Didn't think A-Rod was that good. It was an opportunity for him to show what he was made of.

He was adequate but not great.

Vinnie back in heart beat.

Disagree completely... A Rod shifts the ball so well in the middle of the park and controls the tempo nicely, watch the replay and after he passes he's often telling the player to slow it down or to quickly give it back because the space has opened up. Also, technically he's quite clever in beating his man to find room.

Lia was better tonight because he was able to concentrate on doing the donkey work and not trying to start play from the back.

I agree he moves the ball very well. Though he does have a habit of occassionally forcing the pass too fast, either to a player that isn't in a position to recieve it (e.g. being mobbed by defenders), to a player that hasn't thought of making the run that ARod sees, or straight to the opposition. With playing time and experience he'll reduce these errors and be an ever better player.

I absolutely agree he does move the ball quickly..maybe too quickly at at time, some of his passes his team mates are not ready for and they turn into the kind of passes that can get you hospitalised

Just wondered if putting Kosta on the bench for the odd game might wake him up. he didn't play too well again last night

Definitely. The only change to the starting 11 on Tuesday should be Roy Krishna for Kosta

Good to get the win, and first time we've been able to celebrate a goal at the stadium for a while having only been the first 2 home games this season before last night. Also saw someone behind us get kicked out by security which was a first at a Phoenix game - she had managed to smuggle in a couple of bottles of wine.

That explains the result.

I've realised if all teams took their chances in every match, we'd have rugby type scores.

We created quite a few, one went in, we got the points what's not to love?

Would you have said the same thing If WeeMac had missed?

I'm happy we won but we won't beat anyone above us if some of these clear cut chances don't start going in.

Of course not, but I'm seeing the result for what it was.

True, we should be doing more of that.

Good match, good turnout for a cold windy rainy day. We made good plays and took chances, little bit sloppy at times but it's been a while since i've taken my shirt of in the zone.

The result was excellent but at the same time we had a lot more experience than CCM plus 5 internationals, so I really expected a lot more, especially as they are the bottom team.

Kosta has to be dropped for his sake as well as the team. When you are  off form it is very difficult. We will see if the coaches have the balls for that.

Second game for Shane, has done nothing for me yet. Certainly not ever going to be the player he was some years ago, although Watson did himself no favours. The main difference was Wee Mac. On his day would be our best player.

Shane also hasn't had the Daniel/Lochhead service, tbf. He should be having a chat with Doyle too. Worked for Powell. With the amount of quality attacks we were making he'll get something soon I'm sure. He isn't able to put himself about like he used to, but I'm sure he'll get some goals. Krishna is far and away our best striker, but Smeltz will get some. Reckon if he gets one, it'll lead to a hat-full.

Often he was back post behind 3 defenders, there was no one going front post and the cross was along the ground. Feel he has to be available to go out wide too, cos Watson shouldn't really be out there.

Maybe with Kosta the coaches are considering the alternative that on his best form he'd definitely be in the starting team and that we have enough quality to allow him some time to find it? Mac was energetic, but flat in the second half, but made Storm Roux look a little weak.

The midfield play looked more fluent than usual. In the last few minutes, I think I worked out why. I was thinking to myself that it didn't feel like there were any major refereeing talking points for once. Apart from Watson near the end, there hadn't been much niggle. With that, came the realisation that for once, our midfield hadn't had the snot kicked out of it (and gone unpunished by the referee).

Put it another way all the M.C. midfield should be serving mandatory 5 match bans at some point in the season.

Kilkenney and Brandan particularly. Though the 'Nix never seem to get the benefit of that only the kicks.

no one gave smeltz any decent bloody passes! This is where it all went wrong, I didn't notice smeltz doing much wrong. The ball was often worked well via gorrin, roly and McClatchy but it never reached smeltz.

Well to be fair, he got the assist in Krishna's goal against Perth. That means he's had a hand in 50% of the goals we've scored since his arrival. Pretty decent start I'd say.

I sure wish it had been him on the end of the chances coughed up by roly, parkhouse, tratt, Watson.....

the amount of shirt pulling in this game was amazing to watch, players grabbing other players shirts right in front of the ref and he was happy to let it all go. i thought roly was going to lose his shirt at one stage when the ccm player was trying to hold him back.

I thought Shane was unfortunate in that all of the chances fell to other players. If they had fell to him, I reckon he would've buried it.

I'm the opposite - I actually think he looks much sharper now than he did in his last stint for Sydney. He was more involved against Perth, but I think that's because he had Roy to play off.

A-Rod got a few times applause for his fake body motions to trick CCM players. I don't think he played particularly different yesterday, just the players around him stepped up to his speed and direct passing. Also notized how often Kosta an Smeltz discussed after failed attacks, hope they ckilck soon.

Wait, what, did Hatter's "5-foot-tall inflatable turd" as per Doloras' description, actually make its way all the way to A-Rod???
