Imagine being a NZ Warriors fan as well, you don't get a month off.

It's just hit home how poorly we're doing this season. The title of this thread, "R15...", geez, I can only recall a handful of wins.

Spain '82 is where it all really began for me. There were a few moments before, plenty of moments after, but that World Cup was the zeitgeist.

When the two seasons cross over its a tough time of the year.

I think I gave up on the warriors for that very reason! Looking at their talent compared to the Nix's though, and they are underachieving more.

I cant give up on the Warriors like I cant give up on the Nix.  They are my times, through the pain and the pain.

Just imagine how the Souths and sharkies fans thought ont heir recent historic wins.  We will feel that way in 30 years when the Nix and Warriors bring home their championships.

Heard an ad for the Hatrick matches coming up.  If you are one of the first 50 at the gate at 6:30pm you get a free ticket.

No mention of the Wee Nix Tee Dubs match either.

Or Sydney Swans fans who stuck with their club for something like 71 years between championships.  That's the big difference between NZ and Australian and EPL sport culture - we're a nation of glory hunters.

Adelaide with a big win over City makes tomorrow's game even more of a must-win. That result only puts both United and CCM 2 points behind us, we don't want to be in a race to avoid the wooden spoon this season. If we can start to find some winning form, this could also narrow the gap between us and Top 4. I'm down from Auckland for both the CCM and Victory games. 2-1 for the Nix in front of a drunken but small crowd tomorrow is my prediction.

You are right but I wonder if this is not simply due to a small population size and football not being a main spectator team sport.

HAL has large audiences in Australia even if football is not the main spectator sport either because of the sheer size of their cities with at most two HAL clubs per large population centre.

Maybe we are not more fickle, but our core audience is simply smaller here, and looks lonely in a stadium of 40K capacity.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Ok so why does Perth Glory get close to 10k on the same day & time and in the same City while BBL and Tennis is on?.

I agree, but the argument against it is that the HAL in particular isn't of the same standard to the EPL which even if your side is in a relegation battle each year at least it's at a high standard. As for the warriors, no such excuses, but the failure to appoint a decent coach has always annoyed me. I suppose given the last decent one was ex warriors maybe Kearney is at least worthy of being given a go.

No way that CCM get decent crowds in non-NSW derbies. Last season they got 6.4k vs us, 4.5k vs City, 5.1k vs Brisbane, 5.1k vs Adelaide...  Newcastle do seem to do a bit better but not hugely different to us. Last season usually around 7.5k for non-NSW games. Greater Gosford is about 380k people, Greater Newcastle is 540k.

Wellington city has a population of 204,000 - the Wellington region is about 500k but that includes the Wairapa so that 500k is in an area of 8,000 sqkm. Gosford has a population of 180k but the central coast region has a population of 325k in an area of 566sqm.

The Central Coast and Wellington urban area are pretty equivalent in population and size: Wellington, Lower Hutt, and Porirua combine to about 360k.

Edit: Apparently we beat them 4 times, the fourth in a final.

Not really, the difference is between the area administered by the city council vs the wider metropolitan area. Wellington metropolitan area includes the Hutts and Porirua, Brisbane metropolitan area includes Ipswich and Logan and so on for about 1.9m people. If you just take local government area then Sydney would be 200k but the other 4m+ people in the metropolitan area clearly contribute to the market for their crowds.

Same, well I don't live in NZ but 'with nowhere else to go' I'll be listening to the game. I've always been keen on the Phoenix but this season that's picking up a gear, again.

The last time I was in this gear was a few years ago. We were in the play-offs, Ifill was brilliant, my local NSW pub was watching with interest, we won 3-1, with an import sealing the win, and another week in the finals.
