up his boots, getting it constantly wrong. The other guy was a lot better.

how about Sarpong? I tend to agree with Fred DJ who says he is not busy/committed enough. That's how he looked to me todsy. He's had enough time, as an import he is a lemon.

Entertaining game shaded by Brisbane, lucky to get them without their strikers.

A lot of good hard work and some lovely bits of play from us, but we sure like to give it back in under three passes.

Fox, in particular, and Danaskos have my vote for starters for the rest of the season.  Danaskos looks comfortable getting forward and back.  He made himself available a lot.  Gully can fight it out with Manny on the right hand side.

McG looks better without Roly.

and Sarpong is still playing like he's either not fast enough, not confident enough, not interested enough, not tough enough or carrying an injury - which we know he was for this game.

Some people say he is getting better but he isn't doing the job we signed him to do. You only have 5 visa spots - we need them all to contribute.

Given that so many were out through injury/suspension a draw is a good result. Thankfully the penalty decision was reversed, but it should never have been given in the first place. How the push in the back was missed is beyond me. Yet more evidence of the poor standard of officiating in the A-League.

First Nix game since 09. Nice to be back in NZ and at the cake tin today.

+ Noticed that we have a huge tendency to lump the ball up field rather aimlessly when defending, I thought we were past that.

+ thought Sarpong was as useless today as he's looked on my UK TV screen.

+ Fox played well but Moss was my MoM.  He got us our point, hands down.

+ even with this side, only one shot on goal just is not good enough.

+ what's up with the lack of a match programme?

Enjoyed sitting in the Zone but why does everyone feel the need to stand up? I attend Plymouth and Leeds games very regularly and their versions of the Fever sit down unless we are about to score goal, have a corner etc.

Just watched the replay.  Durante handled the ball so was a genuine penalty call.

I disagree, the fact that the referee consulted his linesman for clarification on something he didn't see, is how its meant to work. He had a very good game.

Welcome back.

- Yep, was particularly bad last night, but I wonder if that was a result of having 3 inexperienced players in the backline, taking the safest route.

- Yep, Sarpong has flashes of skill, but seldom achieves anything by them, and often gives away the ball straight away.

- Yep, I'm sure there was a bit of 'great game...for a debutante' in that decision, but hard to say he didn't deserve it.

- Especially since we had a lot of opportunities to put shots on goal.

- There were programmes there last night, although I've never bought one myself.

- Not everyone feels the need to stand, some of us sit to the side of the zone, join in the chants, and still get to enjoy some of the atmosphere. But some prefer to stand, and that's who the core part of the Zone is for.

Was it not Sarpong who was only declared fit on the morning of the game. Who has the medical knowledge of his injury to right him off.(Again)
